Nothing like a John video to get me motivated to tackle the spring chores!
‘We have the bamboo on the run’-I love that!!! 😂😂😂
Can you share a picture of John when he was a young gardener? I'm sure his many fans would like to see it! : )
Life makes sense again now that John has another video out!! Yay!
Met you today John thanks for helping us choose raspberry and gooseberry bushes
John The Germans forgot to tell you that pruning shears sharpen with a wet stone. They learned this method from the Poles, but they probably didn't remember everything. I'm writing this as the Pole with German, French and Czech roots, so I don't mean anything bad. Just wet stone with water and the effects will be spectacular. Best regards.
Such a good teacher. Thank you, John. Love your approach.
Thanks for the demo on felco sharpening. I love your informative non precious style of gardening.
Arrrgh! Blasted ivy to hell! It's like a bad rash you can't get rid of! Supreme effort John. Thanks for the motivation.
Motivated to follow my roots to Ireland thanks to John and his gardening show. Happy St Pats Day ☘️
I’m all for that trick of the trade you can’t mention. Spot on and works! I use a small amount (of something) with a brush in a very timely manner, right on the cut. To me, it’s highly proper. Protect yourself and it’s no harm no foul.
Pick Mattock was the best thing I ever purchased 😄
What is it about pruning and kicking the branches that is so gratifying?? Love it
I love this video, John you garden just like me, so full of enthusiasm.
Probably if the ash tree suckers are removed more often the tree will eventually die. Also, I was told that if you pull them off when young (easier) then the wound is different and it will take much longer to resprout.
Often instead of raking an area I’ll just toss enough wood chips on top (but not if the prunings can root!)
I LOVE every video you ever made, this one included! 💚 Best wishes for a fantastic growing season and beyond.
Thank you for reposting this with the sound that was missing before.
Red twigs would be gorgeous in a vase.
Ash trees are late to leaf, key everywhere and randomly shed limbs! Don’t get me started on ivy 😂
Great video as always, look forward to seeing the garden bloom.
Love your videos John!
We just love your garden we are gardeners as well we have just found your channel and think your wonderful the way you remember all the names. We have plenty to keep us going glad your back though. All the best.🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🏅🏅🍀🍀🍀🍀
I love a newly edged garden bed! Can't wait til the snow goes away so I can start!
Keep up the good work John always look forward to your garden videos 😊
Have you ever done a video on the mosses that grow around the garden? Spotted some in the background of the video and would love to see more what involuntarily grows around your place. 😊
Hi John ...you're a star ! 🌿💚
Missed you there man. glad to see you're back.
Love watching you and your explanations but had to laugh at the “Ash” I have loads of these here in Germany & always resort to what you did👍🏻 Please keep up the great videos.
Hi John, Really very nice to see you , the only thing coming up here are daffodils and crocus here in the hills of Pennsylvania.
you guys should make t-shirts with John walking away with the pickaxe saying "we might leave it" 24:06
Loved the comment about not having to prune roses. I am running an experiment with some I moved last year to see how they develop when not pruned as they are in a spot where they will not bother anybody.
Neat sidetrack bamboo runner digout. Almost makes me glad it is too cold for bamboo in my climate, as we are most envious of plants we cannot grow. And all of us have that evil gardener angel on our shoulder whispering woes to certain plants to simply give you a more easier time of it.
A real gardener. Why I will never plant bamboo
Knowledgeable video John thank you,got a few jobs to catch up now I have seen it ,When is the best time to cut back hydrangeas I’m in highlands Scotland.
John I really needed this info for my own channel my friend. Damien from Cork🙏
Thanks for the tips
Do you trim painted fern in the same manner? I have done my maiden and lady ferns just last weekend
Dig up the fern and the ash tree and divide the fern and replant or sell it!
Do you have a lot of Ivy in Ireland? I don't think I've ever seen it grow wild or especially in my garden here in New England USA
Yes, it’s absolutely everywhere here 😂
How do you get rid of Italian arum? I’m losing the battle!
The ivy😂 for us it’s dollar weed. You never get rid of it. I think your ivy is pretty.
legend ☺
I do wonder sometimes if a tiny dab of herbicide isn't more effective and less destructive than digging up entire plots to exterminate invasive species. I'll admit I prefer stump painting to root removal. Keeps the soil structure intact.
If you plant bamboo, you will be fighting it all the days of your life.
Now that is heavy duty gardening chopping out invasive plants with a pick axe!!
Nature wants a forest of ash trees covered in ivy and absolutely no variegated Japanese plants. John's win is always temporary.
Yeaaaah...save the planet
Only plant clumping bamboo not running bamboo. Too scary!
Athe emerald ash borer took all of our ash trees in USA. You don’t want that!
Love your videos but John, John, calm yourself down man! You're gonna have a heart attack bobbing about like a whirling dervish!
That's like telling the birds not to sing, lol
