Yokouchi Residence, designed by Kidosaki Architects Studio, is a tranquil retreat located in the lush forests of Minamigaoka, Karuizawa, Japan. The house blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings by keeping its roofline below the treetops, ensuring harmony with the environment. Built for a busy doctor and his wife, the home offers a serene escape, featuring spacious, light-filled interiors that connect effortlessly with the outdoors. Key architectural elements include deep eaves that create transitional spaces, frame picturesque views, and add a floating, elegant feel to the roof. The design emphasizes accessibility with barrier-free rooms and incorporates durable natural materials like oak flooring and Selangan Batu wood, achieving a minimalist yet warm aesthetic. Every detail reflects a delicate balance between functionality and beauty, making it a perfect sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation.
