As a former Muslim, studying these evidence, the trinity now makes perfect sense. God uses the Angel of the lord and his spirit to reveal himself and his words. Jesus is God.
@ Evin Afurالبحث عن الحقيقة The trinity does not make sense. The doctrine just is not true. Trinitarians are like Sunni Muslims. The sheer numbers of people that believe the trinity does not make the doctrine true. Islam and its many sects is 100% false. However, Jesus in the role of Messenger or Agent of Jehovah/Yahweh, does NOT make him God. The principle of agency as revealed in the OT completely destroys the idea that the trinity is taught in the bible.

Here are only a few verses from Torah: Genesis 1:2 "The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the SPIRIT OF GOD was hovering over the face of the waters." The holy spirit is also mentioned throughout the old Testament: Genesis 1:1-2 Deuteronomy 30:14 Psalm 104:30 2 Samuel 23:2 Isaiah 59:21 Job 33:4 Micah 3:8 Numbers 27:12-23, 27:18 Judges 3:10 Etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.. 4. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty GOD, ETERNAL FATHER, Prince of Peace." 5. Jesus says he is Lord. Others also claim he is Lord: John 4:25-26 " The woman said to Him, “I know that the messiah ( the Eternal Father, Mighty God, Born Son, as read in Isaiah 9:6) is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He. ” John 13:13 Jesus said "You call Me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’; and you are correct, for so I am." 1 john 5:7 "For there are THREE that bear witness in heaven: the FATHER, the WORD, and the HOLY SPIRIT; and these THREE are ONE". John 17:11 Jesus said “I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, watch over them on account of your own name, which YOU have given ME, so that they may be one just as WE ARE ONE." John 20:28 "Thomas said to him, "My Lord and MY GOD!" John 5:32 Jesus said " so that all may honor the Son JUST AS they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him" john 10:30 Jesus said " I and the Father are one.” John 14: 8-15. "Philip said to him: “Lord, show us the FATHER, and it is enough for us.” Jesus said to him: “Even after I have been with you men for such a long time, Philip, have you not come to know ME? Whoever has seen ME has seen the FATHER also." Colossians 1:19 "because GOD was pleased to have ALL FULLNESS TO DWELL IN HIM". Matthew 28:19 Jesus said to his disciples "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." 6. The trinity is revealed: 1 john 5:7 "For there are THREE that bear witness in heaven: the FATHER, the WORD, and the HOLY SPIRIT; and these THREE are ONE". The "Godhead " is another word for the trinity, read Colossians 1:19 and Romans 1:20 Between the Torah and the Gospel, we read about 1 God, 1 Holy spirit and 1 messiah. Trinity = three in unity
I love how God can choose to be ambiguous in His Word. Really good stuff. The Bible is so vast there is a lifetime of learning there to discover. I'm still learning new things that are just as exciting as when l first got saved.
So glad you present both the arguments for and against the angel of the Lord being pre-incarnate Jesus. I have been born again, and that in itself is overwhelming, but then to grapple with these questions is an added challenge. It can be scary. You did a wonderful job of presenting information and allowing people to seek God on these issues. Thank you, Mike!
@@alvinlee55 You dont know the Bible. Lol. Jesus is all over the Old Testament. Daniel 7:13-14 with Matthew 26:64-65 is a perfect example. And this verse shows he is GOD because Riding on the clouds is something that ws only attribued to YHWH. When jesus said this is Matthew 26 the guy tore his garments and called it blasphemy bc he knew the Son of Man was a divine figure who did something only God could do. (isa. 19.1, psalm 68:4, 33; 104:3, Deuteronomy 33:26. proves my point that only YHWH rides on the clouds. If youre ignorant to the scripures you will say im wrong when its clearly laid out.

