Q: Where is the music from? / The music sounds like...
A: The first track is a reference to the Environmental Intrigue track in Metroid Fusion. Then it's a reference to Ikana Valley, Shadow Temple, and the theme that plays in Romani Ranch when you protect it from aliens / ghosts.
Q: Is this a ROM hack or an animation?
A: A ROM hack. I've been hacking EarthBound since more than a decade ago, I have other videos about it! Only Garfield's final form and the battle backgrounds were edited in.
Q: What did you use to make this?
A: While CoilSnake is a much more reliable tool, I used PK Hack as well as Visual CCScript (for custom text and scripts). I made the graphics in MSPaint XP, Clip Studio Paint, and PK Hack's built-in graphics editor.
Q: Is there a download available?
A: Unfortunately there is not. This is because I only made what you see here; there is nothing before or after, only this content for entertainment purposes. It took about a week or more to get all of this ready, so doing an entire, fully-fledged game would take forever and I would like to focus on different ideas. Feel free to make your own work if you want to though!
Q: Will you upload the music? / Is there a download for the music?
A: Once I am done with my current projects, I will release all of the music from my latest videos!

I have never been actually creeped out from an EarthBound ROM before:
*Edit:* I’ve never been more terrified from an EarthBound ROM before. It really took “Bullets won’t work, Jon.” to a whole new level.
I kind of miss the sort of creepy ambience old games could have. Especially those with pixel art or low-poly models so I was going for something similar. Hope it was as enjoyable as it was scary!

I also like the Ikana Valley theme at 6:02, it actually fits perfectly with the Cave of the Past/Dierdre sounds

This is exactly the kind of thing I love randomly finding here on YT. The overworld sprites were topnotch, even how Jon's changed slightly in the Giygas land was a subtle, but perfect touch.

I unfortunately forgot to remove the robot step sound effects but it kind of adds to the mystery of the area. Maybe Jon is simply walking on a rotten, metallic lasagna.

