Love your garden. Do you do succession planting for kale, spinach, and broccoli?

Thanks John, yes that's exactly why we're sowing up seeds and seedlings before we have the bed space - succession planning in action. Although we're not necessarily succession sowing kale, spinach and broccoli - as we tend not to grow those things over summer. One autumn/winter sowing is enough to last us most of the year. We succession sow all sorts of vegetables to ensure we never have any empty bed space! 💚

Do you have any problems with blackbirds? They scratch all my soil and rip out plants, peck tomatoes and make a general mess 🙄

Hi Lisa fortunately we don't anymore. In the early days we did and it was very frustrating - I feel your pain! I attended a workshop on how to encourage more small birds to your garden and deter the bigger birds, and the advice they gave that stuck with me was to plant densely. Larger birds like indian mynars and blackbirds like open spaces. Our foodforest is so densely planted now we don't have many open areas, and I have definitely noticed a reduction in the number of larger pest species of birds. In the meantime, it might help to net your garden beds - even using a mesh wire or mesh bin over the seedlings you're trying to protect might help 💚

Hi Michael thank you, glad you enjoy our tutorials! I recommend you watch our Vegepod video. There I detail all our struggles with eggplant and how we have finally learnt how to grow eggplant properly :) th-cam.com/video/l2xrrCh5dmA/w-d-xo.html. Assuming you have the right variety of eggplants that do grow big, then yes we have lots of tips in that video for you 💚
