I had an "I don't work here lady" moment in a Chinese restaurant at which I very often ate. I was there with my co-workers for lunch, so I was professionally dressed in a crisp white blouse, blue skirt and black heels. While I am not Chinese, I am mixed race, Bengali and Swedish, very small, with dark hair and I guess you could say a slightly exotic look. I had gone to the bathroom and on the way back a man at a table stopped me. I stopped because I figured maybe I knew him or his wife, but I didn't and he asked for a glass of water. I smiled and very politely told him I would love to get it for him but I don't work here. His wife was absolutely mortified. She started to scold him but I told her not to worry about it because I was a regular customer and he'd probably seen me there. He apologized and it all ended very peacefully.
This this why I dont eat out a Chinese restaurant's anymore. Some times a crazy angry lady or two would come up to me yelling in Chinese or just yelling at me to get back to work. I tell them I'm from Alaska and don't work there.
Considering worthless scum have shot and killed fast food workers for giving cold food or the wrong order, that type of threat should always be taken seriously.
One time parents got in physical altercation because Karen’s son started eatin like half the cake and let’s just say tazers and Gun almost drawn due to pocket knife advice for everyone don’t invite Karen’s
I'd have invited her to try and then called Chuckee's to warn them. If Hubby is dumb enough to come with her, he's gonna LOSE it with her when he finds out he was arrested all because of a WRONG NUMBER! EDIT:Oh, that's just what OP did..
Been close to 40 years since I have been to a Chuck E Cheese...Basically shortly after graduation from high school. You would never see that type of behavior back then.
I 100% empathize with the OP in story 3. I'm a museum employee and I remember the time I was at a completely different museum and caught a woman touching a bunch of stuff. I asked her why she was touching everything and she said it was fine and she wasn't hurting anything. I told her she is absolutely hurting those items because they are very old and very delicate. She began to cuss me out so I gleefully swore right back at her. She was shocked but she was the one who started yelling and swearing first. I guess she's not used to people standing up to her. She then scurried off so I called their security to report her and they proceeded to track her down via the cameras. I don't know what they did after finding her but it felt amazing to not have to hold my tongue. I can't count how many times I've been yelled at for things that are not under my control whatsoever but because I'm the available employee I get to to take the vitriol. Being able to give it right back for once was so cathartic.
Basically a reverse Karen. "Let me talk to the manager so I can praise an employee and ask for them to be promoted instead of complaining and demanding them to get fired."
Regarding the Chuck E Cheese story, I was wondering if the Karen's husband was also her brother as well as possibly being her father, uncle and grandfather too.
It seems in a lot of IDWHL stories, the Karen responds with, "Do you think I'm stupid?". My response would be, "No, I don't think you're stupid. I know you're stupid."
Indeed, they proved how stupid they were by the sheer fact they likely knew things were going Fubar, yet still refused to back down thinking somehow they'd turn it around to their favor. Only to make themselves "a bigger clown"
Right? I was shopping at an outlet store and a woman approached me. I was not dressed anything like an employee. I just have that aura about me, I guess. She said something along the lines of asking if I thought she was stupid. I told her that I knew for a fact she wasn't just stupid, but that she was a freaking moron. Her eyes bugged out of her head and her face turned red. I told her to take a good look at me and then to choose her next words carefully. She looked me up and down, turned redder and walked away. As she scurried back from the circle of hell from which she escaped, I said: “you're a freaking bitch lady.”
The manger was quick on his feet to come up with the spanking with the spatula answer for Karen. I am still cracking up. It does sound as if they are a fun couple.
Loved the last story! I thought this would be another "You helped her, so now you MUST help me"; thankfully, I was wrong. Quick thinking for both the manager and OP! 👏
Story 5: I would make sure to go in and pick up something on your way out State, like snacks or something. When your manager comes to yell at you, pull out your phone and call HR to inform them that the manager is currently treating a customer as a slave because you were once their employee. Let them have fun trying to disprove the CCTV and scheduling as a parting gift.
And why is it the floor manager can't accept that OP already quit! I can imagine them calling OP a month from now, still trying to make him come in to work.
For the Chuck E. Cheese one, the only thing I would have done differently from OP would have been the fake name I gave. I would have told her my last name was "Hunt" and my first name was "Mike"! Imagine the looks on the Chuck E. Cheese employees' and customers' faces when a Karen, accompanies by two armed goons, stormed in looking for "Mike Hunt"...
"I know you work here! I saw you here last week!" "If you were here last week, _and_ you're here again right now, doesn't that mean *_you_* work here...?"