Oh yeah, the only way to get the good ending is to fight Garfield on Monday, fair warning though, he's way stronger and you definitely need better equipment when facing him.
Then, and only then, will you get the Good Ending.
Even if you manage to save Odie, and find more ammo for the shotgun, it'll be a long and hard battle to kill Giygarfield.
To save Odie, you must press B as Odie scampers towards the door to call him back. Then, you can explore with him. You need him, because he's the only one that can revive Jon. Trust me, Jon's gonna have a rough time. Jon revives with 30 HP.
You must go to the Kitchen first. If you go to the Living Room, Garfield will find Jon. Jon will immediately pick up his shotgun from the bathroom, and go shortly after to the Afterlife with Odie. If you save Odie, you only get 5 actions in the house before Garfield finds you and automatically sends you to the Afterlife,so make them count.
I haven't figured out a way to win the fight, but I know that Giygarfield will attempt to show his full power, despite the fact that it's Monday. When he turns into Omegarfield, you need to use an Act, and scroll through the messages to find "It's Monday, Garfield." Only then, Jon will regain confidence, and after Giygarfield expresses disgust briefly, you can begin the actual fight. After that is beyond me.
What I know is that you must look through the Fridge beforehand to get enough food to survive the attacks with just 100 HP.
If Jon's HP dips below 30, the next action Garfield gets will be to rip his tongue out, preventing him from speaking. This is most likely an instant loss, even if you heal or revive Jon, as you will likely need to use your words in some form later on, and you can't regain your tongue in any way other than resetting the game. However, this only applies if you have less than 30 HP when he attacks. You will always go first, so you can use an item to avoid your tongue being lost. In this video, the only food item the player got was a Rotten Pizza. You need more than that to survive.
If Jon ever dies, even if Odie remains, don't let Giygarfield get another turn until Jon is alive again. If you fail to stall him before you can revive Jon, Giygarfield will turn Jon into his ultimate lasagna, resulting in a game over.
Odie seems to not be targeted much by Giygarfield, but when he takes damage, you MUST heal him. There is no way to revive Odie, so if he dies, unless near the very end probably, you need to reset.
I'm still grinding to hopefully get better luck with attacks, I don't know what else to do. Hopefully this helps you, though!
Nah you just need the newspaper
I just tried keeping the newspaper in place of the shotgun. It, surprisingly, deals significantly more damage, and has no limitation to it, whereas the shotgun was limited by its' ammunition. This helped me both with getting more food before the warp happened, and with dealing damage to Giygarfield. With this, I finally reached his "desperation attack", which means all I have to do is get past it and deal the final blow, but it just deals too much damage... It always kills odie instantly, and deals about 130 HP of damage to Jon, bypassing the rolling HP gimmick by taking up the time with a high pitched, high volume shriek. Jon also only has 100 HP, with no discovered ways to get more. I've looked all over for ways to improve Jon's defense, or Jon's max HP, but it's all come to nothing. It's a game, so it's gotta be possible. Giygarfield has to be defeatable, in some shape or form. I'll look into gaining HP or Defense, or maybe a different action directly before Jon's fate is sealed. I'm unsure of what to do.
@@ph03n1xm9 actually wait, you didn't know about the trick that raises jon's HP? You go to the fridge and find all the food items. But if you have max hp while consuming a food, you get +1 hp. There are 30 foods in there, but normally your inventory limit is 10. However, if you find the hidden backpack, which is hidden behind the couch, you can raise the limit to 25, but still not enough. However, if you grab the only other inventory size increasing item, the cardboard box that had nothing in it, you can raise the limit to 40; more than enough to hold your key items, all 30 items in the fridge, and the rotten pizza. However, now that you have no healing, you have to get one secret food item; the lasagna. It heals you by 100 HP. It can be found in the 8th cabinet from the left, and has to be microwaved for 60 seconds. However, you have to get really lucky with attacks. As it turns out, if garfield makes you reach *exactly* 30 health and then you you use a bandage which can be found in the basement, by giving nermal the first aid kit by pressing B while it's the first slot in your inventory while talking to her. It heals exactly 1 hp, and only works if you have exactly 30 health, which only happens 1 in 16 runs, so if you're lucky, the bandage will cause you to not lose your tounge. Once you have 31 hp, you have to eat the lasagna and survive the rest of the phase without getting hit, and do what you said. Now that you have 131 hp now, however, you survive the 130 damage attack. However, that's not garfield last attack, as he comes back again after a few seconds of a black screen. This weird 4th phase looks kinda like the 3rd phaze, except it has a more glitchy background. Let me know what you work out from there.
@@voidsans7592 It's going to take a lot of luck and guesstimating. Giygarfield has no visible HP bar, but by looking through the raw values in an emulator, I've determined he has 6667 HP during Phase 3. The first time he hits 0 HP, he gains 100 HP on his next turn and uses "ALL FOR THE LASAGNA" repeatedly until he loses all of his HP (I think). The second time he bottoms out, I haven't discovered yet, but I've had luck with it, being able to get past the attack, but not being able to reliably deal enough damage in one turn. As I'm typing this, I'm still grinding to make the Newspaper's damage roll a perfect 100. It can roll anywhere from 75 to 100 damage. Also, don't forget that this is a turn-based game, you can't avoid an attack unless you get lucky. So, the best idea I've gotten is to avoid dodging as much as possible, with this method:
Get his HP to 23 or less, but not 0, for an Odie attack to get a guaranteed final blow(Add up all damages throughout the battle, ensure they enter a range from 6644-6666)
Get my HP to 30
ON THE SAME TURN:
Jon uses the Bandage trick on Nermal to make Jon gain 1 HP
Nermal uses the Lasagna on Jon, healing him to 131 HP
Odie deals the "final" blow
Everyone except Jon dies to Giygarfield's attack
Deal a perfect newspaper attack and make it to Phase 4
Who the hell playtested this? I'mma continue grinding on this, though.

Criticisms of this:
I really like how this imitates the Earthbound style.
Some parts feel way too over-the-top, like a literal bath full of blood.
Bullets not working for anyone is legitimately amazing.
What is this "truth" Garfield speaks of? We never learn it.
Some parts of this video are genuinely, utterly, 100% nightmare fuel.
Other parts of this video try so hard to be scary (like the Omegarfield sprite) that they completely fall flat.
Jon shooting himself is brilliant, and it leads to a brilliant conclusion.
Overall, I'm giving this video a low 8/10. It's pretty dang heckin' great, but not amazingly incredibly horrifyingly awesome.

Seriously, the atmosphere is spot on. It’s very disturbing. The sprite work is fantastic, and the dialogue is well written. This is awesome! It’s like a real life Creepypasta. I would put this on a physical cart and tell someone it’s a real Garfield game.

This level was toooough, but I learned the strats.
Throughout the game there are times where you can find Garfield preparing the lasagna, and he'll list off ingredients. If you can find each instance, at the last one, he'll mention the one thing he cannot stand in a lasagna, it's hot sauce. If you can save up a lot of money (I think it was like 200 or 300), you can get a secret option of "Help Garfield", at which point he'll eat it and burp fire. You'll enter battle with him already in his 2nd form, which is a plus as you have a smaller health pool. Keep dodging every time he mentions how hungry he is, that'll throw him off balance allowing for a guaranteed critical hit.
This is AMAZING! The overworked sprites were really good, the dialogue was so creepy and well written! The "bullets won't work, Jon" was really creepy! Definitely earned a subscriber!
I was legit more unnerved by this than the original Giygas fight 😂

I’m glad I wasn’t watching this at night. The eerie visuals I could handle, but the background music during the battle sequences made me feel anxious; didn’t expect that in broad daylight.
