Great vids. I am just starting a swap into my '88. I have a complete '02 tahoe that I plan on using the L59, 4L60 and the posi 3.73 disk brake rearend. I hope I can use the harness from the '02 to make things easier

I am in the final stages of wiring ty so much for the great videos I've watched a few times! And ur parts list was on point! I did end up doing alot more upgrades then I planned which is why I'm not done yet 2 months later lol. I also deleted neutral safety switch cause I have a 93 I have one built in the sterlering column so that worked out cause I have shifter bars vs cable. Again ty!

good detailed well explained video.. to be honest its not worth the drama,, the old 350,s can get 300hp easy and parts are cheaper now than ever before. i would have cleaned everything before putting it in,,, $25 worth of degreaser and a pressure wash and bobs your uncle/ or aunty these days. steve in Australia.

@ i wasn’t hearing the in the tank fuel pump kick on so i changed it to a inline and i hear it come on but no start i have been trouble shooting it for the past 2 days no results
Bought a step side 90’s short bed and planning on doing the swap pretty soon, I’m only confused on the wiring which seems like the hardest part of the whole swap, do you have an instagram or something to answer questions? that I don't know brother because they were different years and the 95 model has a few things ONLY the 95 had, I did not wanna risk trying to find out if I needed spacers or a certain flexplate it was just alot easier to put everything my LS came with.

@mikeromero2776 yes the red one will go to your new harness that is labeled ignition (should be red also) and the white will go to your white one from your new harness as well brother
🤝You give me the confidence to do my swap in my 1996 gmc … But one question what happens with the ECU from the 5.3 engine ? I need to reprogram because they come whit the antithef sistem ?
glad to hear that brother! and I left mine plugged in cuz I didn't wanna risk the chance of something not working right but I heard u can remove it if you do do it once you know it's running and you only have to program the LS computer (remove the vats for it to run)
Nice job and to the point did you have to do any cutting and all that splitting and connecting to your stock harnesses or just plug in those few plugs and grounds that you displayed in your installation videos

Hey bro awesome video you should give your self a pat on the back cause you did a hel of a job and explained everything perfectly!!! I am doing a swap.at the moment on a 94 wheel drive obs. I do.have 1 question for you if you might remember and you talked about it in this video right at the end but you didn't happen to say exactly what you had to do on hp tuners to make it read right.... And thats the rpm gauge. Do you happen to remember what you had to do in hp tuners to make it right by chance? Im not very good with HP but i do have it and could probably do it if you possibly remember the process you did to make it right. But if not no big deal man as i will try to figure it out. But again awesome videos bro and thanks for doing it and doing a great job!!!!

I wanna say yes to keeping the orginal ECU in my case cuz I was still using some wires from it to work with my LS and I just trimmed the orginal harness, keeping only the things I needed brother and glad the video helped you 🙂👍!

Well I'm kept mine in there because I did not wanna risk something not working but I heard you don't need to keep the orginal ECU connected but u do for sure need to use a LS ECU for the LS Engine

@sergiocisneros9929 thanks brother and I removed the fitting that came with the new LS pan and I put the one that came from my orginal LS pan for I can just continue buying the same oil filter for 2003 Tahoe
Nice build. What alternator did you upgrade to. Im currently havin same issue with fans. Volts when charging are under 13 volts. Also have a link for plug wires you are using.

with Standalone I did nothing with regarding the fuel pump brother I only messed with the stock fuse box from the truck I just needed a wire that has power when the key is on to power the relay from here on (I did not run power straight to the fuel pump, just the relay)

Hey! I jumped the Fuel pump at the fuse box like you showed and it works. Except now when I turn my headlights on it shuts the fuel pump off....? Any ideas?

So for the fuel pump did you just run a jumper wire from Pink to the green wire? Also the wires from the original engine did you cut them off and tuck them back in the original harness?
@@SUPSGARAGE I heard some guys say that you have to splice the Ls and factory range plugs together to control engine rpm when going into gear. Did you have any issues like that?
@@SUPSGARAGE what about the two plugs that are on passenger side of trans? I believe one is the lockup switch white 4 prong and black two prong. Just cut those out?

i have everything connected but i don’t have my normal pcm and my amazon ls harness doesn’t come with neutral safety switch wires for my 1995 4l60e how or what do i do to wire the neutral safety into my harness ? I seen you plugged urs in but i didnt see u wire it in the ls harness are you just using the stock harness connected to the pcm for tht with no splicing into the ls amazon harness?

@boofboikarti3235 oh I see what you mean not that I know of brother I don't think you need the old pcm but you would need at least the old wiring to connect to the neutral switch to tell the dash what gear your on
Probably a stupid question but does this tutorial apply to a ‘93 also? I know “OBS” is 88-98 but what I don’t know is if there’s any major differences in them as the years went on for the LS swap.
I have a nv 4500 in a 06 yukon with a 5.3 from a 2002 and i had to do all of this and more nothing is the same everything chages from 94 to 96 to 2000 to 04. Everything lights ,wipers,seats,door panels,dash ,foot pedals,back window,abs brakes , steering wheel, mirrors ,cpu ,gauges ,carpet wire harness ac condenser,heater core fuel pump ,gas gauge is backwards full is empty 😅

i’m thinking about LS swapping my 1990 c1500. i have a 2002 suburban as my donor and i was wondering about the PCM, i’ve heard everywhere else that you have to tune it but unless i missed it i don’t remember you mentioning that. is it not necessary? thanks in advance
@Eli_Sellars you do have to delete the vats, egr, rear 02 sensors, set your rpms correctly, etc so yes it's best to buy computer already tuned or your gonna have to get yours tuned anyway
Mine was already tuned ready when I bought the engine and transmission but I did end up buying the software (hp tuners) to change things I wanted later

