@@samellenport8075 you remember the early seasons where he took the most unnecessary risks and made some damn self destructive decisions to get people put of fires especially post shay right?
That was a real technique used in the 50's 60's and 70's. The had special ladders for that job called scaling ladders they had a long hook on the top used to break windows and a single spine with rungs on both sides. Firefighters would break the window clear the glass climb to the window and repeat until they got to the location.
Hook ladders were great bits of kit; my Dad used them in the Middlesex Fire Brigade (1957-1965) & the London Fire Brigade (1965-1983) & he loved them; I used to watch him shoot up the tower using 2 of them.
@STRIPPERS im pretty sure she was on ambo just because Brett needed a paramedic. In the new season, pretty sure Boden is gonna ask to be promoted to deputy district chief, which would mean the battalion chief spot would open for the highest ranked fire fighter in the house, that would mean casey. If Casey is gonna become battalion chief of 51,then Stella can take his place as lieutenant on truck, but as of rn,i’m pretty sure there’s no spots open on truck.
Hes very dedicated and driven... And definitely willing to take advantage of his athleticism to do what others can't to rescue people, even if it puts him at risk. Can't imagine OSHA is happy about how many times he climbs without a harness.
I was so for sure that after Gallo told casey " I can get to them but you might not like how" that there was going to be an accident between handling the ladder and going to save that woman.
I saw the BTS video of how they did this and Alberto really freaking did this stunt without a harness! 👏 Update: I just watched it again and he was wearing a harness, but STILL FREAKING COOL.
The end scene of thus episode made me bawl happy tears. The way kelly looks at Kidd makes my heart so happy, I can’t wait until he proposes. AND OUR GIRL IS A LIEUTENANT, I just hope she doesn’t have to leave house 51. ❤️❤️❤️
I've just watched this episode and I can't believe Gallo didn't even get praised for what he did which was brilliant AND another thing is it just me or are the firefighters of 51 starting to be more like Police every episode there's some kind of investigation they look into and practically do a police officers job
They gave always been like 'Huh lets just check on this after shift' eventually they gave up the pretense of 'just a concerned firefighter' when they got half the intelligence unit on speed dial.
No offense to the original firefighters of Chicago fire but between Gallo doing this and Ritter saving the lady on the train tracks these young bloods are killing it.
Smh, having the SCBA on your back while outside and putting it off when entering the building, that is not how it works xD Oh, and if you turn the oxygen on instead of just putting the mask over your patients' faces it might actually help , Sylvie ;)
“Weak pulse let’s start an IV” never fails to get medical situations completely wrong on these shows, they just need someone on set to give them realistic lines. first thing is airway, unconscious, smoke inhalation, should be intubated and then yes start lines for med access but wasting time on an IV while they go into respiratory arrest is dumb, they know the likely cause is smoke inhalation aka asphyxia so increase amount of oxygen into lungs properly and if there’s no damage to lungs then heart will improve by fixing the airway and high flow of O2. but what do i know lol
Why didn't Gallo jump back down once the caving ladder was in place and put his SCBA back on? Getting oxygenated blood to your body seems kinda important in most situations.
I wish I can see you work in a real life is that just a story or is that real that's how you work because I just want to say you work really hard and I'm very proud of you so I wish I can see when you work with fire and some people that get hurt
I do not understand why Gallo had to climb up there and then Casey followed him with the leader truck. Why was it not possible to move the truck straight away so Gallo could get up using the leader?
Also, in real life, they wouldn't let the husband ride in the ambulance, not if the patient is that seriously injured. She needs people tending to her, and a worried family member would only be a burden to the work the medics need to do.

This is kinda around the time I stopped watching the show as much. I enjoyed the first few seasons, but as a guy who does this for real, Gallo was your typical hollywood freelancer like Buck in 9-1-1, and would get himself and everyone else hurt. I enjoyed the show in the beginning cause it addressed PTSD, GAS, and mental heath, as well as relatively accurate depictions of the job, though of course with Hollywood sprinkled in cause it wouldn’t be a TV Show otherwise. Good show but it has slowly lost its touch.
I can´t wrap my head over the fact you call this safe unconventional.. There is nothing unconventional about that. Do you know there is something called firefighting sport and this ladder climbing is one of the main events in which contestant race (how quickly you can get on the top of four store tower)? F.E. seee this video: th-cam.com/video/_o0W3IwOpa8/w-d-xo.html (this is local championship, but there are world championships for this sport). So yeah, Gallo made me smile and the rest of the team made me just staring disbelievingly...
Prediction: Casey either heroically dies or get promoted to battalion chief. This would open up a spot for Kidd to take the position of Truck lieutenant. If he gets promoted, I think Severide would become a captain. However, I think the most likely scenario is the death of Captain Casey.
Killing Casey would be a very Poor Setup, right after he Survived a head injury then they just kill him? That doesn't make any sense at all. Either he gets a promotion as Battalion as you mentioned or Stella goes to another house....That's better
@@silethembakolekaayz8666 its better Kidd goes to other house, why killing someone. Casey is important too. Its better Kidd goes other house or change work shifts in house 51.
This is the stupidest thing I ever saw. The kid had good intentions but no equipment, no radio, no mask, no tank. That's as dumb as a civilian going back inside with no protection. He had the right idea with the ladder but he should have taken his equipment up with him
Good to see Casey beginning to trust Gallo, at least a little bit. He'll probably get himself killed, but the boy has some mad skills.
Agreed
Yes that was really nice to see but judging the look on chiefs face im not sure if he did 😆
At least he asked Matt first

In Lithuania firefighters are trained to do climbs like that, and there are even competitions who can climb the fastest

The ladder thing 1:04 that not unconventional at all the like competition to do that as dast a s possible
That seemed completely useless and a waste of time... the ladder got there a second after he found her. So was pointless. Just unneeded heroics...
Seconds count in those situations. And they didn't know weather he'd still have to search for her