I've never understood why users who quit but then get threatened with punishments for not coming into work after quiting never just say "You're right, I'm just such a bad employee that I guess I'm fired, which means I don't have to come in now"
I'd come into work and then report them to the Labour Board. Basically, I've got my two weeks notice, the SM approving, the time of FM's call and the CCTV. Plus, if they DO write me up out of spite, that's ANOTHER shot in the foot besides SM asking me what I'm doing there and FM being confused as to why I keep showing up as "Resigned"
Last story was so wholesome! And Greg and OP decided to play along because the lady was the anti-Karen, and rather than making her embarrassed they think they will just make her smile 😁
The first story: Telling a Karen off: Zero Dollars Getting a Karen to keep quiet for some time: Zero Dollars Embarrassing Karen to the point she leaves: Priceless.
You know what I love most about your storytelling is that even when the Karen's are the most extreme and you want to strangle them through the phone The Last Story always puts a smile on my face thank you.
Chuck E Cheese: Did she really think that 'Richie Sole' would hang around waiting to be beat up? Or that the cops wouldnt be there to greet her & her thugs? Logic clearly evaded that customer. Just as in boxing, you dont telegraph your punch without expecting to get blocked & punched yourself!
Story 3: I fully approve. Seriously, the number of times I've listened to stories in which someone's screeching "YOU HAVE TO SERVE ME!!! ARE YOU DEAF?!?" at random members of the public and the victim of their abuse is just patiently trying to explain "Uh, I don't work here, lady" and thought "why don't they just scream back? I'd fucking scream back." Props to u/LilacPenny for making my week by doing that.
@@johnrussell5592 I mean, fair enough, try to explain nicely but if they escalate to screaming at you they've basically given up their right to polite discourse.
When i worked at Dominos, had a woman threaten to have her husband come and beat me. They actually did come and try to come at me, They forgot we are in the South and he got a gun pointed at him. He backed up real quick
Story 5: the audacity of the floor manager to put OP back on the schedule when it was quite clearly written and on the system OP officially quit the job on certain date. All because they couldn't be bothered to find anyone else. I actually hope the higher ups got involved and gave the floor manager a warning not to make employees work off the clock.
Omg I wish I could have seen and heard that manager say he will spank her with a spatula! I was laughing so hard just hearing Fluff say it! 🤣 I would probably been dying of laughter should I have been there! 😆😅🤣🙃
When you hear a Karen ask "do you think I'm stupid?" my response would have been "do you want me to answer that? do you 'really' want me to answer that?"
I LOL'ed at the manager telling Karen that the not-an-employee will be spanked with a spatula later. I'm guessing that is the kind of joke that either a SO can say, or someone who has a good relationship with the not-an-employee. Can't do that with a stranger, no matter how funny it is and embarassing it is for the Karen.
Story number 5... I used to work for UPS. I gave it two week notice and on my last day, The hub manager asked me to give them two more weeks. I told him I couldn't be cause I had to start my other job in the next day. He told me that he would be listing me as quitting without a notice.
Story 5: "This is called a 'Notice', not a 'Request'. I will not be here. Figure it out." - Ricky I know I got the quote way off, but hopefully I paraphrased it right.
The last story was lovely. The lady was so sweet and the manager and OP were good not to confuse the sweetheart. That store sound like an amazing place to work
Would have been too obvious (the Asses part would give away it's a fake name! I know Karens are stupid creatures, but I don't think their THAT stupid! Plus she wouldn't have made a fool of herself in Chuck E Cheese screaming an obviously fake name! She'd have realized around when the phone call end! While funny she made a fool of herself! The fact she actually went through with her threat with the "Two Men" as they had a Outstanding Warrant and one of them had a weapon they weren't suppose to have! Yeah it's good she made a fool of herself and the only harm that happened was her pride as I'm sure her husband and brother aren't going to be happy they got arrested cause of her ego! Not that it excuse the fact they "played along" like idiots! so their arrest was their own fault more then hers)
I think when I finally give my two-week notice at my customer service job, my manager is just going to tell me to go ahead and go home. There are a lot of years of built-up frustration behind my customer service veneer.
Story 3: No OP...you did exactly what you were supposed to do. You treated an idiot exactly like she treated you...with scorn & distain...as all Karen's should be treated. Story 6: A totally awesome Wholesome IDWHL! And the Sweet Lady is totally right...the smaller stores are the best place to shop because they really do care :)
Story 6: So darn wholesome! I can understand if OP said, "I don't work here but I will help you" but that would embarass the SL that she mistook a customer for an employee. So heartwarming that OP and the Manager kept up the charade to give SL a warm fuzzy feeling. I thought that OP would help SL find something, then a wild Karen would rudely demand OP's help as well. That's normally how these stories go.
