6:00 With regards to the FJ, the only thing I can think is, my buddy has a gray 2006 4Runner with similar scratching on the hood. Looks like it was scrubbed with a Brillo pad. The cause was keeping it car washed frequently in its youth, and, at the same time, keeping it constantly exposed to the elements. The roofline paint above the windshield is doing the same thing.
That Toyota paint to me just looks like paint break-down. Around 2004, I bought a 1986 Porsche 911 38k miles, garaged, original SILVER paint. The paint looked the exact same as this, appeared it had been ran through the woods, but of course not. My expert high end paint guy called the issue, paint break-down, and mentioned that it will happen mostly on silver painted cars.
I have a 70mai dashcam and I love it! I was t-boned by another driver in Seattle and my dashcam video settled the case in my favor. This new version looks even better and I'll be upgrading to it soon.
On the FJ cruiser, the reason the hood is scratched is because a lot of those cruisers have a matte black sticker, all along on the top of the hood to stop reflecting the sun, but when you try to take them off, they are really hard to take off and people end up, scratching the crap out of the hood
Hi, Brandon. I am putting this comment here because I thought you'd like to know about it and its parallels to what is going on in the car market. Did you know that six states are going to ban the sale of diesel motorhomes in 2025? They are California, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Oregon, and Washington. Several motorhome manufacturers have notified other states that they cannot meet the EV requirements for motorhome sales because the technology does not yet exist to do so. As far as sales go in the motorhome market Class A vehicles have declined year over year from September 2023 to September 2024 by 25.9% and for Class B vehicles by 28.9%. The result is that many dealership networks are selling or closing dealers with some networks actually merging. Thus you can see there is not only change of this sort going on in the automobile market, but in the recreational or RV market as well. I wonder how many people who bought RV's are now underwater as far as negative equity goes and what that means to this industry going forward. Cheers.
Covid was the best thing to happen for me to sell my 5vr in January 2022. I was able to get out of it with higher prices because everyone wanted one and none for sale. Sold the truck for huge profit. I wanted to cut all my expenses because I had a sneaky suspicion what was going to happen to the economy and I was right. I miss the truck but I didnt need it let alone only 12mpg as a daily driver
I’m in NY, they’re making schools buy EV buses starting in 2026 for just under double the price, terrible range, especially in cold weather which only lasts from now until Mid April.
I’ve bought 2 Avalanches new…440,000 on my current & it’s my daily driver😮. I’ve got 2 nice BMW’s, a Mercedes AWD & a Gladiator Rubicon…I keep the Avy going as it tows a boat well & can haul 16’ boards easily. It just is a neat-adjustable-modular SUV-truck. I even have a tent that attaches! BOSE sound system & DVD, electronics before their time. Simple to work on & affordable!
The scratches on the Toyota hood are confined to the hood. A pissed person would damage more. My guess is that the glossy silver paint was reflecting in the drivers eyes and they didn’t like it. 🌞😎 So scrub it down with a Brillo pad to de-gloss it. 🤷🏻♂️ A dealer could wrap the hood in a flat black and it would look intentional.
When I was a kid (60's) all my circle of family and, friends bought used vehicle's. Im thinking that will be the future. Even payments are unaffordable for new and, the reliability isnt there anymore. Mechanics will rule the world again.
Yea they can’t pay for them because just out of curiosity. Watching your channel about buy here pay here dealers. I decided to visit one. Dressed a little dirty and looked to “get a loan” for a vehicle. Keep in mind I didn’t need one. I already have a 2016 F-150 and 2022 F-350. Both paid off with good credit. To someone like me they said since I had good credit they would offer me a great deal on a nice truck for 17% interest 😂😂😂😂 no wonder people are getting repoed. They are probably signing away and getting into a vehicle for 25 to 30% interest. Of course they can’t afford it. It’s almost like predatory lending.
The scratches on the hood are from the front wheel that cleans the hood on a car wash. Somebody went mudding and had a bunch of pebbles on their hood. The cleaning wheel picked up the pebbles and scratched the hood.
the FJ cruiser scratches are from sun damage--I just took my dad's car to a car body repair shop and long sun exposure had caused the paint to visibly crack in a pattern like the one on the FJ cruiser. Imagine how a desert dries out and you get these cracks forming in all directions on the ground. That's the way it was described to me. It is also why it is forming on the surfaces most exposed to the sun and not on the sides. There was likely no wax or protective coating and the car had been in the sun, uncovered, for years
Why on Earth are used car dealers paying these prices themselves!?! Most of these cars should sell from dealers for less than the dealers are paying for them. Thanks for the video!
the scratches are from branches of a low tree or high bush + winds while parked. Has happened to me before which is why I am careful where i park nowadays.
The scratches are from cats keeping warm at night on the hood. Had a problem with Ferrell cats during winter with car parked outside. Finally cleaned garage to park inside.
Used to buy a new car every 3-5 years. Now I'm still driving my 2009 Lexus RX 350 with 200,000 miles. No plans on buying a new one and I'm sharing the car with another family member. With two children of driving age, I should have bought at least 5 cars since 2009. Back then I would have never bought a used car. Today, I wouldn't buy a new one ... unless the prices correct.
