Caltrain’s EMU sets, built by Stadler Rail, left the Salt Lake City facility on Friday, August 19th. They are being delivered to Caltrain to replace their current fleet. I was able to catch up to the delivery train on Saturday, August 20th. The first location was taken in Benecia, followed by Berkeley.

For anyone who's curious, the scientific name for the emu is _Dromaius novaehollandiae,_ and it is the second-tallest living bird after its ratite relative the ostrich.

@@oaksub510 I saw the first one (the one with both sets of doors) in person at the TTC while I was there for an unrelated project. I'm a big fan of KISS units from my time in Switzerland and I can't wait for service to start in the Bay Area. I love the classic F40s as much as the next railfan, but I think Caltrain riders are due for a much-needed 21st century update in comfort and ride quality.

Excellent video and I can see a version for them suited for the Electrified commuter rail in the Northeastern United States because some of them have low level platforms level platforms that require passengers who are using Strollers and wheelchairs to use the nearest station that has a high level platform Because stations that have no level platforms cannot board them. Therefore 2nd door is used to board them then the interior lift is used to bring those to high level platform doors seen at New York and Newark Penn stations 30th street Philadelphia. Examples are SEPTA Doylestown NJ Transit Short Hills South Orange Hoboken division Morris and Essex lines Newark Division lines Little Silver and Jersey Avenue.
