Mark's pack dump videos are the best as far as I'm concerned. I always pick up some tip I can use. I'm still rocking a Tenzing CF13 because of a video he did years ago before EXO was started.
I live up in the Yukon Territory and my go to hunting boot is Hanwag Trapper Top GTX they hold up better than anyother hanwag. Ive used my first pair for 6 years fighting forest fires, hunting and hiking, 2nd pair im still using 4 years later mainly hunting and hiking. Give these boots a try
Thanks, Patrick. The Hatch bipods do seem like a good option where weight isn't a concern, but I would not pack a 20oz bipod on a backpack hunt. For seated shooting, here is my favorite setup: exomtngear.com/blogs/article/rifle-shooting-with-hunting-pack
Wow, great review. You should look at the MTN Gear Stick for a trip like this! Crazy winds. Guess this is the scenario where the weight of a Hilleberg Soulo would be worth it.
I had used the Mtn Stick on my mountain goat hunt. It is a good option as well. The Soulo has a tougher fabric than the Niak, but still has the 9mm poles. It would have been interesting to see how the Niak with 10mm poles would have performed.
@@ExoMtnGearthose were pretty tough conditions. I've used the Soulo in NZ tops conditions, much better design to handle heavier winds (Red label) over the Naik (yellow). Don't think 10mm poles on the Naik would have made a difference. Guess that's the risk when you hunt big country.
Appreciate the post-hunt, in-depth AAR. I'm curious if the guides tent was flattened, and if not what was he using? I almost bought a niak for an upcoming Dall's hunt, but have been on the fence about 9mm vs 10mm, etc.
The guide was using the same tent and it was laid flat, but the poles didn't break. When my poles broke I was outside of the tent, whereas the guide was in his tent at that time supporting it.
@@Jaemillz09 To go with the 900 over 850, you'd be spending $80 to save about an ounce. I don't remember if it was the same price and weight difference when I bought (4+ years ago), but it wasn't worth it to me at that time.
Could I get more details about the scoped action cover? I’m running a 7 saum in a folding MDT. The cover I’m using now isn’t built for a chassis. It works but, definitely not ideal. Thanks
It honestly varied by day. Some days were far more intense. Some days we didn't move nearly as much, or were weathered in for most of the day. I drank by feel, but didn't track intake. Total daily calories packed were in the 3700-4000 range and I always consumed what I had allocated for the day, but was satisfied.
We haven’t measured it, but it is less than you think. Our fabrics are very water-resistant and the closed-cell foams we use do not absorb water like traditional foams would.
Thanks for the awesome gear list Mark - congrats on the memories made on a hard hunt and the great Ram taken.

I’ve been waiting for this to drop!!!! Thank you mark.
Love the detail here, as always. Keep it up!
Thank you Mark! Looking forward to content project
Incredible gear breakdown. Such good info. Thank you for sharing Mark.
If you haven't seen it yet- check out the Hatch bipod- it drops super low and is perrrfect for shooting from a seated position. Love the content!!

4:28 holy crap you found the end of the rainbow... did the leprechaun gift you that incredible ram as a reward? lol

@snoop2477 agreed, a Soulo or Akto would have been more suitable

We appreciate the detailed breakdown, I picked up a couple of ideas. But man, is there anything cooler than that euro ram? Congrats on a great hunt
Thanks, Josh. Agreed on Euro for rams. Nothing like being able to put your hands on them.
Any overfill added in the katabatic Alsek? If so, how much? Or just the 22 degree quilt as it comes? Thanks
No overfill at all. Just the standard 850FP config.
@@ExoMtnGear any particular reason for Duck Down 850fp over Goose Down 900 fp?

It is from LSWild… www.lswild.com/store/p30/Hunter_Scoped_Action_Armor.html
@@ExoMtnGearthanks. I did see a it on their website. What lightweight material did you have them use on yours?
What size and fill is that quilt?
Long, Wide with 850fp Duck Down
Good job

@@ExoMtnGear awesome - always interested to hear different perspectives to water intake. Thanks for the quick reply.
What is the total weightof the backpack when loaded with gear?
You can the full gear list with weights at exomtngear.com/sheep-gear
Without the use of a rain cover, has anyone measured weight gain of the pack when saturated with water?

So they only replaced one boot? Seems like bare minimum effort for customer service if that’s the case
They replaced the pair (both boots had failed), but it took more effort/convincing that it should have.
@@ExoMtnGear you would think they’d have better service for long term customers. But at least they took care of it
If the whippet (sp?) on the trekking poles can't last 1 hunt, I do not consider it worked 'OK
Say exedra one more time.
