I had a friend kill himself at 20 years old. He was the best guy you could ever meet and would put a smile on your face bigger than you knew was possible.
Wasn’t a veteran though but still need suicide awareness.
    Miss him a lot…

I’m so sorry to hear that. And you’re right it’s an issue across the board with more people than just veterans. We need to do a better job as a people to take care of people that are hurting inside.

Looks like it was a great time, man! I wish that I could've tagged along. I haven't been aboard the Yorktown in probably 15 years!

It was a lot of fun. But we’ll do another trip like this. I’m hoping to go through Virginia next time to visit the Wisconsin

Nice video Matt and great cause. I am also a combat vet and retired mil, so i appreciate the efforts here. Most vets over the past 20 years have served in the sand box at one time or another and seen some bad stuff. Good to get them out to connect with others and enjoy a healing journey. You were close to my stomping grounds passing thru the FMNF and then the Yorktown. The Yorktown is huge and I've been on it maybe 15 times and every time I go back I get lost and find some new passageway below decks I never knew existed. Not sure what your starting point was, but I know you travelled south on Hwy 17 from MB to Mt. Pleasant. If you start near Wilmington you can offroad on the beach at Fort Fisher. Then take the 45 min or so ferry ride over across the sound toward SC. It's less than $10 for a boat ride and you can stay on your Jeep or get out and go up into the cabin/deck. We've even seen manatees once on this trip which is rare that far North. There are some state/county camping areas along the coast on the route south of MB, but reservations are recommended well in advance. You've been on the SCAR in the FMNF and not much camping/overland sites out there. Insects there go from sometimes none to thick as fleas/mosquitos/horseflies. There is a luxurious KOA in Mt. Pleasant as well. Not exactly wilderness and very close to town, but on a pretty lake surrounded by woods and friendly folks there. My preferred place to refill propane tanks. Best Regards!

Hey man! Thanks so much! Yeah unfortunately, since I missed the first day, I missed the guys starting in Willimington and taking the ferry. So you’ll have to watch there videos for that. Thanks for your service and those potential campsites! 🙏🙏🙏
