Cap, been reading about the Iwo Jima campaign & how the US Air Force/Navy bombed & shelled the crap out of the island with little, if any effect. Could you set up a scenario where modern day planes & ships, using modern ammo (e.g. 200lb JDAMS, GBU-38, GPU-57, GBU-72, Tomahawk missiles) and compare the damage?
In all the excitement I neglected to realise I was traveling Mach 0.99, got into a sustained 5.5G turn to get my nose on, got a few shots off before the wings departed, same thing happened to Milo although he peaked at 7.8G before his went their own way.
the kills on the appaches with the guns were on point ps you made me buy this game from your videos hopefully i can be joining you when i get the hang of the game first
Hey Cap, recently I had heard of an interception of an surface to air missile with another surface to air missile. I was wondering if you’d be able to simulate that in DCS. For example could a Patriot missile intercept an S-400 missile which is targeting something be it a drone or a plane. Would you be able to do that with a couple of different surface to air missile systems. I think it would be a pretty entertaining video.
@@grimreapers I’ve been attempting to send the links to the article and Twitter post but they keep on disappearing after I post it is there any other place I could send it
I dunno if anyone is interested but Fire at Will had an Awesome campaign spanning from TGFWS to Cuban conflict (though fictional). The graphics in the canyon were nothing to write home about. The entire syllabus, including maps to help recreate waypoins, mission goals and time/ weather set could be a wonderful expansion to your campaigns. Cheers!!
Having already tested and replicated the famed no-missile shootdown, here Cap decides to raise the complexity. Also, seeing the issue with the crates, it might work to have a one person acting as a neutral debugger running Olympus to correct spawn and trigger issues. And if they end up not being needed, they can record gameplay to use in the video.
59:49 That really weird dogfight was me Cap. In the other AH-64. You dodged an earlier Hellfire K a couple minutes earlier. When you shot down my wingman, I got a second chance. Don't shoot at defenseless hero's with jets....😀
45:07 that f14 coming at you is menacing, if anyone knows, could they please inform me as to why i get an authentication error with the mods in the "new" DCS update of open beta and stable being integrated? (I have never used mods before so any advice will be useful)
I have no interest in playing DCS, but I find myself enjoying Grim Reaper videos, especially the contemporary scenarios that could happen today or tomorrow.
Same. I find the learning curve of DCS too big for me to figure out in my very limited free time. So being able to enjoy DCS through GR is just amazing.
I like 97% of your content, but these games with fog of war and team cooperation are by far the most enjoyable! But I am also scared in that if there is ever a real war, a lot people in a lot of high tech equipment are going to die.
I've read stories about the Iran/Iraq war and one of them was that the Iraqi AF would frequently abort missions if they even suspected that an Iranian Tomcat was in the air. Their fear was based on an event that happened early in the war when an entire squadron of Iraqi MiG-21s were shot down by two IRIAF F-14s. When word got back to Bagdad the generals just couldn't believe it was possible. They ordered mission after mission to find this hidden Iranian SAM battery that they believe shot down those fighters.
I was in my 20's, and remember Iran got nothing from the US after 1975, not 80's weapons. Only because a reenactment A2A missile didn't shoot hit head on nor down. Phoenix was LR bomber not dogfight and early sidewinders needed clear heat source lock. Vietnam score was 10%. Simple RWI & Missile Lock, not tracking via a plane's radar. Manpads were barely new and not effective. Not being critical at all as I have no idea what is in DCS, but fun to relive something I actually lived through.
Thanks for the comment. You are right, early missiles were notoriously bad, and most kills even up to the 70s were done with guns. You will see even with 80s weapons we used in the sim and shown in the video, there were a lot of misses. Just getting a solution, a challenge in itself, is not always enough, we also need the parameters to be favourable and even then there is no guarantee. I think it makes for more exciting game play.
44:35 Ello, Spacecheif, the is an F14 heading in, danger close... Yeh yeh I got him, video jumps to a shagged up aircraft Ello. lol Love it...Good flight guys, Godd
Now cmon GR, WHEN will we see a GR ground vehicle platoon? That.. would be badass. Unless of course DCS ground vics blow. Nobody wants to see a sim you late tor that blows. Wait.. anyways getting crazy badass at some ground vics would be awesome to see.. Conquering across the land, kickin up sand..

This is the best I could manage, problem is there is a lot of dug in positions that I can not model in game: th-cam.com/video/735xH9LGD78/w-d-xo.html
Cap is mastering the art of using the Force to clip wings. Pretty high on the list of phrases I never expected to write.
These campaigns are incredible. Show off the best of GR and what got me into DCS 4 years ago!
Nice. Historically the Iranians could have AWACS as they used their Tomcats AWG-9 radars in that role.
Historically speaking the Iranians completely dominated the Iraqi air force. It was like 4:1 kill rate or something like that
Yeah it was.
Irans army was lacking in offensive operations given its human wave tactics against the Iraqi’s.
This is by far one of the coolest videos I’ve ever seen. I felt like I was watching sporting event. So many sick moments.
Campaign is like 4 weeks to early for the F4 Phantoms
These campaigns take a while to do so they could feature it in one of the last episodes.
GIB F-4!!!!
@gungriffen we are going to hold you to that 😃
Thanks Grim Reapers!
Thanks!
Thanks
Great fun to watch. Thanks to Cap and the guys!
Super Cap @36:40 Vini Vidi Vici!! That was awesome to see!! I’ll watch after for the tactical view too because hot damn, what happened?!

The GPWS in that mig speaks English lol. Great video!

When are the sunday fundays coming back?! We need some king of the hill in our lives. And be on the blue side Cap!
Not sure TBH, I am hugely time-restricted these days :(

@@grimreapers just curious if you can use mods in the steam version? I know there is an open beta version on steam so now I don't know
Where can I download this campaign?
the amount of uncommented shennanigans in this video is amazing. lol :)
This definitely does not qualiry for a "listenable" tag. Quite the opposite
Hatay and Gaziantep are in Türkiye and not in Iraq

This should be an interesting campaign. The Iraqi side is going to really struggle. The Iranians were fominant in the air cover during this conflict
