Or are you genuinely searching for answers because you're realizing you were created by Him and for Him and are being called by the Holy Spirit? I did a study on the meaning of "The Gospel" a while back. Yes, it means Good News. But, it does not necessarily mean "Good for us News". It means "A reliable message", meaning a message that is true and one that can be trusted. A TRUE message that we can be confident that it is the ACCURATE message from God! It is the Gospel. We can be SURE that EVERYTHING Jesus spoke was ACCURATE, RELIABLE, TRUE AND that we can be CONFIDENT to believe it. A Good Message.... True!

But I am so glad that I have found you! This is the first sermon I listened, pastor Mike and I think I can listen to most of my day. I am great full to God finally. I really love this series. And please complete it. I would really want if you do it with the whole Bible from the OT to NT . It would be awesome then! I am so excited! Glory to God.

Wanted to let you know when you said "cutting people out of my life is from the devil", it made me realise what I have done wrong in the past. God pressed upon my heart to act (and so I did). I made an attempt to reconcile with someone I have wronged in the past.
God moves in the small moments that even we don't even intend. I know the subject of this sermon had nothing to do with reconciliation but that is what I took. Its not in God to 'just cut people out of his life'. He accepts all of us and embraces us. He came for us all, not just for select group of people.
Thank you for sharing God's word and his truths. They always shine through.

45:20, "We do this 'all' the time, when we use 'all' to not mean 'all.' We all know what we mean."
Yes, the literary term for a figure like this is a Synecdoche (si-NECK-duh-key). A Synecdoche can either be a whole to express a part, or a part to express a whole. For example, "Man shall not live by bread alone," bread used for all types of food, or sometimes Paul will use the word "hand" for the whole person.

Question for your next Q&A: I’m in a frat at college and I’ve been trying to start a Bible study with some of the guys but it’s like pulling teeth. Some of them claim to be Christians but definitely don’t live it out. How do I lovingly try to bring them back into the fold and create a fellowship within the house with them?

    • @SavedbyGraceAlone84
      @SavedbyGraceAlone84 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

This is what I would suggest. Just start doing it. Just start saying you're having Bible study at this time and date. Then do your study. Invite everyone each time to study with you. Eventually you'll have one at least that will come and if you keep it up there may be more. Even if not, you're still getting your Bible study in and the option is there for the others to join you. Sadly, a lot of professing Christians don't live a Christian life and a lot of it can be attributed to age and maturity, especially in your environment. I know because I was also one of those people and it took me a lot of years to finally admit and have my real "come to Jesus" moment about my walk with him. I know this is a 3 year old comment but maybe someone else will read it and it can help someone.

For the benefit of whoever is reading this comment:
I believe that ending friendships can well be Biblical. God 'cuts off' people as well, and we are not God.
If it's a pattern, and if it's done too easily, I can understand it being wrong.
But sometimes it is necessary to regain peace when it is not possible to 'gain' the person by pointing out what needs to happen.
Probably Mike doesn't disagree with this, but just to add some nuance to the statements given.
Apart from that, I really enjoyed and benefited from the message.

Regarding Mark 1:2, it's not clear how it being a "known thing" that people attribute scripture to a prophet who didn't write it makes it in any way less problematic (though I would also love to read any literature you have on the phenomenon). The reality still exists that the author attributes a quote from Mal. 3:1 to Isaiah the prophet. Additionally there is evidence even within the NT that people did take issue with this. For example, under the consensus position of Markan priority, it is evident in both the author of Matthew's and Luke's redaction of Mark that they at least wanted to avoid making the same false attribution, as in their redaction of Mark they drop the use of Mal. 3:1, (see Matthew 3, and Luke 3). There is additional evidence that this attribution method in Mark was at least considered problematic by early interpreters, for example, scribes changed the text in transmission to avoid the misattribution to Isaiah (see any textual apparatus covering the gospel of Mark, but for a popular example see Codex Alexandrinus).

For anyone interested, there is an interesting discussion of this in the book Wayne C. Kannaday 'Apologetic Discourse and the Scribal Tradition. Evidence of the Influence of Apologetic Interests on the Text of the Canonical Gospels (Text-Critical Studies, V. 5.) (2005, Brill Academic Publishers)'

Often times people don't like the fire-and-brimstone preachers because of the manner it is delivered. Especially for people who are in that environment every single week.

I agree. I just don’t want to through out the baby with the bathwater on this.

Good stuff, no doubt, but saying there's a need to prepare for Jesus with repentance wasn't my experience, at all. In fact, a tough feat if one is dead in their sins. I appreciate your ministry Mike, has been invaluable to me. God bless you my friend.

There is one thing that always struck my curiosity. It seems John was in a desert like area; ( at least in every movie I saw ), so where was he getting all of these locusts and honey to eat ?

God always provides. When the children of Israel were in the wilderness, God provided them with manna (bread). 💗

Enjoying this brother. Coming back and getting stuff I missed. Did you ever see the 6 hour "Jesus of Nazareth"? It's my favorite Jesus movie, accept the Passion which was much later, but it was made for 3 nights on TV in '77. But Michael York's portrayal of John the Baptist is permanently etched in my mind! You may can TH-cam his part. Excellent! Powerful, just how it must have been! Not like we read it. Please try and check out. Appreciate you, man! Lord bless....

Pastor Mike, have you done a video yet dedicated to the deity of Jesus? If not, would you consider it? 🙂
