79 xs400 Yamaha. Remove timing chain.

Please like. This was my ramble about removing the timing chasing and the alternator cover on an xs400 motor. I am not a mechanic I just love working on motors. So take advice with a grain of salt.

That is a stator, not an alternator! But congrats on your home repair.

I war trying to remove my cover but something right bottom, the rid that the gear "lever" sits on has som cables orevents me from it. I don't know why, any ideas?

did you finish the work on the engine? does the bike run well?

I did finish the engine, and it ran beautifully, unfortunately I had to sell the bike when I moved.
