Last year heard on the radio how in the early part of the 20th century there were as many women Big Bands as there were mens', and just as good. They have been swept away, forgotten until people believe there were only male Big Bands. The very sad thing is, girl bands from the 50's 60's 70's even 80's have been treated in the same way. Never heard any of these girl bands on the radio when growing up in the 70's and a wide range used to be played. Thanks to all the uploaders of these girl bands.
Minka S. K. I think it's the production they also was signed up to.The production companies they had a deal weren't recognizable in a national level, but only limited states. And their management didn't give them gigs for bigger audiences.Garage Rock overall last 1960s even for male musician wasn't mainstream or at least, remembered mainstream.
The women's big bands were seen as a wartime phenomenon, replacements for the men who had gone off to fight, even though they had been established well beforehand. If you want to read more on the subject, I would recommend Sherrie Tucker's book called Swing Shift. Yes, unfortunately all-girl bands have historically been treated as novelties over the decades.
I had the misfortune of living in Fulda, MN for 6 years, but I think I might have bought the bass player's amp! It was a Kustom 250 from the 60's with the cool cushion covering. I can't imagine there would have been much vintage rock gear sitting around in a town that small. Who knows!
@@AvonBarksdale024 Wow, Based on the size of that town. with two people from Fulda in the same post it must be a record for largest percentage of a town commenting on one post. (and you are likely related some how..... And I mean that with great respect as a Minnesota boy also)
@sideline5519 most of my close family is from up by Minneapolis. I got some distant family in Fulda though. We very well could be related lol the chances that I've met them are very very high as well lol
@@AvonBarksdale024 Holy Crap, Some one from Fulda. I'm a Minnesota boy also. But a filthy suburbanite.... But I went to college up the road from you a ways in Mankato.
Oh wow. I had a garage rock comp on vinyl in the early 2000s. This is the only song I liked and remember! It’s been ages since I’ve heard this song and thought it was forever gone.
@smokeemonkee i know - a year! if i knew how to upload i'd do it, since i've got a copy thanks to the "arf arf" compilation. maybe it's time to learn. you're lucky to have a 45 copy of it. ;)
Pretty good driving beat for a talented group of very pretty young women, and kind of unique compelling harmony sound to complement that instrument back up. Quietly interesting and attractive sound....
Raw garage riffs mix very well with haunting girl group vocals

heck yea, there's a book there somewhere on the girl groups & the music industry- - -
@@allizappamcminn4376 gotta give props to Motown Records at least being a good vehicle to promote 'some' of the girl groups-

These gals were pioneers of girl rock; I love 'em
Oh this is good!!!! Total pioneers. ❤
Just found this band started out only fifteen minutes away from where I live. That's pretty cool.

I lived in the San Fernando Valley in 1961-66 and this is what garage bands sounded like.
These pretty girls are just real cool with this driving neat beat. Cool smooth vocals, too. Pretty good harmony, kind of captivating...
Good song. I like this all girl group.
Go-Go's must have listened to this !
ditto! These girls rock! And they make me look like they could host a killer pajama slumber party!
Proper good sound! Luv the vocals!
Sounds very GO-GOs ish.
Great song
Great song, a little haunting and from a band I never heard of until now. Want to hear it again.
Never heard of this talented group until you uploaded. Thanks to you, I get to hear this group for the very first time!
They're from my hometown. Fulda, MN!

Great! Heard this song a long time ago. Very glad it's on here for many to enjoy.
These gals are adorable, and decent musicians; brings back a lot of memories.
I fancy the bassist - she exudes confidence in this photo. Great Garage!
Is this band still playing gigs and touring now Anyone know? This is a cool song.
Oh, hell yeah! These girls rock!
Thanks for posting this!

This song is very good.

Expressive and fresh faces, no tattoos in two words: wonderful girls. I adore them. Many greetings from the far away Cologne, West Germany.
Brilliant song and check out those flares! Outstanding!
There's an additional member shown on keyboards, in addition to the four listed in the description.
Maybe she did not play in this track.
You gotta live these Ladies harmonies.
What a great song🤘
Remember them playing at South Dakota State c 1966. Think they made the SD Rock HOF. Great SW Minne band.
This single appears to be available on itunes now.
One of the gal's mother while watching over the group on tour got one in the oven!
Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh
The joy of nostalgia
nice track
That would be cool if a lot of these bands got back together and toured. People want good tunes again.
Bad grammar always sounds better in a song, and this one is no exception. Great harmony too.
Exactly Mr. Mooney!

NICE, thnx everybody :)
most groups aren't this adept at instrumental arranging; the layering and part-writing.
sweet
It's pity that you can't buy these Garage records in Germany.
But Germany has some of the best garage-revival groups in the world
That's true Bill but I'm searching for the original vinyl singles.