Story 2: Threatening an employee is already way over the line. More concerning is the fact that hearing said employee tearfully begging didn't *immediately* make her stop and say something like "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get hostile, I've been under a lot of stress, I shouldn't take it out on you," etc., but instead seemed to _reinforce_ her attitude. Like she thought "This is good, I'm winning, I should keep it up!" Don't know if it was runaway ego or just pure psychosis, but it sounds like she and her two goons got what they deserved.
On the second I would pay cash money to see what Karens face look like when she got arrested I hope they press charges for threatening physical harm and since I have worked in customer service for over six years I feel like I’ve earned the right to say the customer isn’t always right
I'm a bit under the weather and have binged your channel for days. Such immense gratification to hear all of these 'Karens' getting what's coming to them. Thank you soooo much for doing the work to create these videos. I love 'em.
Having to return to the workforce after about 30 years of raising our children. I filled in an open slot that my son left at a local pharmacy when he switched to a different store. Not the same position of course as he was by then in 'management'. I just run the front cash register. As it turns out, I'm pretty good at it. Listening to these stories makes me appreciate my wonderful customers so much more, as they are some of the finest people around. Well, at least up front, it seems that most of the Karen and Kevin types are in the pharmacy line. THAT'S where the stories are. Unfortunately, an incident happened with one of our young employee while I was on my dinner break, so I was not there to put a stop what was going on. She left the store crying and saying that she quit....all because apparently she got cut in line. Bear in mind, when a drunkard was cutting up one night, and I told my children about the incident, one of my boys stated, "So, it's a closed casket funeral for him then?" Perhaps this is why God lets these things happen when I'm on break, because He knows full well that I will go full redhead on them and get myself hurt or in trouble!
I know this video was posted a LONG time ago but I am catching up LOL, as someone who was once a teenager working at a Chuck E Cheese, YES. Grown ass adults have no qualms with threatening the employees there. I was 16 and had a drunk dude spitting in my face one day because I told him I wasn't old enough to pour his beer, he couldn't wait the two minutes it would take to call my manager up to pour it for him. That is just ONE of many episodes of being yelled at by grown adults.
@@rachelrossetti2342 I’m really sorry to hear that. But I’m also glad that it hasn’t made you a bad person. Someone less patient could have really caused some damage. I felt you were an example already. Hearing that you had a trying life, impresses me even more. You eaten it all up!
Last story: The quick-thinking manager pretended OP worked there so as not to embarrass the old lady with the realization that she mistook another customer for an employee. Props to the manager, and props to OP for playing along. 👍
Last story: "I know the place like the back of my hand." So do I at my local supermarket, until they get a wild hair and rearrange all their stock! (It isn't just big box stores like Sam's Club and Walmart that do that folks, it happens in small local grocery stores as well!)
I'm trying to figure out how that store manager thought he could force that "moving out of state" lady to come in to work after she quit. What was he going to do? Fire her? Derrrrrrrrp
I had a customer who came in moody. When she was leaving she said we were all rude. And said I was the ruddest when I didn’t do anything wrong. I said thank you. She said you’re welcome. Customers were laughing. I said have a nice day as she left.
Story 4: I will never get tired of the people who play the Uno Reverse card on entitled wastes of skin. They have far more patience than I would in their situations. Story 5: "And I have the paper trail proving that Wednesday was my last day... hang up now, and I'll THINK about not reporting you to the District Manager, Regional Manager, and Corporate for taking it upon yourself to schedule me after my end date and threatening me with wage theft."
1:12 not saying thank you after holding a door for someone is a personal pet peeve, I've taken to loudly saying "you're welcome" at them if they don't acknowledge the curtesy.
I find it so bizarre how Karens always call people lazy, when they are most likely lazy themselves. And how they so often say, "do I look stupid" or something like that, and yes, yes, you do look stupid! Hahaha
Story 1 has me roflmao! The manager was epic! What i don't understand is when these Karen's are told someone doesn't work there why they continue to insist the person does? Do they have brain damage from all the fumes from their spray on orange tan or are they so stupid & entitled they feel they are in the right & the world must curtsey & kiss 💋 the ring 💍 SMFH some people shouldn't be allowed out in public
You know, they think that the worker tries to brush them off, because the worker is lazy, and then the manager tries to brush them off, too. Karens refuse to be wrong, they think that the world will bend over to their wishes, so if they decide some random person works at some place, they are working there, full stop. Idk how delusional can someone be to think like that, smh.
There is a special kind of idiot who simply cannot conceive of the concept that they could have made a mistake. In IDWHL, they are the mainstay. In Tales From Tech Support, they are the users insisting that the computer, not them, forgot their password.