@@alvinlee55 You're disagreeing with the word of God, you know. This is spiritually dangerous. No one here said that Jesus is the Father, but that He is God, as is the Spirit. I'm personally willing to walk you through it. But I'm speaking bluntly because tomorrow is not promised. The Trinity doctrine comes out of the Scriptures not fancy. It's thinking that it's the invention of man that is frustrating you, I believe...? Would you first like biblical evidence that Father Son and Holy Spirit created the universe, and all present at Creation; how the Yahweh described Himself plurally?? Would you prefer biblical confirmation of the Holy Spirit's Person-hood?? Or, should we go straight to Scriptures where Jesus is called God?? At your request we can begin with the Father's reference to His Son by the name God. Or we can just begin with Father Son and Holy Spirit verses of Unity. We don't have the extraordinary mind of the Almighty. But we have good measures of godly reverence, to trust what He says. There's the invitation; do you want God, or you...? In Christ, love and blessedness! 🙌 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5)
This is one of my favorite Bible-study topics ever. I studied all of this out about 15 years ago and it was life-changing, even though I had been a Christian for 15 years at that time. Wonderful!

Hi Mike, I have been looking for Jesus in the Old Testament for some years now and was excited to come across your teaching here. As I was listening and following you got to Judges 6. I smiled and figured you would also jump on the Angel of the Lord also visiting Samson’s parents. However......as I read the Word with you in 6, it was revealed to me that Gideon was “threshing wheat in a wine press” in hiding. I was shown that Gideon is actually doing exactly what Jesus would be going through.....in front of Jesus. Beating the bread in hiding, Jesus being beaten and broken and then the wine press, His blood shed for us....in hiding so that it could be done for our spiritual nourishment. If He revealed who He was, they would never have done it. Just as if Gideon revealed what he was doing, the enemy would have stopped it and no nourishment. Amazing stuff. Another tent stake as an anchor to withstand the storm. Praying for you brother this day.
False teaching is good? You are delusional or you just haven't studied the Bible to see if this nonsense is true. I can tell you from 55 years of studying the Bible this is nonsense.
He did an amazing job teaching. Of course it’s not going to win a popularity contest. The Old Testament is about God/Jesus and the New Testament is about God/Jesus
@@pwx13 There is no God/Jesus in the OT. There is God with Jesus working through Jesus in the NT. Hebrews 1:1-2 tells us God spoke in the past through various prophets but in these last days God speaks through Jesus. Read Deuteronomy 18:15-18 and tell me what you get out of it. Also look at Acts 3:20-26. Jesus is NOT GOD. Jesus is God's shalliah (divinely anointed Messiah, agent, representative), and His begotten Son. Stop spreading the lies of Churchianity.

This is really incredible. I feel like I can be so dense sometimes. I always thought of Jesus referring to Moses writing about Him in just a generalized sort of way. It never dawned on me that Jesus meant Moses was specifically writing about Him. I feel like I had blinders on. This makes so much sense

Thank you for this great work and your time defending the true gospel. I had a dream, last year November, don't know whether to say a dream or vision, but I had the Holy Spirit giving me answers to my problems, and I heard a voice a Man, and but at the same time, something told me that He's the Holy Spirit, but as He was talking to me, He told me that "I see you are stirring at where I Am (as in looking at where the voice was coming from ) and you are not supposed to See Me," it can be the end of me,meaning die. . He said "in the mean time keep watching the sun while I'm talking to you". And after looking away, He started telling me answers, things I wanted to know. People Trinity exist, and the Holy Spirit Exist, and Jesus is Lord..They are One and He's coming soon.
