    I love this video. Makes me tear up every time. I was blessed to have met Mario when I was 10 years old. My parents took me to Pittsburgh for the final 2 regular season games at the Mellon Arena. At the end of the week, we were waiting for the bus to take us to the airport and the bellhop said “Mario Lemieux is in the restaurant right through that doorway if you want to get a picture with him.” I’ll never forget him stopping a meeting with GM Ray Shero to meet my family and take a picture with me

      Glad to hear that I am not the only one who gets a little emotional (in a good way) to this commercial lol.
      Also, that is such a cool story and I appreciate you sharing it. My grandmother briefly dated Pat Stapleton (Rest in Peace) around 93-94 and he asked his son Mike to grab a stick for my mom, who was/is a huge Lemieux fan (I am even named after him 😁) Ever the gentleman, he made sure to sign it, and it is very well-worn and covered in marks, which thrills me to know that at least one of Mario Lemieux’s points was likely scored with this stick.
      Anyways... if you still have that picture with the Magnificent One, I’d really love to see it!

    • @chizorama
      @chizorama ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Especially the playoffs, they were absolutely brutal, the game a lot more personality back then, & players had a lot more character, both seem more robotic these days. I'm not crapping on modern hockey, it is faster & more skilled, but it doesn't seem to have the ambience that made that era so special.

    • @NoahBodze
      @NoahBodze ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The mid-90s was rough to watch and Lemieux eventually quit because of it.
      They didn’t let the skill come out - teams just got stacked with talentless, clutch-and-grab goons who would hack these players and take them down. Pathetic.
      I stopped watching around that time.

      @@Dueville7777 I do, too. When the panthers bounced the Pens in 94, I think it was, was when you could see Mario essentially quit on hockey. He played longer, of course, but it was then that he started to consider a white flight, as it were, from the unpunished crimes of the game he grew up playing. It was just so goonish, and he didn’t want to put up with it anymore. I don’t blame him.

    WE WANT BOSSY
    WE WANT BOSSY
    Bossy is the NHL's all-time leader in average goals scored per regular season game, holds the NHL's third-highest all-time average points scored per regular season game, and is the second of five players to score 50 goals in 50 games, being the first to accomplish this feat 36 years after Maurice Richard did so. He tied for the record for most 50-goal seasons with Wayne Gretzky and Alexander Ovechkin with nine, though his were consecutive as opposed to Gretzky's and Ovechkin's being non-consecutive; he thus is the sole record-holder for most consecutive 50-goal seasons.