My now husband and 5 of our friends made up half the staff at a chinese buffet. The owners preferred to pay ppl under the table, the servers (drinks & clearing plates) preferred to not claim cash tips, it worked out great. Despite never working in a restaurant I was hired as a hostess, I had my boyfriends code to put in drink orders when he was busy. When I sat ppl that were A holes I not only “don’t have a way to put in your drink order” but I also told him they were A holes… and it took extra long to take their order & get their drinks to the table.
Story 1: Ooh, kinky, heheheheh Story 2: That sounds like one of those prank calls Bart Simpson does on Moe's Tavern. Story 5: That's one funny floor manager, acting like a mini-store manager.
That last story reminds me of how I decieved an old lady at the nursing home, where I was the baker in the kitchen. I was going down the hall to a special dining room and a little old lady in a wheelchair plucked at my sleeve She told me she'd heard I had been fighting with my brothers again( sh beleived me a family member) and wanted me to make peace for the sake of the family I hung my head and told her I'd been feeling bad about that and I'd see what I could do about it; She wheeled away happyl. If I'd tried to tell her she was mistaken she would have been confused and unhappy. It's a white lie I don't regret.
I'm glad they had the cops there, but egging on psychos is kind of dangerous. What if that crazy lady walked into chuck e cheese with a gun? She sounds super unstable
So anyone else wondering what power trip that floor manager is on putting someone back on the schedule without checking with the store manager if it was okay or even why the person was removed to begin with?
I have had plenty of IDWHL moments in my younger days on some stores, particularly Game Stop and Walmart (in the gaming section). Was definitely not wearing anything remotely close to the uniform. No crazy Karen moments; just some forgiving for bothering. Maybe it's the energetic presence I have in those places. I would have given some advise if I felt like they needed some help. Granted, it's all experience in Puerto Rico. Karen's are a rarity there, especially in the south where I live. Maybe more frequent in the metro area.
Turn the tables on Karen is fun. Pretend to work here and lead her on a merry chase through every department (except the one she needs) is my favorite though LoL
It works well because Karens believe that store employees are inferior beings who exist only to serve them. Being mistaken for one is the supreme insult.
He's wrong that Karens don't serve anyone, they do serve people but ONLY if the person is senior to them and they can benefit, that's why we've Owners and Managers wo are Karens
On that spanking with the spatula thing I’d be like “Oooooh daddy, give it to me!” Making EVERYONE uncomfortable lol. Or just brightly exclaim “OH! THANK YOU, SIR, MAY I HAVE ANOTHER?!”
Why do people answer their phones? My phone doesn't even ring unless the caller is in my address book. Also, even if I did work somewhere, if I saw someone harassing a customer OR an employee, they wouldn't be getting served by me. And if I owned the place I would ban them right there.
Story 1: I feel so bad for her (the gf) I appreciate Op and how he handled it and his extra tip. I ALWAYS tip extra if I see my waiter/waitress dealing with some Karen when ever I’m somewhere and see them being treated awfully because in my mind they probably tipped shit and I want to make up for that person. I’ve tipped $30 before (even though my dinner was only $15) just because of someone else’s actions and me overhearing them tell the waitress “you don’t deserve a tip”! She thanked me over and over and tried to offer me some free soup to go but I declined. It wasn’t about getting something it was about her knowing there are people who appreciate what she does and trying to make up for that table who was there for over 2 hours taking up her time with other tables she could have and leaving her nothing.
I had an "I don't work here lady" moment in a Chinese restaurant at which I very often ate. I was there with my co-workers for lunch, so I was professionally dressed in a crisp white blouse, blue skirt and black heels. I'm guessing that is the kind of joke that either a SO can say, or someone who has a good relationship with the not-an-employee. Can't do that with a stranger, no matter how funny it is and embarassing it is for the Karen.
I so love stories where they turn Karens and Kevins into employees! LOL🤣😂
Story number 5... I used to work for UPS. I gave it two week notice and on my last day, The hub manager asked me to give them two more weeks. I told him I couldn't be cause I had to start my other job in the next day. He told me that he would be listing me as quitting without a notice.
Story 5:
"This is called a 'Notice', not a 'Request'. I will not be here. Figure it out." - Ricky
I know I got the quote way off, but hopefully I paraphrased it right.
"Do you think I'm stupid?"
You:"Well, you've offered no evidence to the contrary so I'd have to say yes."
