monkey business is strong af in standard rn, all the charge minions and spell cheating... I made a bananas shaman deck literally with it, using the naga that got nerfed
1. To be fair, The Scourge wasn't bad *initially* , but as they added more and more Undead into the game, it got easier to just get nothing with it, wasting the 9 Mana. Maybe if it summoned random undead that cost (5) or more it MIGHT be worth it. 2. Azerite Murloc just baffles me. The card is so terrible it genuinely needs a complete rework from the ground up 3. Can you imagine if Warlock or Demon Hunter had access to Cursed Blade? Holy crap
I mean seeing how solid Razzle Dazzler is, I think if Scourge had a cost floor it could be good. Although 6 mana with a body is very different from a 9 mana spell.
@@FlareIsGone Blast crystal potion has no downside after youve hit 10 mana, since the crystal it destroys is one of your rightmost spent crystals. It was pretty allright in control warlock when the next best destroy a minion was 6 mana siphon soul
Thank you for highlighting the Azerite murloc I literally hate this card that punishes you for playing it, Finley is such a great payoff, I would have rather have him be the reward. It sucks that the excavate package is not worth running in shaman
After playing azurite murloc, he evolves a lot of your excavate cards. So even if you want to play that reward, it makes it much harder to excavate more and play it again
Solution one: turn them into legendary minions(like that warlock card) Solution two: add stats and keywords into the transformed minions Solution three: combine version of one and two, wouldn't mind if they reduced or removed the "boost" of transforming into three cost more for this solution.
I ran alot of excavate shaman in standard when it was in badlands still, and the solution was to utilyze the conductivity into excavate spell combos to fill your hand with a bunch of potential minions to evolve with the murloc. my best excavate decks only ran the shaman spells, no minions, it lets you build big decks easier, make every minion a 6 or 7 drop like shudderblock, incindius, and rushers and taunters like thorignir drake, etc. you gotta know how to brew and play spell-only early game control shaman, and also have a built-in finisher for if the games go long, like conductivity JIVE INSECT for 24 dmg to face is pretty nice finisher if you can land it on a clean board lategame after youve gassed out. ETC is a nice pivot tool too, to help accellerate your excavates, or house extra minions or spells depending on how you wanna play him. shudderblock with etc is a free hand refill if you want, or a win-con.
Speaking of Monkey Business. I do remember seeing not too long someone actually getting to Legend with Monkey Business Priest of all things. With Stars Align, which is insane
stars allign is an aggressive evolve tool, look at chumps old stars allign lists. standard is insane for stars allign right now, its just the low rolls feel so bad its not fun to play for any length of time. I got most of my wins w priest that season from stars allign.
Trick totem was fun during standard, where it was a lot better due to the smaller pool for it to pick from, but I only really put it in ANY of my decks as a meme. The only time I can think of where the paladin rastakan's cards that heal and damage you can be useful is during the single player mode that came out at the time (that I still play for an ungodly amount of) because of the shrines that were specifically made to work around the very strange archetypes they were pushing at the time. The shrine that does 5 damage to your opponent whenever you take damage would be one of the most busted ones if it weren't for the warlock one that is better and directly counters it (you hit your opponent who has the paladin shrine, they do 5 damage to your face, but your shrine reflects that to your opponent's face. It loops until they're dead).
☝🤓 erm actually gloomstone guardian destroys a mana crystal and that was printed in badlands (even though nobody plays it, and even if they do they forge it first)
there is a card in standard right now that destroys a mana crystal. it's from the badlands mini-set and is a 4 mana 6/8 taunt. it sees play as a recruitable minion in the silly dungar deck edit: it's gloomstone guardian, that's what it's called.

Do want to add on the Warlock, I’m fairly certain Blastcrystal Potion saw play, hard removal was just worth it at that cost at the time (although it looks ridiculous now) and they did print another self mana destruction card in the Badlands miniset with Gloomstone Guardian. Granted the idea behind the card is it’s a choose your price card and you are never picking that option unless you desperately have to (which does mean you are losing that game).
Yeah don't get me wrong, potion did see play. I just have to talk about how unbelievably awful it is now that Siphon Soul also costs 4 now. I mainly just wanted to cover a lot of truly awful cards and didn't have that great of a way to do it
Re: Cursed Blade. Lights Justice was a 1 mana 1/4! and was released in the BASE SET. Losing one durability for plus one attack in exchange for LOSING THE GAME is fucking insane.
Pretty sure Shirvala 3tk used Thekal because of all the heal cards they wanted to run anyway but that wouldn't heal them in any non-zoo matchup. And the Shamanscavate reward was ok with Schooling and totally didn't get carried by windfury divine shield being busted. It was tempo, tempo I tellzya!
I kinda enjoy the mental image of a battlecry that is a “rest of the game” effect on a reasonably statted minion. Like, a 3 mana 3/4. Every turn, you get a temporary card from a pool of deliberately terrible cards. Vanishing at the end of the turn so it doesn’t clog your hand too much. Cards like the ones in this video, but also meme stuff like magma rager and Bolf. Deliberately terrible but if you have some extra mana, it’ll occasionally give you something ok. Absolute meme card
Azerite Murloc really bothers me on a fundamental level. I remember playing excavate shaman and ending up keeping it in my hand for turn after turn because I always found myself not wanting to transform a couple of key minions in my hand. When you compare it to Paladin's Azurite Dragon that's a giant buff to your already synergistic deck, AND puts stats on board that can immediately trade in, the drop in usefulness is so steep.
Never seen the azerite murloc. Was there a reason why it says, 'keeping their original costs' wasn't it tranformed into something else? Other cards like lady prestor change the cards and keeps the same cost and stats but I'm not understanding the murloc
Scourge being in this video is so strange coming from someone who played a lot of arena while it was in. Absolutely insane card that you saw constantly since it could be discovered of the unholy rune guy
They did print a card for losing a mana crystal. The forge card for warlock that either you lose a mana crystal or discard 2 cards or something and then forge do neither
God seeing cursed blade takes me back to when it came out and everyone was trying to make it work. I think TrumpHS made 2 videos of games trying to make control warrior work with cursed blade. It baffles me that it’s not a 3/2. Having more durability literally encourages trading into minions meaning not only do you effectively put yourself at 15 health as soon as you equip it, you’re also encouraged to hit into stuff and kill yourself FASTER.
I saw a while ago an insane list using Monkey Business and The Stars Align in Priest with the Hunter Tourist the idea is use a lot of cards that discover/generate cards (Scarab Keychain, Gorgonzomu) to always have a full hand, so you can either transform a lot of minions with Stars Align or buff a lot your minions with Monkey Business

It's my understanding you are mostly a wild player and aggro hunter is (possibly?) your favorite archetype, but monkey business is actually a key enabler card in some Standard Hunter decks, mostly with the deathrattle weapon that draws beasts based on spells played (Chump did a good demo of the combo recently). It's not Tier 1 or anything but I wouldn't call it "game-losing" either, at least when played around.
I think this was something that made me stop playing overload shaman. Inzah was cool, Pack the House as your top of curve win-more made me not wanna play the archetype, your wins are rags combos, nature combos, walking mountain abuse and thats kind of it right now... i am glad BLFW isnt in standard anymore
