- Lots going on at the construction of my dream casa! This week we're insulating the floor, preparing electricity and water and pouring the screed, yay! Luckily not alone in this, I have help from mason Ismael, my brother Ferdinand and ever so helpful Paul. So proud of the teamwork!

Hi Maya, first of all, thanxs for a wonderful video each week, we absolutely love it. My husband is a qualified electrician in Switzerland, and his very worried about your electricity.
In Portugal they put the wires in the floor because de walls are made of granite stones
Yes , my husband is Portuguese, he did his electricity course in Portugal. In the floor is not the problem, the problem is that they were joining and splitting the piping. That is not even allowed in Switzerland🙂
I love watching you Maya as you actually want to do the nitty gritty hard work. Having help everyone has somewhere along the way, but your willingness to learn new trades is so admirable.
I was told that you have to watch at least 30 seconds of the adverts for Maya to benefit financially, so thats what I do.

A little advice when doing wiring always leave more wire that's coming out of the walls where your junction and switch and outlets are going to be. Just in case you make a mistake or need more wire . You can always put the extra wire in the junction box or the switch box. It's makes it easier to connect the wires and you will have extra wire if you need it in the future. Never pull wire against concrete or hard surfaces without protecting the wire from damaging the insulation on your wires.
The first day of spring is Mar 19th, you're a little early on your spring dip in the stream, but nicer there than the snow here! Nice progress on project.
This looks amazing, but I worry that the structure might not be able to hand that amount of weight. Did you have a professional look at the beams below?
I was thinking the same thing. That amount of concrete is a lot of weight.
You should try damming the river to make a swimming pool once the level drops?

For future reference...squirter a liberal dose of dish soap liquid on the wire and slather it up and down the wire. It will act as a lubricant and wire slides along easily. Doesn't harm anything.

Great job looking fab , I would possibly have run the cables in the room below and hidden them behind a ceiling , also I'm sure then there would be a much thinner screed , also I maybe wrong but self levelling screed/floor is available or even a very wet mix could self level correct me if I'm wrong. Loved the swimming have a great week x

Congratulations and good luck with your project! But maybe you should do a stability study before putting that many pounds of unreinforced concrete on an old floor. I don't know if Portugal has a problem with earthquakes, but if I were you, I'd be worried.

think i would had added floor heating before filling it with concrete
and if not mistaken there is a room under the flooor so should have been metal grid layed before cement,grid or no grid,in Denmark its not allowed make it on first floor like you did,

Such good work, Maya. The space is looking so beautiful. Please put a very pale wood (or pale tile or pale concrete finish, if you’re doing that) floor in to keep the room as light as possible.
I'm concerned though, won't the foam insulation be crushed by the weight of the concrete since the concrete is not touching the original floor. Wont it crack and eventually sink in the middle of the room?

Beautiful work as always, it's looking amazing. Wouldn't it be better if the floor didn't touch the walls so as not to transfer the temperature to the walls and lose heat on cold days? (speaking from what I saw on videos on TH-cam, I'm not a professional on the subject)