The last story was lovely. The lady was so sweet and the manager and OP were good not to confuse the sweetheart. That store sound like an amazing place to work
"Trying to unsubscribe from existance". That, for some reason, just cracked me up. 🤣🤣
I did not expect that sweet ending to the last story! That is truly awesome!
the last story was the best wholesome story
I'm disappointed he didn't give Karen the name Seymour Asses.
I would have said : Stay on the line ma'am. 911 is underway.
Yeah. I was hoping for something a little more creative. Like Hugh Jass or Ben Dover.
Or, if OP had been female, Shirley Eugest.
Or the classic Mike Hawk
"I saw you here last week"
"and I saw you, so clearly you work here "
Story 2: Threatening an employee is already way over the line. Like she thought "This is good, I'm winning, I should keep it up!"
Don't know if it was runaway ego or just pure psychosis, but it sounds like she and her two goons got what they deserved.
On the second I would pay cash money to see what Karens face look like when she got arrested I hope they press charges for threatening physical harm and since I have worked in customer service for over six years I feel like I’ve earned the right to say the customer isn’t always right
I would definitely love to hear more wholesome I don't work here stories. That old lady was so sweet!!
The RAID ad just told me to "stop everything I'm doing" now I'm involved in a car accident.... great..
Hey Fluff, just wanted to thank you for every time you have ended on a wholesome story. It really helps! 💚💚💚🤘
W😮w! Your self control is commendable. Thank you for the example. I would probably have ended up in juvie.
@@bekkakay8573 wasn’t anything that I wasn’t used to at home sadly. It actually helped me learn how to better react to my parents doing the same.
Love hearing about good things happening! It's a Great relief from all the crazy people! Keep giving us good stories!
Story 5: I would have called corporate and told them what the floor manager was doing.
Last story: "I know the place like the back of my hand."
So do I at my local supermarket, until they get a wild hair and rearrange all their stock! (It isn't just big box stores like Sam's Club and Walmart that do that folks, it happens in small local grocery stores as well!)
I would have reported the floor manager to corporate with the recordings of the voice messages
I'm trying to figure out how that store manager thought he could force that "moving out of state" lady to come in to work after she quit. What was he going to do? Fire her? Derrrrrrrrp
Story 1: anyone thinking Karen thinking she is in a restaurant full of deviants?
In Australia, if a "Manager" tried to "discipline" staff....they would be lynched. Strict laws against that.
I had a customer who came in moody. When she was leaving she said we were all rude. And said I was the ruddest when I didn’t do anything wrong. I said thank you. She said you’re welcome. Customers were laughing. I said have a nice day as she left.
The last story was HILARIOUS!!! Thanks for sharing
“Trying to unsubscribe from existence” 😂 thats a new one to me and funny
I love the happy last story trend. Keep it up! 🥰
Story 1: Ooh, kinky, heheheheh
Story 2: That sounds like one of those prank calls Bart Simpson does on Moe's Tavern.
Story 5: That's one funny floor manager, acting like a mini-store manager.
Number 1, the answer is "yes!" Whenever anyone has to ask if we think they're stupid, they just illustrate why!
Story 5: the OP was a much better person than I am lol! I would've kept answering, and antagonizing the manager!!!
When telling a karen your name, you should say, "last name is Oxurt, 1st name is Mike"
I would say Mike Rouch. Pure Simpson
These stories are hilarious and doesn't make my blood boil. Keep it up, DarkFluff!
What a sweet lady in the last story ❤
I always love wholesome idwhl stories
Very good story's, I loved it!
That one Karen saying "ew no I don't work here" tells you all about how they have 0 respect for customer service workers
Anyone: *literally just minding their own business*
EP: IS THIS A PERSONAL ATTACK
That last one brought a smile to my face, that's the kind of people that make life worth living!💖💖💖
Love to listen to your videos while at work. It really helps to pass the time
LOVE the last story!
Why do people answer their phones? My phone doesn't even ring unless the caller is in my address book. Also, even if I did work somewhere, if I saw someone harassing a customer OR an employee, they wouldn't be getting served by me. And if I owned the place I would ban them right there.
Karen: Do i look stupid?
Me: All evidence points to that, yes.
No, Karen, you look very nice. However, you do SOUND quite stupid.
Story 1: I have a feeling after the restaurant closed up for the evening, the manager did infact spank his gf with a spatula.
Bet it wouldn't be the first time either
Spatulas are excellent spankers
@@greed94 my best spanker is also my best pancake flipper
Yes. I think it might have been in his plans before the Karen even showed up.
Good afternoon DF. Thanks for the stories. Have a good day
That last one was a breath of fresh air from all the Karens. 😂😌
Can we all appreciate the way Fluff opens each video?
Do reversal and say the Karen should get back to work before corporate hears about her behavior
