I did the Fractal Terra build with the 9800X3D. CPU a bit steamy in Cinebench multicore and throttling. However, with undervolting it can reach its full potential. I could do -35 and get temps not exceeding 85 celcius with a thermalright AXP120-X67. Also managed to squeeze a fan underneath the PSU (SFX PSU 1000w) with a fan protector as intake. This reduced the GPU temps. However, the GPU (4070 ti) still gets hot which sucks. Around 80 celcius. Maybe I should repaste, but thinking to send it RMA and let the supplier do it so not loosing warrenty. Anyone else had bad GPU thermals or it my thermal paste on the GPU just shit?
I'm thinking about building a distribution similar to yours. With the 4080 proart, the fractal terra, but with the NH L12Sx77, (it is a 7mm higher version of the NH L12S). I would like to know if it would fit in the case, since it cannot be seen in the images.
I just built a very similar PC in that same black Terra case. I looove it! It's for the living room and doesn't look out of place. I also did the same thing by getting an extra fan for the bottom and then realizing I needed that space for the cables. I'm 3 weeks in and airflow and heat hasn't been a problem which I was concerned about not fitting in that extra fan.
I was expecting temperatures to be poor, but I'd say definitely acceptable! Just love the design. Fractal are doing the business these days My GF got jealous so now wants me to make one for her, so I'll see if a slim fan will fit with a more sensible PSU Thanks for stopping by 🤘
@@thecomputersurgeon I never even thought about airflow, I just thought it looked hideous and defeated the purpose of an SFF case. No elevation from what I've seen. I guess they feel the feet on the Terra is just enough?
I agree, I find pump noise really annoying so a high quality fan on the cooler is all I need. Set 82c temp limit, and I'm cool with losing a few % performance for the lowest noise
That ITX PC looks really fancy. I like that how that Fractal Tera case looks. If and when I do my own ITX PC, I'll definitely take this case into consideration.
1000w seems overkill. 700w will do for sure. Totally worth it with the fan on the bottom. Also order low profile PSU cable and order a custom part on stay to be able to add another fan above PSU.
@thecomputersurgeon apologies I probably missed it. Otherwise, great video! I enjoyed putting this build together myself as well. 2nd build I've done in 7 years 🤘 SUBBED
It a beautiful box but it is also a hotter than hades without proper cooling, put a range hood on top if you value your hardwear or use it as decoration. I like it too but whew Fractals new era is tops.
Yeah it is very expensive. That's the downside of ITX. It appeals to a smaller market and requires more R+D. If ITX was mainstream I think it would be a different story, but for now the value play is mATX/ATX
Temps, spec and undervolt in the description 👆

almost all terra builds use a slim fan for exhaust on the bottom of the sfx psu. a sfx-l with the cables+a normal fan gives you no room
nice build
I think even a slim fan wouldn't fit tbh, maybe because it's a 1000w unit? Not 100% sure
@@thecomputersurgeon yours is sfx-l so sfx large basically :) I have a sf850 from corsair and the slim fan fits under no problem.
Yea having just moved to this case, I have an Arctic 120mm slim fan at the bottom. Just a regular SFX psu will fit
I wish the fractal ridge performed as well as this in the horizontal orientation, much prefer the ridge, great video.
I also love the Ridge!!
It would cool to have one with a wooden theme because the hardware compatibility rocks, and it's very space efficient
I've often seen the bottom fan installed on the OUTSIDE of the Terra, so I imagine other folks must have run into the same problem as you.
Interesting - you'd have to elevate the case a bit though right? As the fan wouldn't have much room for airflow
@@thecomputersurgeon I never even thought about airflow, I just thought it looked hideous and defeated the purpose of an SFF case. No elevation from what I've seen. I guess they feel the feet on the Terra is just enough?
I guess so, but I agree it takes away from the "sleekness" of this case
That is so cool, there is zero reason to have a full sized tower anymore with the elimination of CD and traditional hard drives
I'm loving the SFF life tbh. Only downside is the cost and *maybe* the cooling - but that would only be for the very top end stuff
@@thecomputersurgeonYeah I would probably skip the liquid cooling and just let it run hot to keep the cost down a bit

I just migrated from an NR200 to this case a few days ago. Have no regrets!
how was the temp?
It will remain a mystery to me why you unscrewed the side panel)
Haha me too! I felt so dumb after 😅
great video! i got this case, but to go with the ryzen 9 9950x and a RTX 4070 Ti Super. I hope this doesnt get too crazy hot!

Dope video. Music is dope. Build is dope.
You have a SFX-L power supply and is too tall, you can only fit a fan with the SFX.
Correct
@@thecomputersurgeon I have the same case, bought it at launch. Great case that I still am really enjoying.
Yeah man! I really love it, mainly for the looks and size. Of course will never have the cooling etc of a larger case, but that's cool with me 🤘
Came for the build. Replayed for the music. :D
Streambeats hits hard!!
1000w seems overkill. 700w will do for sure. Totally worth it with the fan on the bottom. Also order low profile PSU cable and order a custom part on stay to be able to add another fan above PSU.
Agreed - I did address this in the video

All good brother, tis a long video. But if you didn't see it, lots of others are probably the same so it's good to have the info in the comments 👍
It a beautiful box but it is also a hotter than hades without proper cooling, put a range hood on top if you value your hardwear or use it as decoration. I like it too but whew Fractals new era is tops.
It's all within spec so I'm not worried
And the new Era does look sweet as 👌
isn't it basically an open case?
I wouldn't say so. It's got metal all around it
Looks nice, but personally, i dont mind a bigger case. Rather have decent hw and cooling, but if it has the same perf, then i would also get it. :).
It's very close to the same performance, but you'll get better value for money with a larger case (paradoxically) :)
Not much of a surgeon if you're in there bangin everything around, but good looking build tho.
Google tibial nail removal then come back to me
love sff but its pricey
Absolutely true
okay there is 7800x3d that can reach 4850 mhz but not on this cooler XD
Mine gets between 4750 and 5050 fairly regularly
Looks great but far far too expensive, should be like £70 - £80 for me personally but I understand you are paying that ITX premium.
ITX tax exist because the market is niche.