I only paid about $44,000 for my 2012 Jeep wrangler Sahara unlimited! It only has 75,000 miles! I paid it off in 25 months! The Jeep is in very good shape and nearly new inside! My dad said it was a county vehicle, and they were making sure we'd get a good deal... Still had to pay $800, cuz someone caught on to the scam.

In order to make the payments reasonable they should extend the loan to 20 years. A 10 year loan is not realistic on an 80k truck. They could then sell the truck for a 120k. (said with sarcasm) 5 year should be the max length of a loan. Vehicle prices would be forced to come down, because the average person could not afford a 1200 or more monthly payment.

The problem is people have a lien on the title, upside down and most folks don’t have $30k cash to buy a Tahoe with 100k miles. The ones that do sure aren’t dumb enough to buy that clapped out POS with a grenading engine and trans 🤣

With regards to the FJ, the only thing I can think is, my buddy has a gray 2006 4Runner with similar scratching on the hood.
Here's what happened to the hood: Dude cheated on his girlfriend and she caught him.
Cheers.
Democrats are destroying Americas free market. EPA needs to be abolished permanently.
ALL COMMUNIST DEMOCRATIC STATES bwhhahahahahhaaa
They really need to stop banning anything it's wrong were letting them do this to us.
It's crazy when 2 vehicles in the garage can cost more then the house
It's crazy you can't get two vehicles in a garage now.
Been driving my 99 Dodge ram 1500 360 since 2009 was my first vehicle I bought it for 3200 still going strong with 175000 miles
Once Tariffs are enacted in 2025, you are really going to see a lot of repos and the economy Tank.
The scrapes on the front of the FJ aren't tree limbs. That my friend is the result of a bad breakup.
I will continue to maintain my 2003 Ford and 2004 Toyota. Parts are way less money than the prices these leeches want.
The FJ windshield glue is because that trim piece on top works loose and wind gets under it and hums mercilessly.
Hi Brandon, 2025 is just around the corner. Let us know your predictions for the new year.
Almost? You're giving the benefit of the doubt to dealerships that don't deserve it.
Those scratches are from the owners pet tiger. 😂
Those scratch marks might be from someone scarping off Ice/snow?
YES!!!!!!!
Toyota looks like someone took a Brillo pad and just started scraping it. Just, why ?
The scratches on the hood are from the front wheel that cleans the hood on a car wash. Somebody went mudding and had a bunch of pebbles on their hood. The cleaning wheel picked up the pebbles and scratched the hood.
Deregulation = lending money to anyone who asks, caused the last recession 20 years ago. We never learn.
Deregulation in the state and federal mandates is what we need.
the FJ cruiser scratches are from sun damage--I just took my dad's car to a car body repair shop and long sun exposure had caused the paint to visibly crack in a pattern like the one on the FJ cruiser.
Car market isn’t a reflection of the economy. Car market is always a rollercoaster.
the scratches are from branches of a low tree or high bush + winds while parked. Has happened to me before which is why I am careful where i park nowadays.
Washed with sandpaper
Bad repaint job.
New is overpriced because now new cars have less value, new cars have less quality.
I always washed it by hand. No swirling paint marks on it that would indicate that she went through a car wash. Got to take care of your vehicle if you want to keep it running great years.
$44k … for a Jeep… 🤣
@ yep! About $44,000 for my Jeep! It’s double the price now for a jeep like mine that’s brand new! I forgot to mention that I bought my Jeep Dec 2011 brand new and they were trying to get rid of the 2012s and bringing in the 2013s. Lol
I know you think it is ugly, but also in the car business “There is an ASS for every seat” you just have to hope you find the right one… lol
Brandon great job! Q1. Are prices (plus dealer costs) in line with the 'standard' prices such as KBB? Q2. Are repos, year and cost, typically younger and higher than trade ins?
I still see people driving new cars!! Some people just don't get it.
those repo cars are a steal. my dad took me to a auction, and we were looking at this truck and the interior looked all messed up, among other stuff... EASY STUFF. My dad said it was a county vehicle, and they were making sure we'd get a good deal... Still had to pay $800, cuz someone caught on to the scam.
Lol repo on a 2008 escalade that is beat to hell? Who gets a loan for that? I mean really. Even the bank had to pay to get that reposed. At that point you'd think the bank would just say screw it.
"The prices will go down, dealers are done!!!" Three years later nothing happened and you still have to pay or become a foot soldier. Corporations control you, not the other way around.
Are the auction buyers stupid? If they are paying more than its worth. You are double paying more that it's worth.
You can find deals if you are patient enough and really research what you want.
Bought a 22 Nissan Frontier SV 4x4 with a little over 20k miles for $26k OTD.
Don’t feel bad you’re probably charging your Tesla from a coal fire power plant !
Still better than gas.
Nuclear
No, it probably doesn't - coal generation capacity has dropped off a cliff since high efficiency combined cycle gas turbine plants became available in the mid 2000s - As of 2023, the top sources for electricity generation in the US are Natural Gas (43%), Renewables (21%), Nuclear (18%) - Coal is #4 at 16% and dropping.