@ss454gm I say go for it brother once it's all done u won't regret it and the alternator I bought from Summit. And I believe I bought the one with the most power because the stock alternator that came with the LS could not handle all the electric stuff on my truck

@emtfire20 Glad they help you brother and I only replaced the fuel lines from the intake to the fuel filter. You can replace them to the sending unit with the same lines but I didn't see it was necessary
How did you get the spedometer to work ??? You said you did not use the speedometer wire on video (1) .. but in this videos the speedometer is working ?.?.. did you end up Using the wire? If so to what wire on the obs .. tia!
I spliced the 2 speed sensor wires from my LS harness into my 2 wires from my orginal speed sensor harness to get the signal readings to go to my gauge as well does that make sense?

thanks brother! Mine was a V8 but for urs, you just need to replace your V6 clam shells to V8 clam shells (the motor mounts) and you should be good

it came with the truck brother and its been on there since the 90's so I wouldn't know where to get it from lol

glad to hear that brother! and I left mine plugged in cuz I didn't wanna risk the chance of something not working right but I heard u can remove it if you do do it once you know it's running and you only have to program the LS computer (remove the vats for it to run)
Nice job and to the point did you have to do any cutting and all that splitting and connecting to your stock harnesses or just plug in those few plugs and grounds that you displayed in your installation videos

I do.have 1 question for you if you might remember and you talked about it in this video right at the end but you didn't happen to say exactly what you had to do on hp tuners to make it read right.... And thats the rpm gauge. Do you happen to remember what you had to do in hp tuners to make it right by chance? Im not very good with HP but i do have it and could probably do it if you possibly remember the process you did to make it right. But if not no big deal man as i will try to figure it out. I wanna say yes to keeping the orginal ECU in my case cuz I was still using some wires from it to work with my LS and I just trimmed the orginal harness, keeping only the things I needed brother and glad the video helped you 🙂👍!

Well I'm kept mine in there because I did not wanna risk something not working but I heard you don't need to keep the orginal ECU connected but u do for sure need to use a LS ECU for the LS Engine

You’ll have to get flexplate with an adapter that come with it

85 is the one I connected to the green wire that comes from the LS harness brother

Nice build. What alternator did you upgrade to. Im currently havin same issue with fans. Volts when charging are under 13 volts. Also have a link for plug wires you are using.

Hey there, about the fuel pump wire off the stand alone harness which pin on the fuel relay off the fuse block did you tap in to after all
with Standalone I did nothing with regarding the fuel pump brother I only messed with the stock fuse box from the truck I just needed a wire that has power when the key is on to power the relay from here on (I did not run power straight to the fuel pump, just the relay)

I jumped the Fuel pump at the fuse box like you showed and it works. Except now when I turn my headlights on it shuts the fuel pump off....? Any ideas?

My truck is an 88! It all will work the same as long as you got adapters with the correct sensors

@@SUPSGARAGE I heard some guys say that you have to splice the Ls and factory range plugs together to control engine rpm when going into gear. Did you have any issues like that?
no I didn't have to do that only thing I did spliced down there was the orginal speed sensor wires to the LS harness

@boofboikarti3235 oh I see what you mean not that I know of brother I don't think you need the old pcm but you would need at least the old wiring to connect to the neutral switch to tell the dash what gear your on

Probably a stupid question but does this tutorial apply to a ‘93 also? I know “OBS” is 88-98 but what I don’t know is if there’s any major differences in them as the years went on for the LS swap.
yes there will but some differences brother like that transmission cable and some of the wires but it should not be by much
I have a nv 4500 in a 06 yukon with a 5.3 from a 2002 and i had to do all of this and more nothing is the same everything chages from 94 to 96 to 2000 to 04. Everything lights ,wipers,seats,door panels,dash ,foot pedals,back window,abs brakes , steering wheel, mirrors ,cpu ,gauges ,carpet wire harness ac condenser,heater core fuel pump ,gas gauge is backwards full is empty 😅

i’m thinking about LS swapping my 1990 c1500. i have a 2002 suburban as my donor and i was wondering about the PCM, i’ve heard everywhere else that you have to tune it but unless i missed it i don’t remember you mentioning that. is it not necessary? thanks in advance
@Eli_Sellars you do have to delete the vats, egr, rear 02 sensors, set your rpms correctly, etc so yes it's best to buy computer already tuned or your gonna have to get yours tuned anyway

Mine was already tuned ready when I bought the engine and transmission but I did end up buying the software (hp tuners) to change things I wanted later
you can buy them tuned ready from ebay but just make sure you buy the correct pcm for your engine

@ss454gm I say go for it brother once it's all done u won't regret it and the alternator I bought from Summit. And I believe I bought the one with the most power because the stock alternator that came with the LS could not handle all the electric stuff on my truck

@emtfire20 Glad they help you brother and I only replaced the fuel lines from the intake to the fuel filter. You can replace them to the sending unit with the same lines but I didn't see it was necessary
One more question I’m running an aftermarket intake with 102mm throttle. Do I need a fuel pressure regulator? And do you know how the fuel rail is ran

I spliced the 2 speed sensor wires from my LS harness into my 2 wires from my orginal speed sensor harness to get the signal readings to go to my gauge as well does that make sense?
