In answer to your question "Why are Ford still making that part for a 2007 Focus?" It's probably because MOST of Europe, Africa, Australia, New Zealand the Far East, the Indian sub continent and Asia still drive manual cars and THAT particular manual gearbox is probably still being made and fitted to stick shift Ford's to this day. It's just an oddity in North America. There are quite literally millions of manual Ford Focus cars all over the world. That would also explain why it's been revised over the years ( to fit more modern gearboxes).
It’s the same for my Buick Lucerne; they still use my BCM in the full size vans as well as the rear parking sensors so they are still available brand new from GM (but they are stupidly expensive).
You can cross Aus off that list now. Unfortunately There is now only a small number of enthusiast cars, utes / four wheel drives and budget cars available here with a manual transmission. Changed that way 10-15 years ago
I really like when you fix and flip cars like this! It's like the first time I started watching you years ago. Can't wait to watch you finish it and polish it out!!!
I‘d love to see a full tune up and a detail of the car. This grey plastic needs to be all black again. Looking forward to that! Great series 👍 Cheers mate
Manual transmissions are very common in Europe. It seems likely the part is recently manufactured because the transmission is still being used on current vehicle(s).
I had an 05 Focus Ghia here in Aus, sedan made in South Africa that I bought in ‘11 with 20 thousand kilometres (12 thousand miles) basically brand new, with climate control Ac, high end sound system with sub woofer , cream leather power seats and 4 speed automatic transmission, cruise control, abs brake system (no esp) 4 air bags and 16 inch alloy wheels with 205/50 tyres, it was $30k new and I got it for $15k and the dealer gave me a cheque trading in my Territory Ghia SUV with 150k km on it, best steering of any vehicle bar none, handling was superb, they were all noisy and I considered putting in a heap of sound deadening to quiet it down but traded it in on my turbo Falcon 3 years later
Wow, I never knew that Ford made a Focus Ghia or even that there was a RHD version of it. For used to make a ton of Ghia-trimmed models here in the US, My grandmother had a green Granada Ghia from the mid 70s but they all but disappeared here sometime between the late 70s and early 80s. I’m actually pleasantly surprised that Ford still made Ghias as recently as the mid 00s in the land down under. I’ll have to find me one to see online now.
Yes, we had Ghia for the top spec of most of our models, focus Ghia till the end of mk2, about 2011, Falcon and Fairlane until 2008, territory until 2011, and others before that, Also my focus was a mk2 in 2005 but the one JR has is a mixture of the mk2 front and mk1 rear and a mk2 dash, the rear being the hardest part to update, but the front of the mk1 and 2 structure were very similar if not the same
I was the original owner of a 2009 Focus Titanium. I sold it with 175,000 miles to a friend's son, who drove it for years without any issues other than wear items and maintenance. Sadly, he hit a deer on the highway, which totaled the vehicle.
I have an automatic 03 Focus, 2.3L with 391,000 miles that I use as my daily driver. Bought of a co-worker because the manifold/catalytic unit went bad that I replaced with a LQK one for $150 I replaced the transmission 100K ago but the engine sounds and runs like a top. Great dependable car I love it and will drive it till the wheels fall off.

The cruise control may not be working because too much play between the clutch switch and the tang on the clutch pedal. You can test it by putting your foot behind the clutch pedal. Lift it upward to full up, if the cruise then turns on the distance between the switch and tang is too far. The cruise thinks clutch pedal is down and won't turn on. Had 10 of those cars. Thanks for the Gabe humor. Loved those Focus hatchbacks. I had my 03 for 10 years without a single drive train breakdown. Had bought it used at the end of 04. Loved it and was sad to see it go. Turned out that 8 years of Ontario salty roads did create a rust issue. The next owner retired it at 15 years of age due to chassis and suspension rust.
If the cruise is not working, check the brake switch. I had the exact same issue on my 05 where I had to use my foot to pull out the brake pedal for the cruise to engage. It was very sensitive until I replaced the switch.
I recall my dad having a Taurus SES rental back in the mid 2000s. That car was about as basic as it got for that trim, so it was deemed the Taurus Sorry Edition -- though we discovered later that it got decent gas mileage, so it became the Sorry Edition with Savings.
@16:16 -does it need a motor mount(s)? -probably the reason the shifter is so readily available/still manufactured is because people race those cars still. -the battery has at least one bad cell, that’s why the gauge cluster needles are fidgeting. Replace that battery even though it’s working! It’ll save you a possible headache with selling it. My ‘04 F-150 did the same thing and I finally replaced the battery after months of trying to figure out the issue. I didn’t want to spend the money but when it came to that sweet point of enough cells failing, even though I was reading and the store was reading enough voltage, o’reillys tester said it had bad cells. Replacing it, fixed that. And of course it started stronger.
Both our daughters had Ford Focuses, one an ‘04 and the other an ‘05 in college and they were amazing cars. The ‘05 had 259k when we bought it and was still is super shape. The ‘04 was perfect. Great cars!