@@RustyZipper Nuclear is feared by Americans. They think it is still the 1060's.
Hood scratches could be from transporting something on the hood, like a spare tire or jack or something that wasn't tightly secured.
prices of autos the last few years got me thinking everyone’s pay other than mine must have increased substantially cuz how else can ppl afford these prices? I must be financially poor even tho I have zero debt cuz I can’t contemplate paying the average $45k auto. Just keep driving my 2004 Accord
Sold at the auction for $6200.00 for an 11 year old Corolla with 155,000 miles? That's the reason why pre purchase use car buying inspection is a must if you will pay around $9,997 at a dealership
People got to stay in their foreclosed homes longer too back in like 2010 onward…there was so many foreclosures and so many homes on each street for sale it was sad… I knew people that were in their home 3 years before they finally had to go..they saved their house payment for 3 years and bought a house cash when a 150k bungalow was 50k…this is what’s happening on the car industry now.
The GM 3.6 V6 has had numerous problems and is expensive to maintain properly. I won't buy any vehicle with that motor.
I like the el Camino and the Ranchero. A lot of people pull the Escalade interior out and put it in a Silverado. Instant upgrade?!
went to the credit union to make my car payment and someone else was in their turning in their keys to their new nissan. First time I have ever seen a repo is now with all of this going on.
All the used car dealers got to do is REFUSE to pay over a certain amount. Force the prices down.... or you get no sales.
IT’S OVER
Nah, it’s just begun
The Repo man a cometh.
That escalade has a 6.2l and a 6l80 trans. Because it's an 08 its a non afm/dod truck. I love those rigs.
I'm pretty sure GM started afm in 07
@@Shamwow-gc4fq For the 5.3, not the 6.2.
SUV’s are non afm in this bodystyle from 07-09..2010 started afm in the 6.2.. the 5.3 had afm starting in 2007…
The 1500 trucks from 07-13 with 6.2 do not have afm(the 5.3’s do)…the first year for afm in the 6.2 (in the 1500 trucks ) was the new k2xx in 2014..
That FJ hood had a pattern very similar to fiberglass that was poorly sealed and painted. I know they offer fiberglass hoods for these vehicles.
What banks are going to finance used cars priced like these??? NONE
The banks don’t. The butchers buying them do. They take the risk. They can always repo…again. And they can legally charge up to 29.99% APR.
How do you get into a car with an open window? Erm, reach in and use the inside handle..?
Glad I own both my vehicles no loans or payments,
WOW is I can say about what these guys are bidding on..... I dont believe that inflation is a problem or there is a problem in the economy... these prices are very telling
Wondering which make even model are most likely to be a repo canidate, also, does a buyer who gets repo'd, do they get a note on the bank check by a potential car seller ?
The car with the scratches… rebuilt wreck. Bad bad primer, bad paint, cracked. I would not be surprised if it was a salvaged title.
The silver Toyota cruiser, might of had a ranch dog riding on the hood !
Awesome show my friend.
This happened in 2009. Lenders are going to take a bath. People taking out ARMs and 10% auto loans. History is repeating itself.
I saw one of those toyotas and on the hood was a flat plate but it had a electric plug going to it......the only thing that I could figure out is that it was some kind of heating element
can you show us the oil dip stick to see how bad it is
You know you've hit bottom when your 2008 Cadillac Escalade with 204,000 miles which has bad paint, bald tires and ripped seats gets repo'd...
Be proud of the Tesla. Don’t sell out to appease the people.
"Be proud of the Tesla."😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
if you have the ability to charge at home and you rarely travel over 500 miles ones way - used Tesla's are some of the best bargains out there
@@mattdomanski9442- I remember back when the Bolt’s were catching fire I looked into buying a used one but a decent one was $19k. If I had a free charger at work it would be perfect. Or I can buy a high mileage Camry for $5k and spend $14k in fuel and repairs to break even 🤣
On the FJ Cruiser hood it appears like two types of paint interacting after exposure yo the sun.
Thanks for the update
11:53 There are some 4Runners that are only 2WD. They are not as desirable/valuable as 4WD. Though if you only drive on snowless/iceless pavement, you may not need 4WD.
I think it was a 2 wd drive. I didn't have the 4wd gear box that mine has. I paid 18k for it a few months ago
Thank you for the Real information Bro
65k Colorado needs timing chain still crazy money
I'm just shaking my head. The wheel of greed keeps spinning and the small guy keeps on having to make by with a third class citizen status.
i wouldn't pay for any of this trash if they gave it to me for $1.
My 1987 second gen camry running like new with 70k miles
So is my 71 oldsmobile delta 88 convertible and my wife's inherited 84 c10 silverado 😅
That looks like (a "Brick") was rubbed over the hood. Look at the (striation) directions, which are in a (crisscross) direction.
Anything longer than 5 years is just crazy they are nailing you on interest..
I like that fj, good for an off road build.
There isn’t much profit left on the Corolla, after all other expenses. How much do they think they can sell it for?