We must keep in mind that the word "angel" simply means " a messenger" . Now when Joshua was commanded to remove his shoes while talking to " the captain of the hosts of the LORD" before attaching Jericho : was a first class encounter with pre-incarnate Jesus
We will be looking at that passage next week. Along with several other ones that are connected to this concept but don’t have the phrase “the angel of the LORD” or “the angel of God”
No it wasn't. You can't read Jesus into the text like that. Your view is refuted by numerous scriptures that speak of Jesus being begotten, born, and predestined according to God's foreknowledge. Foreknowledge and predestination is not the same as preexistence......and the incarnation is unbiblical nonsense,
@John fisher In case you didn't notice I gave you a plethora of Bible verses that refute the incarnation and pre-existence of Jesus. What is the point you are making by quoting Revelation 13:8? What do you think it means? Why the insults? Do you really think someone who has spent 55 years studying the Bible for over 75,000 hours does it just to upset you? I gave you the Biblical truth that is absolutely compatible and I explained the verses you quoted to show you that your interpretation of them is incompatible with the Bible. Insults mean you lost the argument....so why don't YOU listen and learn from someone who eats, sleeps, and drinks Bible 8 to 16 hours a day for over 75,000 hours. You don't even come close to knowing what I know.
@Conan R You assume I am not humble. You mistake my faith and confidence in God, His word, and His Son as something other than humility. If you think I am proud, prove it....of else put it out of your mind because it will only make you stumble. I said 75,000 hours, not 700 plus. Why does that make you think I am not humble? A humble person has faith and confidence in God, His word, and His Son....a Proud person would not spend 55 years studying the Bible. I don't think you know the difference between true humility that comes from above and the pride of the Devil. The Devil knows the Bible, but his mission is to make people doubt it. My mission is to help people put their faith, trust, and hope in it by resolving the translation and interpretation errors that are in conflict with the rest of the Bible. Is your mission to go around telling people they are not humble? You are playing into the Devils hand and accusing me falsely. Repent! God hates false accusers. I simply stated a few facts about my years and hours of studying the Bible. God gets the glory, not me. If I wasn't humble enough to accept God's word and receive the gift of the spirit from God I would never have studied in the first place. You are confused. Are you jealous that you haven't studied that many hours and years? Shut up and learn from people who have studied and you will grow spiritually a lot quicker than if you keep putting people down who studied more than you.
@Conan R You lack humility when you speak for everyone. YOU don't care because you are a jealous arrogant fool who refuses to learn....you won't even open your Bible to see if what is taught is true. I don't care what you think. It's better the please God than man.
@@crutherfordmusic I take it you don't believe in the Trinity? I saw the Trinity or Godhead for myself. It does exist. You can quote all the terminology or Scripture you want to, I know what was revealed to me. I witnessed the Deity of Jesus Christ. And you know what else? The following morning I heard His voice for the first time in real time. Before this it was in dreams.
God says to Moses to tell the people 'I Am' (as his name) sent you 20:55 God later says to Moses obey the Angel for my name (read I Am) is in him 23:00 Yeshua says "Before Abraham was, I am" 41:14 Thank you Pastor Mike for your explanation. It seems that I Am is put forward as a declaration for God, Jesus and the Angel of the Lord as the same being in the Bible. This will help me understand the OT better now.
A most excellent teatment of this subject. Most of the well-known evangelical Bible commentaries state that *The Angel of the LORD" is none other than the pre-incarnate Christ. It is unthinkable to me that the one who was the very agent of God, through whom all things were created, would not have been active in the preparatory redemptive economy, i.e. the Old Testament history. Christ appears throughout the Old Testament Scriptures prophetically, typically, and literally as the Angel of the LORD -"the Angel of His presence" (Isaiah 63:9). In fact, the whole Trinity can be seen in Isaiah chapter 63 (THE LORD, THE ANGEL OF THE LORD, and THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD). Thus we see that the Old testament testimony dovetails perfectly with the triune Godhead explicitly revealed in the New Testament. Thank you brother for this outstanding presentation on a most important, yet often misunderstood, topic. God's richest blessings to you and your ministry.
Really interesting study, thanks for doing it. I've never heard teaching on the Angel of the Lord and was stumped as to why the A in Angel was capitalized in my bible. It's something I want to definitely study more. On another point you mention the starting out of some being better than the ending and that we should take that as a warning. Calvary Chapels hold to eternal security right? Or do you believe we should be warned because we can lose our salvation(starting out good, but finishing badly).