I had a 2007 ZX5 SES (Canadian Spec) fully loaded except front seat side airbag option (side air bags in the front seats was still an option back then). Had the Sony premium sound system with subwoofer and steering wheel mounted controls (a control pod on the left side), leather, heated seats, block heater, manual, sunroof and the GFX package (called the SAP - Street Appearance Package in the US). That was a rally inspired front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts and larger rear spoiler. Much like your Focus, had issue with the door handles breaking driver and eventually passenger. There is a tiny piece of metal that breaks off inside and renders the handles useless. Also the motor mounts needed replacement as they caused vibration when blown (hydraulic fluid mounts - except dogbone). Had to fix broken wiring where the hatch pivots due to use/stress on wires over the years (pulled the rear hatch harness and spliced in about 10 wires). Also has what Ford called a 'lifetime' air filter - doesn't come out like normal air filters. I think they stopped that after a few years. The exhaust heat shields all eventually rattled due to corrosion at the mounting bolts eating away at the heat shield (salt from the roads did most of that). The rocker drain holes eventually rusted closed and had to drill new ones as they held water. Loved driving the manual. Treated the hatchback more like a mini pickup by removing the back seats for most of its life. Had it for 11 years before selling it.

Engine accessory belts etc. On any car that sits that long. You can risk it with water pump & thermostat depending condition. A complete set of radiator & heater hoses would be good 👍 insurance too.
It looks like it's missing the cold weather package, I don't see controls for the heated seats, strange because it has leather, but heated seats were still an option.
I had 2 of these back in the day - a 2002 ZTS Mach Audio edition sedan with a 5-speed and black/orange interior, and a 2006 SES sedan with a 5-speed, much like this hatchback but wasn't as loaded (didn't have leather or the nice stereo, I put in aftermarket components on that one). Both were great driving cars and were a blast to flog around, even though they only had like 130hp or so. . . Always wanted an SVT model but they are hard to find not roached out. In contrast, my brother still owns a 2014 Titanium sedan with the Powershift transmission and he absolutely hates the car because the transmission is so bad. A shame that Ford basically ruined the reputation of the later generation cars because of the transmission, because the earlier cars like this were low-key fun to drive in a lot of ways.
A transmission shop one day told me to put standard 10w30 engine oil in a manual transmission and it works just fine. Thinking about it, that's how a original Mini was setup, with the gearbox in the oil pan, so it makes sense.

My Zetec-powered car used to eat aftermarket passenger side motor mounts, which made for lots of extra NVH. They are junk, found a solid rubber one and it worked until the car was retired due to body rot.
I had a 03 Focus ZTW it was loaded had heated leather seats, sunroof, 6 disc cd changer, 16in alloy wheels, fog lights, heated mirror, traction control and ABS for 03 and being an economy car I would consider that very loaded
I'm sure you got it fixed up and with the body parts stuck back on and it being able to move you have a decent car that should be easy to sell for minor profit, watching now.
Focuses can be really nice. I got my 2014 5 speed for way cheaper than civics go for and it has been flawless. Heated seats and bluetooth standard make it such a good little daily. Funnily enough the mk3 still uses the same 2.0 mazda engine in this car you have.
@almost the end Another thing I found with my ‘04 f-150 was that the insurance (progressive) replaces the windshield with factory glass… for my truck it was due to the “f-150” and detail in the windshield- maybe the focus is similar? Factory glass is always a winner in my book, aftermarket doesn’t hold a candle to factory integrity/longevity!
I’d love to buy that Focus for my daughter’s first car who just got her license. I had an 05 that was still running strong when I got rid of it close to 300k miles.

