I really like these VHS cassette editions of the Ring, they look so good, Keith. It takes me back where it all started for us. I'm glad this time the VHS cover is a hard box but I would have loved if instead of the movie stills we had the "Samara`s pictures" (the ones in the movie that look like X-rays) or at least a different artwork for the stealbook (because I also have the one that you showed lol) nonetheless is a great set and great video as always Keith! I was thinking the exact same things when I first got this set through the door. How great would it have been if they included the x-rays of Samaras pictures. A missed opportunity unfortunately. As for the Steelbook I do understand why they stuck to the original artwork because they were probably thinking of people that didn't pick up the Blu-ray release. Nice1 Keith 🙂👍 I own the Blu-ray steelbook/slip version which I think is really cool but this one is even better in so many ways ! What a superb release ! One thing I only noticed today, the VHS casette image on the box (and my steelbook slip) might have too much tape ? On the left side of the image the video casette looks like it's about 40-50% played but the right side of the image looks like it's 95-100% played ? I might have too much time on my hands ! 🤣🤣🤣

Me personally Gary I think the remake is better than the original. Having said that the original is still a wonderful movie and it is the one that started it. Maybe try the remake first and if you enjoy it go from there
I just got this set in the mail today and its great! I have the original blu ray steelbook like you as well! my only gripe with this release is that because its the international version, it doesnt have the bonus features on the blu ray disc! The cursed video easter egg on the US release blu ray is one of the coolest parts of the disc! Same with the shout factory release, no cursed video easter egg. Still lots of great extra pieces and a great slipbox with this release
Thankfully I have the scream factory release so at least I'm covered when it comes to the special features. But there is no denying anyone that doesn't own that release is going to be somewhat disappointed with paramounts lack of effort in terms of features. Great unboxing, Keith. Looks like a very nice edition. However, it's a shame that Paramount didn't include at least some basic extras. And I think this film could definitely have benefitted from an Atmos mix. Well, they didn't mess up the picture quality. That's one thing to cherish. I'll maybe wait for the italian steelbook to drop in price or maybe I'll get the Shout Factory 4K edition with all three movies (although I'm not the biggest fan of number three). Today I received my Nightmare on Elm Street 4K. It doesn't look bad. However, I think they somehow cleaned it up. There's hardly any film grain to be found, even in the darker scenes. Thankfully, faces and structures in clothing etc. didn't look overly waxy. The outside daylight scenes look pretty amazing. I also liked the Atmos. So overall not a bad release. I do agree, though that Arrow or some other boutique label may have done an even better job. Hope you're enjoying the Halloween season so far. I can hardly wait for my Trick 'r Treat 4K to arrive. Have you seen the beautiful 4K steelbook of Stir of Echoes? I just love the red and black colour scheme. Looks amazing. Should be right down your alley as well, since you also love your red and black. And Lionsgate goes all in with this release with Dolby Vision and Atmos. This could very well shape up to be one of my favorite releases of the year.

I couldn't agree more. I really like Kevin Bacon. He's an amazing actor. And I love Stir of Echoes. I'm convinced that the Lionsgate release will be exactly what we've been waiting for and then some. I'm really excited for the Atmos track since Lionsgate always delivers with their Atmos tracks. Yeah, I'm not complaining about Freddy either. It's definitely better than the blu ray and the Atmos is a nice upgrade as well. I'm just glad to have it. See ya tomorrow night.

I'm waiting for this to arrive, absolutely gutted there's no special features. I've also got the scream factory set but can't watch the special features as I don't have a multiregion blu ray player (wish scream factory would put bonus features on the 4k disk). I'm fuming there's no extra features on this release, it makes zero bloody sense. Apart from that the release itself does look great.
Unfortunately Kris this is what paramount do best. There's always corners cut when it comes to any of their releases. They can deliver on a fantastic 4K picture and then half ass the audio. Shocking to think that they can bring out such a collector's release and not have any special features. But try not to let it ruin your enjoyment of the edition itself and it's wonderful 4K transfer. There is a lot of good with this release
Yeah I have to agree with you Michael maybe if they done something in terms of embossing because I wouldn't want to change the artwork. It looks fine as it is and it represents the movie very well

Kinda of disappointed they didn't include different artwork for the steel book. Or at least did some embossing.
