People think its was about money and oil. It wasn't its truly about protecting international trade in international waters. Why the original operation started to protect oil tankers. Once Iran hit one of our boats with a mine it goes from protecting to as we say "Iran F'ing Around", then turned into direct combat retaliation for the mining of our boat which is the "Found Out" consequences. Iran till this day still hasn't learned

USS O'Bannon is my favorite video by The Fat Electrician, but they're all good.
I like this one so much that whenever someone does a reaction vid to it I have to watch, I love seeing people enjoy a well told story.

It's all true, I was there on the USS Bagley which was part of SAG "C"..
The title of the original video should have been "The day the Iranian government, forced so many of their sailors to suicide."
Can't believe that strategy (ordering sailors/troops) to suicide when given an out etc (not in a war) is not a war crime in itself.
Iran had so many chances to stand down. Had they just accepted they lose 2-3 nonfunctioning oil rigs, then nobody would have had validation to go after more. Especially as nobody was going after the lives if their sailors. Once Iran testosterone tantrumed and played stupid about the mines ordering their sailors to suicide? US had to take out or completely disable their modern frigates or else Iran would have used them to attack more civillian vessels....
Iran 100% self sabotaged out of false pride and 100% treated their sailors as disposible.
I was there during Operation praying mantis we almost had a silkworm missile missed us and hit the third oil platform
Iran once again confirming friendly fire, isn't.

@@Amandaarford83 not only that but our museum ships would be an upgrade to 80% of the worlds navys.. if you heard only the numbers n koreas navy sounds impressive until you find out their entire fleet is from the 1960s and most of their ships are smaller than our average coast guard vessel which incidentally is the 12th largest naval fleet by itself