There are at least 2 or 3 2006-2011 Focuses just on my street and the streets near me. Very common car in the UK and the vast majority are manual transmission. I think they keep making this part because people keep needing it...

Hey JR, just wanted you to know in case you didn't notice it. That driver's side tire is bad, it looks to have a big bulge in the sidewall of the tire. Still a pretty good deal for free and few hundred bucks.
I co signed for a girlfriend To buy one of those in 2009. She paid it off and kept it for years. A couple 100000 miles later. She finally got a new car. Best two hundred and thirty dollars a month ever. Although it was the weirdest model i've ever seen. It had the Subwoofer in the hatch like that. But cloth manual seats that were heated. I’d love to buy that Focus for my daughter’s first car who just got her license. I had an 05 that was still running strong when I got rid of it close to 300k miles.
I want a house update lol 😊 but this was good ole jr go upload
This would be my spec of Focus. Loaded manual transmission. Let me know when you go to sell it!
12:03 *metallic mac and cheese sounds intensify*
You mean bumper cover, the bumper is already on.
The Focus is very popular in Europe and other parts of the world, so that's why the part is still be produced.
i bought a new 07 focus coupe hatchback obviously back in 07 blue loved that car
Its been 400 years ive been waiting for old Watchjrgo video + Gabe the harassment cameraman 😮😂🎉
"The time has come,' the Walrus said,
To talk of many things:
Of shoes - and ships - and sealing-wax -
Of cabbages - and kings -
And why the sea is boiling hot -
And whether pigs have wings.'"
Cheap car, dude.
Lotsa cars have odd blinker noises now (like Rivians that sounds like someone's tapping on the back of the screen trying to get out) but the first time I was in a 1st gen Focus that popping noise it makes made me laugh nonstop for some reason.
I would really like to see if the paint can buff out. That car will make a great first car for someone
It will buff out. Had similar Focus from 2001 (EU) with 1.6. Their paint is stronger than some new cars metal 😂
I love driving this generation of Focus. It's like a go kart
There are at least 2 or 3 2006-2011 Focuses just on my street and the streets near me. Very common car in the UK and the vast majority are manual transmission. I think they keep making this part because people keep needing it...
I guess I will be the first one to comment about the bolt joke! Yeah JR, that came out really bad!😂
Can’t wait for stereo install.
Love this! Yeah give it some more love by detailing it and get it real nice. Would make it a totally great driver.
Today's episode is brought to you by the word hard, hard, hard, 20:54. By the way, shout out to the homie Gabe. Update: I watched this sequence an unhealthy number of times that I shouldn't be admitting. I know JR did not do the arm flex thing after several "hard" man chants. I can't with you sir. lol
🍺😂👍🏼
9:22 the people who are into reverse lights are your bored local police officer, sheriffs deputy.
Am I the only one who kept shouting "Roll the Window Down!!" up until 16:35? 😂
Hey JR, just wanted you to know in case you didn't notice it. That driver's side tire is bad, it looks to have a big bulge in the sidewall of the tire. Still a pretty good deal for free and few hundred bucks.
Fuchs is a big oil producer here in Germany, and i would assume they provided the rust protection and plastic for packaging.
I use to drive those cars when they was brand new in 07
Speaking of st, i love my fiesta st! So much fun
I had to replace one thing in my transmission. The shift solenoid. Otherwise, the transmission is factory. 280,000 miles.
7:53 😂
That lockout with reverse is for that so you couldn’t accidentally put reverse from 5th gear but you have to put in neutral and then the reverse
I had a zx3 and I loved it
I heard Fonzie again Ayyyyy.
And it was also an SES. Automatic with no sunroof
Nice I’ve scrapped 2 dozen of them all of them completely rotted
You deserved a good break with an old car, must be one of the truly rare well made Fords
Full send the focus!
I don't trust the Master pro gear oil, the ford motor co gear oil ftw
Full synthetic honey!
I watched Midnight Mass on Netflix this week. The dude that stars in it named Riley look exactly like Mr. JrGo. Or at least could be his brother. 🤣🤣
My kid traded a 160k trailblazer for a 60k 07 focus in 2012. It has 165k today. No issues ever.
Every time I see a Focus (the name) it reminds me of the Grandma in the Closet Scene from American Wedding... "Focus!... Focus!"
all costs just maintainence not bad for 'free'
