I enjoy this archetype... but when even i have to admit it's an engine instead of a full deck... that just makes me sad. Still playing it, because im a gravekeepers fan because of the aesthetic, and this is as close to modern as an egyptian theme deck has gotten. i keep trying to find places to fit it in, and it works in so many places. 8-axis, rank 8s, Synchro 10s and 12s, tribute recursion, the works. but that new Horus... it's bad enough I'm only running 1 copy out of pity for it. id actually rather run the LV horus because you can tribute a son of Horus for a level 6, knock something over, and summon the level 8 after searching the 6 via the tombs.
Am hyped to try combining them with monarchs. Use the field spell (edit: the monarch field spell, not the horus one) to lock my opponent out of the extra deck since so many modern decks require it and then tribute material that recycles itself each turn. That on top of some of the other bonus horus effects as well? Horus monarch go brrrrrrr
@@NotoriousYGO if you don't use the smaller lvl monarchs then almost everything will be lvl8 making them good Trade-In targets. My main concern is how many i should run of sarcophagus/domain of the true monarchs. They both seem easy enough to search so my gut says to run 1 of each but i also get the feeling to run 2 just incase the first copy is destroyed.
I’m honestly kind of mixed On one hand, Horus was my favorite Lv monster growing up and it’s awesome to see it getting some love it needed. And seeing it getting a actual archetype is awesome But on the other hand, it kind of sucks to see it basically being only useful as an engine deck rather than a standalone one, and that Horus itself is kind of underwhelming. Especially when its original ability is better imo. Having the ability to shut down spell cards and is not a “once per turn” is wild. But now it’s stuck with an ability that only works when your opponent removes a Horus monster on your side and it’s a once per turn. As someone who is more of a casual player than a competitive one and has been waiting years for Horus support like Armed Dragon got, I’m a bit disappointed. I still want to try it as a standalone just for the heck of it, even though it’s a bit disappointing
I’m right there with you. I love that they made a new flexible splashable engine, but I do wish they did a better job of making it function as a standalone deck. I also wish they tried to incentivize playing the old Horus cards.

Is anybody else bothered by the fact that ImSETy can't summon himself face-down? It's _right_ there, free real estate.
The dragon retain is disappointing. Not even very good. Great artwork, though.

Honestly I never considered Horus in Monarch. I’ll have to try it one day

You can, but unfortunately you don’t really get any benefit for doing so. I really wish Konami tied the old LV Horus cards better
