Does the old motor still work with the ESC? Looks like the old motor is sensorless and maybe the new motor is sensored. For a new ESC you can buy a Hobbywing BL120 Sensored/Sensorless ESC from Amain for $47.... decent ESC for that price.
I've experienced this a few times. It's usually 3 things. Weak transmitter batteries, low voltage cut off(get the program card)!! Or calibration. It's usually the last 2. BJ's random rc has the best video for calibration. Had to do it at least 6 times in 2 years after I fiddled with stuff.