Thanks, brother! I agree with you. The Angel of the Lord cannot possibly an ordinary angel, because the Angel Himself states that He is equal with God the Father and the Spirit of God. The word 'angel' in hebrew also means messenger or representative. So it could be used for a human messenger, or an angel, or the Messenger of God. The 'Angel' of the Lord call Himself as God and are equal to God (Genesis 31:13), He accepts worship, (Joshua 5:14) (Judges 13:20) He is holy that the ground become holy (Joshua 5:15) just like when God appeared to Moses in (Exodus 3:5). If you compare to other heavenly beings as in (Acts 12:8) the angel doesn't ask Peter to take off his sandals as in (Joshua 5:15). If you want to say that Jesus is an ordinary angel, please read Hebrew 2:5-13. Jesus is more superior than angels because: 1. He is the Son - angels have no such relationship with God. 2. He is worshipped by angels 3. He have throne - angels don't have thrones 4. He is God 5. He created the heaven and earth - angels aren't involved in the creation of heaven and earth 6. He live forever From this text, we know that Jesus is God. Angels cannot make themselves equal to God. Isaiah 14:12 tells us that Satan or Lucifer, the angel, rebelled to God and are thrown away from heaven because he trying to make himself more powerful than God. So, think twice before you say Jesus is an angel. Jesus is God, without beginning and end, equal with God the Father and Holy Spirit, and He is the Creator of the universe. May God bless everyone who read this. And please correct me if there's mistakes. Sorry for my English 😂😂.
@Joshua Jade We find instances of angels speaking, acting, and being treated as if they were God because they are God's agents. Hence why they are called God's "messengers" מַלְאָכִים֙ (malakim). Even Moses calls himself YHVH God in Deuteronomy 29:6 speaking as God as God's messenger.
John 1:18 with Mariah & his wife just blew me away! It is amazing to see Scripture with the Light that is shining on it & be thrilled as the Word is alive. ♥️🙏🏼
"Behold, I am going to send My messenger, and he will clear the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; and the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight, behold, He is coming," says the Lord of hosts. Malachi 3:1 I (GOD) wil send a messenger before ME (GOD) amd sudenly He (The Lord, Messiah) who you await wil come to HIS TEMPLE(GOD'S TEMPLE) and the messenger (Angel in Hebrew) . Behold (God speaking) He (The Messiah, Angel of the covenant) is coming. God In the 1st Person says He is coming, then He, in the third Person says The Angel of The covenant (Messiah) will come.
Luke writes the Angel of the Lord called himself Gabriel in Luke 1:19. The argument that the word angel simply means messenger is a collectivist argument meant to distract people form examining the CONTEXT. Angel can mean messenger but the context determines it's true meaning. Angels are often heavenly beings far superior and far more powerful than humans. Jesus was 100 percent HUMAN. Jesus is never described as an angel, never says he is an angel, never says he is God, and always declared himself to be a man. Peter, John, Paul all believed Jesus was a MAN. Moses was a messenger....does that mean Moses is an Angel too? Jesus is NOT the Angel of the Lord. That conclusion is refuted by Luke 1:19 and Hebrews 1:3-7. *HEBREWS 1:3* "The Son is the radiance of YHWH's glory and the exact representation of YHWH's being, sustaining all things by YHWH's powerful logos. After he had accomplished the cleansing for sins, he sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high, " "exact representation" means an image or copy of the original, but not the original. Here the representation is in the human form of "the man Christ Jesus" 1 Timothy 2:5. *HEBREWS 1:4 * "so he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs." Jesus became superior to angels which means at one time he was not superior to angels. If he was not superior to angels before becoming superior to angels, then how could he preexist in Heaven as a deity? *HEBREWS 1:5* "For to which of the angels did YHWH ever say, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father"? Or again, "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son"?" These verses cannot be used as proof that Jesus is YHWH. Properly translated, these verses prove Jesus is not YHWH. Did YHWH become as much superior to angels as his name is superior to theirs? No! This verse is about Jesus Messiah. Jesus BECAME superior to angels which makes it obvious at one point in time he was NOT superior to angels. If he was not superior to angels in the past, it's obvious he did not preexist as an angel in heaven, nor is he coequal with God, as trinitarians believe. *Hebrews 2:9* "But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of YHWH he might taste death for everyone." Clearly Jesus died for our sins. YHWH cannot die, therefore Jesus is not YHWH. *HEBREWS 1:6-7* "When YHWH brings His firstborn into the world, He says, "Let all My angels worship him. In speaking of the angels He says, "I make My angels spirits, and My servants flames of fire." YHWH's firstborn is Jesus. YHWH is not talking to Himself. Jesus is not God nor is he or was he ever an Angel in heaven. Angels are not simply messengers. You perverted the word of God.
