Honestly the people who say "Nowadays SCP is only power scaling" probably hasn't visited the site after 2021 considering, it's the exact same as back then. What really caused people to say this was the VS shorts which most people in the SCP Community hasn't even watched. The SCPs they mentioned in the vs shorts are actually well written(E.g SCP 3812,it isn't that bad and it's concept is pretty interesting and the execution is well done) or they're from different branches like CN or JP. Most if not all new SCPs aren't that different from the ones 7 years ago(Except for the naming conventions). So stop judging a book by it's cover and actually read the damn thing.
I agree, I love to go in and actually read or listen to the stories either through a site or over a podcast, some podcasts do the stories very well. Most SCP material are kept at pretty high standards when done through videos or games, I love to watch games like SCP SL because they show SCP’s in a mostly accurate way, save for balancing issues.

Some modern SCPs are so well done. I adore the concept of Pattern Screamers and the Scarlet King. Some others like the afterlife ones-- the "one second of eternity has passed" and the one where an 05 is brought back (along with "the call of the void" are so freaky. SCP-5999 scared the shit out of me. These are such amazing works of art, I'd hardly call them SCPs, I'd call them horror on par with any "real" book. And then yeah you have "jerry the eldeich god #788"

The sad truth, although there’s still a good few scp videos still being created. At least we didn’t go down the same route as the backrooms. The SCP wiki is still hella funny, especially the joke scps. I’m just glad the official SCP wiki has way more protection then the Backrooms, as 18+ people are only allowed, and can be filtered through.
Honestly, i like both. Call me weird or whatever but the whole scary horror is very nice. But i also watch a lot of power scaling. The newer stuf dosent ruin the older stuff. But i guess thats just me. And i know it cant be everyone's cup of tea i get it so its fine. But i have a lot of fun figuring out and learning which character is stronger than others. Call me weird, but i am just a simple guy i guess.
Okay, I know people are going to disagree here, and I have no bias, as I've been here before we had the boundless beings and currently. I kind of like the new creations. It adds a deeper sense of fear in my opinion, and makes the Foundation and other Groups of Interest even bigger heroes for being able to keep these gods capable of erasing universes at bay. I mean, the Three Moons Initiative barely lost to the Hanged King, which definitely makes it way cooler. Of course, people have their own opinions, but I personally felt the older SCPs were far too basic and followed generic concepts. With these new, more powerful entities, it adds more lore to the whole SCP universe, and it made me a lot more interested. (To be fair I care more about the GoIs than the actual SCPs themselves lol)

I find complaining about scp's that are just obscenely powerful being a recent phenomenon is dishonest. 682, 343, 106, 579, the list goes on. In the old era, there were plenty of entities and objects that were so obscenely powerful, part of the horror was their power. Scp 3812 is in all likely hood the most powerful character to ever exist, but that wasn't the point of the entry. The point of 3812 was the existential horror of becoming so powerful that reality as we know it no longer applies to you. Yes, there may be a problem with newcomers missing the point and treating the scp universe as an edgy version of marvel, but that doesn't mean that we throw the baby out with the bath water.

God this is so true. Classic SCPs were goofy objects or monsters that did a funny thing or were nightmare fuel. Now it's all esoteric stories to the thaumaturgical degree that takes a degree in literature to understand. Like seriously I swear half of these were written for an AP Lang and Comp class from the nerdiest person ever. Doesn't mean they're bad, it's just oversaturated
Honestly the people who say "Nowadays SCP is only power scaling" probably hasn't visited the site after 2021 considering, it's the exact same as back then. What really caused people to say this was the VS shorts which most people in the SCP Community hasn't even watched.
The SCPs they mentioned in the vs shorts are actually well written(E.g SCP 3812,it isn't that bad and it's concept is pretty interesting and the execution is well done) or they're from different branches like CN or JP. Most if not all new SCPs aren't that different from the ones 7 years ago(Except for the naming conventions). So stop judging a book by it's cover and actually read the damn thing.
I agree, I love to go in and actually read or listen to the stories either through a site or over a podcast, some podcasts do the stories very well. Most SCP material are kept at pretty high standards when done through videos or games, I love to watch games like SCP SL because they show SCP’s in a mostly accurate way, save for balancing issues.

The SCP Community will always be good. The only problem is how hard people are trying to make it kid-friendly. SCP is dark and contains topics like sui**de, r**e, etc. Other than that, SCP will always be a good fandom and will stay Secured, Contained, and Protected in our hearts. (I’m saying this as a fan for over 8+ years.)

Some modern SCPs are so well done. I adore the concept of Pattern Screamers and the Scarlet King. Some others like the afterlife ones-- the "one second of eternity has passed" and the one where an 05 is brought back (along with "the call of the void" are so freaky. SCP-5999 scared the shit out of me. These are such amazing works of art, I'd hardly call them SCPs, I'd call them horror on par with any "real" book.

you probably haven’t read too much if you think every other SCP is trying to be the next Scarlet King or 3999. There’s still a lot of simple skips reminiscent of Series 1 yet are usually better. They just don’t get as much attention because they’re useless to power scaler

The sad truth, although there’s still a good few scp videos still being created. At least we didn’t go down the same route as the backrooms. The SCP wiki is still hella funny, especially the joke scps. I’m just glad the official SCP wiki has way more protection then the Backrooms, as 18+ people are only allowed, and can be filtered through.
Honestly, i like both. Call me weird or whatever but the whole scary horror is very nice. But i also watch a lot of power scaling. The newer stuf dosent ruin the older stuff. Okay, I know people are going to disagree here, and I have no bias, as I've been here before we had the boundless beings and currently. I kind of like the new creations. It adds a deeper sense of fear in my opinion, and makes the Foundation and other Groups of Interest even bigger heroes for being able to keep these gods capable of erasing universes at bay. I mean, the Three Moons Initiative barely lost to the Hanged King, which definitely makes it way cooler. Of course, people have their own opinions, but I personally felt the older SCPs were far too basic and followed generic concepts. With these new, more powerful entities, it adds more lore to the whole SCP universe, and it made me a lot more interested. (To be fair I care more about the GoIs than the actual SCPs themselves lol)

I find complaining about scp's that are just obscenely powerful being a recent phenomenon is dishonest. 682, 343, 106, 579, the list goes on. In the old era, there were plenty of entities and objects that were so obscenely powerful, part of the horror was their power. Scp 3812 is in all likely hood the most powerful character to ever exist, but that wasn't the point of the entry. The point of 3812 was the existential horror of becoming so powerful that reality as we know it no longer applies to you. Yes, there may be a problem with newcomers missing the point and treating the scp universe as an edgy version of marvel, but that doesn't mean that we throw the baby out with the bath water.
