    One more very important "check". 12" long piece of broom handle or 3/4" dowel. Remove hood start motor flush hooked up. Hold dowel against block as it runs. The SOUNDS reveal everything happening inside. Grinds, clicks,....... Hold against new motor you'll really understand. Ask ANY mech. car, plane, space ship, he'll agree w/ me. Get Wet.

    Really solid video. Very helpful.
    I bought a small sailboat that had a steel trailer made from square tubing. The exterior was painted it looked fine. One day at the ramp. It folded like wet cardboard. The interior frame was all rust.
    Another time I bought a small sailboat from someone who was a new sailor and had capsized it after buying it. Twice. I assumed he lacked experience. The price was good. The boat looked fine.
    On my first sail I almost capsized it. It handled strangely. I got it back to the dock and was sitting in it and when I stood up I heard water lapping against something. The bay was calm. I found out the boat had an inner and outer hull and the interior was full of water.

    Great communication skills; thorough review.. It is a great functional fishing / touring boat. light weight makes it easy to handle in skinny water. I would say you are $100 fixing cracks yourself if you have the power tools and experience.

    I always get a water test. Some outboards run great on the hose but fail on the water. Not getting to wide open throttle with a load and overheating etc

    Also, when checking the transom. Use the handle of a screwdriver and tap on the transom to check for bad areas of transom. The sound when taping on transom should sound solid. If there's a hollow sound, you'll know there's a problem.

    I never strap any boat I own across the back. I have side guides on all my trailers. That constant pulling on the transom area will cause stress cracks on fiberglass or aluminum boats.

    I’m always astounded at how low the build quality is for a product made in the USA as I love American manufacturing usually, I get they price them accordingly and I do know these boats are very much enjoyed by many so I mean disrespect I just know a little on building with composites and find many elements of the build shocking

    • @OverlandFlorida
      @OverlandFlorida  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, they at least used to be priced really low. Now, they are over priced and not worth it.

      @@OverlandFlorida yeah this is true, I think as long as people understand they are a Canoe it’s okay, the sheer lack of inherent buoyancy would keep me in shore and shallow only. That’ll go under as quick as a rock with water over the gunwales.

    Really like your channel. I'm looking into a river hawk b60. How fast does yours run with that 20hp fully loaded with 500lbs? Is it as or more stable than a gheenoe lt25 or an IPB14?

    • @OverlandFlorida
      @OverlandFlorida  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s rather stable. More stable than an LT25. Not sure about fully loaded, but with about 300lbs it will run 26mph. It also depends on what pitch prop you use as well. They started making B60 again in Georgia.