johnspartan98 If you truly study the scriptures and ask God the reveal the truth to you, you will see that there is something special happening in the Old Testament. The Angel of the Lord is not has the name of the Lord in Him and can forgive or not forgive men. We know that there is only one God, therefore the term “Angel of the Lord” is God, YHWH is God and the awaited Messiah of the Old Testament ( the one LIKE the Son of Man, that will come riding on the Clouds) is God. Jesus said when asked to speak plainly about who he is said “ I am He and after this you will see the Son of Man in His Glory coming in the clouds”. This is why the Low priest tore his clothes and said “we don’t need witnesses anymore because He has claimed to be God (blasphemy) in front of everyone at the trial. It was known that only God rides the Clouds. This is what we have labeled in our finite understanding of the composition of God “ The Holy Trinity”. Case Closed!!!

As I have preached the gospel for 15 years and have done it correctly. John repent or perish, this isn't a suggestion its an order from the Gospel. Its either you will repent or you will be in Hell.

You made a claim about me getting the wrong answer and never qualified your statement with any evidence. That tells me you have a demon filling your head with nonsense. You want Truth? Here is truth for you. If Jesus is God, then everything that is true for Jesus is true for God. This leads to a string of reductio ad absurdum conclusions. Examples of absurdities: Since Jesus is God and Jesus is begotten, that means trinitarians claim that God is begotten. Since Jesus is born of Mary, so God must be born of Mary; Since Jesus has wound in his side, so God has exactly the same wound. Since Jesus died for our sins, then God died for our sins. Since Jesus did not speak his own words, that would mean God doesn't speak his own words either. Clearly the above examples are absurdities. They prove Jesus is not God the Son, he is the Son of God. Thanks so much for this! I was reading a passage of scripture just yesterday that mentioned the Angel of the Lord. What's notable is he often uses first person pronouns when quoted i.e "I will". The Angel of the Lord is one of THE most fascinating things in the bible. I know from past readings the Angel of the Lord is said to actually be Jesus but I had some of the same questions you mention at the top of the video. I'm so happy you looked at this topic.
This is so good!! This is something i have wondered about for quite a while now, and i wasnt sure if i would find this kind of explanation anywhere.... Thank you so much!!!! I absolutely love this stuff!! This kind of in-depth study is so incredibly helpful!!! 🙏🥰
@A Lucky Man! given the Bible denying reality of the mainstream churches, I'd say you're correct, Biblical Earther's are followers of the WAY, aka YAW.
@A Lucky Man! it was in 2 Kings 23:5 the God had your high priest of Ba'al killed, those who worshiped the sun, moon and planets. And I bet you own a idol the globe and a TNASA/SATAN shirt to commemorate them flying above the clouds to be like the most high, even tho they've been liars and murderers from the beginning. Did you know the Nicholaitans were also sun worshipers and Jesus hated them.
@A Lucky Man! Dude, you could have a point, that just because someone believes and regurgitates all the Ba'al/sun worship beliefs doesn't make them a Ba'al/sun worshiper. Just like in WW2, wearing a Nazi uniform and saying Heil Hitler didn't make you a Nazi and Hitler supporter. I also agree, that just because Walt Disney and Stanley Kubrick were present at the forming of TNASA/SATAN, it didn't mean they helped fake the Moon landings. Or just because the Lunar Lander looked like it was put together on a weekend by a High School Prom Committee, using aluminum foil, cardboard and duct tape, doesn't mean it couldn't withstand the vacuum of space from ripping it apart. The Bible is 100% a motionless flat Earth book. Jesus is the Word and the Word is God and that makes Jesus the first flat Earther and I'm proud to stand firm upon his word and his motionless flat Earth. But if I am Wrong about the Bible and science confirming a motionless flat Earth. Please give me one Bible verse the confirms your flapping gums. Or one scientific experiment that confirms the surface of water will pool without being contained and when contained isn't always flat and level? Or an experiment that shows a vacuum can exist next to a pressurized atmosphere without a solid, physical barrier separating them?
Laziness of picking up your bible with note book pen bible dictionaries a coffe or a monster :) and beautiful instrumental sacred smooth music a heart of prayer and study...there is no hunger or thirst for that everything superficial
Very simple. In the old testament the Son came down in the form of an angel and in the new testament, the Son came down in the form of a man. Doesn't mean that the Angel and the man physically looked alike( because in the OT Jesus had not been born yet) but, they had the same personal Spirit. 😊
100% agree that Jesus is not an angel, but appeared as a angel in the OT. Also that He appears as Michael. (Again he's not an angel) I attend the SDA church. One of the reasons we are called a cult, is because we think Jesus appears as a Angel in the OT.
My favorite bible verse that I see as a reference to the angel of the Lord is Genesis 3:8 "and the heard the voice of the LORD walking". Voices don't walk. God's voice does
Dr. Michael Heiser, who earned his PhD in Hebrew Bible and Semitic languages, has written numerous books about the Unseen Realm, Angels, Demons, and other interesting Bible facts. His books are so informative and interesting. He takes the layman into depths of the Bible few pastors have ever done before. I highly recommend his books; The Unseen Realm, Supernatural, Angels, Demons, and my favorite Reversing Hermon. His writing is scholarly but easy enough for most of us to understand. He wrote about the Angel of the Lord in several of his books and his teaching agrees with you, Pastor Mike on the subject of the Angel of the Lord. Thank you, for all you do to teach the Word of God in depth. I appreciate your TH-cam Channel and learn something new every time I listen. 😍🙏📜🪔
I’ve read the Bible over and over since I became a Christian. Just last year God showed me this and it blew my mind. In John he says “He was in the world...” Also Jesus appears to Abram as the word of God, He appears to Jeremiah and he appears to Joshua as the Commander of the Lord’s Armies.
Jesus confirming his pre-existence in John 17-5 rering to the glory he had before the world was , and the Angel of God clearly been God + Jesus = God then make perfect sense Angel of God= Jesus or the form of the Son. Thanks for your effort and time invest in this Mike, may our God bless you and keep using you for his glory!. I can't wait to keep advancing in the chapters of this series!! is just so good for my spirit.
Who was the man who wrestled with Jacob and how does Jacob know to ask for a blessing if what he saw was only a man (not an angel or jin, or demon), then later said, "“I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been preserved?"
The Old Testament refers to "THE Angel of the Lord" while the New Testament refers to "AN Angel of the Lord." References to AN Angel of the Lord include the angel Gabriel announcing the coming John to his father Jesus to His father Zechariah (Luke 1:8), the coming of Jesus to His father Joseph (Matthew 1:20) and the birth of Jesus to the shepherds (Luke 2:9). Also, in at least two cases in the Old Testament, "THE Angel of the Lord" is asked His name and he asks each time "why do you ask My name" (Genesis 32:29 and Judges 13:8). In the New Testament, the angel Gabriel was not hesitant to reveal his name. (Luke 1:19) I suspect it is because Jesus, the Christ, either did not want to reveal His name as THE Angel of the Lord, or because He felt it should have been obvious to those witnessing the appearance that He was God.
I remember a video from the ministry One for Israel talking about how ancient Jews teachers saw the trinity in their text because of the Angel of the Lord. They only changed there attitude on this subject after Christ to fight the Christian doctrine of the trinity.
It does not matter what some stupid person somewhere thought he saw in the OT Bible. People read a lot of things into the Bible from their imaginations. Reading in meaning from one's imagination is foolish. We are to extract meaning from the Bible. NOWHERE in the Bible is the Trinity explicitly taught. The only place we find the Trinity doctrine being taught is in church creeds. Neither Jesus not the Apostles mentioned the trinity. Belief in the Trinity is not a requirement for salvation according to Paul's Gospel. If believing the Trinity doctrine is not required for salvation then it is a non essential doctrine and should be examined to see where it came from and who started it. Philo was the first to claim the concept of the Trinity and he was a Pagan Philosopher who dies in the mid 50's of the first century A.D. THE ATHANASIAN CREED Whosoever will be saved; before all things it is necessary that he hold the Catholic faith. Which faith except every one do keep -- whole and undefiled: without doubt he shall perish everlastingly. And the Catholic faith is this: That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity; Neither confounding the Persons: nor dividing the Substance. For there is one Person of the Father, another of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. But the Godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost is all one: the Glory equal, the Majesty co-eternal. Such as the Father is, such is the Son: and such is the Holy Ghost. The Father uncreate, the Son uncreate: and the Holy Ghost uncreate. The Father incomprehensible, the Son incomprehensible: and the Holy Ghost incomprehensible. The Father eternal, the Son eternal: and the Holy Ghost eternal. And yet they are not three Eternals: but one Eternal. As also there are not three incomprehensibles, nor three uncreated; but one uncreated, and one incomprehensible. So likewise the Father is Almighty, the Son Almighty: and the Holy Ghost Almighty. And yet they are not three Almighties: but one Almighty. So the Father is God, the Son is God: and the Holy Ghost is God. And yet there are not three Gods: but one God. So likewise the Father is Lord, the Son is Lord: and the Holy Ghost is Lord. And yet not three Lords: but one Lord. And, it goes on to say: And in this Trinity none is afore, or after another: none is greater, or less than another: But the whole three Persons are co-eternal together: and co-equal. So that in all things, as is aforesaid: the Unity in Trinity, and the Trinity in Unity is to be worshipped. He therefore that will be saved: must thus think of the Trinity. IN OTHER WORDS, THIS IS UN-BIBLICAL and BRAINWASHING!
*John 8: 58 "Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am." If you look at the name God gave to Moses, he called himself "YHWH" (Yahweh) which means I AM. Here in this verse above, Jesus calls himself I AM. Did you catch that? Jesus just called himself YHWH (Yahweh) Jesus is both God and, the son of God! *John 1: 1 "In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, AND, the word was God." *John 1: 14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." The word was made flesh? How can letters be made flesh or walk among us? It's because the word is describing Jesus Christ. Jesus is the word of God. The word of the Father IS the son. God became flesh. God became human. This is why the Son of God is also God. Jesus is the very image of God in the flesh. Jesus and his Father look like twins except, the Father is taller. They have the same face. The Holy Spirit is also God because he is the Spirit of God. *Colossians 1: 15 "The son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation." *Hebrews 1: 3 "The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high." *John 12: 45 "And whoever sees me, sees the one who sent me." Jesus is the expression of his Father in human form. That is why Jesus says to Philip in *John 14: 8-9, in his response of Philips question, "show us the Father"; "Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?" The Father is inside Jesus and Jesus is inside his Father. The Holy Spirit, which is the very spirit of God, and also is God, lives inside his children. *John 14: 10-11 "Believest thou not (?) that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake."John 14: 10-11 *John 1: 18 "No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is Himself God and is at the Father's side, has made Him known." *John 8: 19 "Where is Your Father?” they asked Him. “You do not know Me or My Father,” Jesus answered. If you knew Me, you would know My Father as well. *John 10: 30 "I and my Father are one." *1st John 2: 23 "Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; whoever confesses the Son has the Father as well."
@@Batya-Grace This is a SUMMARY: John 1:1-2; and 1:14 based on thousands of hours of research. If you want a more complete view with all my reference verses please ask. *In verse 2 "he" and "him" are mistranslations.* The word of God is an "it" not a he or a him. That's why the KJV has verse 2 translated: *_the same was in the beginning with God._* Verse 2 is a repeat of what is stated in verse 1. John obviously wanted to convey to the reader that the word of God is with God because the word is God's attribute and possession, not a person. People assume that John 1:14 is properly translated as follows: *_"and the word became flesh and dwelt among us..."_* However, this leads people to conclude the word became Jesus and therefore Jesus must be the word in John 1:1 which makes him God. This conflicts with the Bible because Jesus was begotten and born, while God is not a begotten or born being. God is a spirit. Jesus was flesh, blood and bones like the rest of us. After many thousands of hours of study God led me to discover John's intended message. *John 1:1* *~in the beginning~* Refers to the beginning of this present NT dispensation....not the Genesis creation. *~was the word~* Refers to the Gospel message that was preached from the beginning of this NT dispensation. *~and the word was with God~* Because the Gospel was God's plan and in His mind from eternity. *~and what God was the word was~* Both God, and His word (the Gospel) have the same divine quality. The Gospel is the light, and the life that comes from God to mankind through His Son. *John 1:14 * (the correct translation of Greek to English) *~and the word came to humanity and dwelt in us...~* The word did not become the flesh of Jesus. *"became" is a mistranslation because it conflicts with the Bible.* Luke 3:2 translates the same word "egeneto" as "came to." Several other scriptures describe the word of God as coming to people and dwelling in people. The Bible does not support the idea that the word became flesh. In addition, Jesus never refers to himself as the word, nor do the apostles. Jesus is the Son of God and Messiah. Jesus is not God. The light that shines in the darkness is the Gospel. God is light. 1 John 1:5. His Gospel is light. The Gospel placed into Jesus by God made Jesus the light of the world. Those who believed the Gospel were enlightened by it, and also became light unto the world.
@@Batya-Grace You are misinterpreting all of those scriptures. Beginning with John 8:58. If you knew the whole Bible you would know instantly that "I AM" is a mistranslation and Jesus is not saying that he is YHWH from Exodus 3:14. Besides the immediate context of John 8:58 which refutes your interpretation, you are in conflict with John's purpose in writing his Gospel which is stated in John 20:31. In addition you are in conflict with John 14:24; John 14:10; John 12:49-50; John 7:15; John 8:28 ; John 20:17; John 17:3; Matthew 16:15-17, and many many more scriptures. I pray you will look up each of these and place them in a file for quick review. Now, back for John 8:58 You should copy and paste the following to a file as well: The Greek text, and a proper contextual analysis, proves John 8:58 is mistranslation. Jesus did not claim the name of GOD that was given to Moses in Exodus 3:14 and Jesus did not claim to exist before Abraham. *BIBLICAL PROOF* The Hebrew and Greek scriptures do not translate John 8:58 as "I AM" John 8:58 uses "ego eimi." meaning "I am he" without the uppercase letters. "I AM" Is a MISTRANSLATION and leads people to make a wrong conclusion. The Greek in John 8:58 is *ego eimi* and it is translated as : “I am he”-Mark 13:6; Luke 21:8; John 13:19; John 18:5-8. “It is I”-Matt. 14:27; Mark 6:50; John 6:20. "I am not worthy" Matthew 3:11 "I am generous" Matthew 20:15 “I am the one I claim to be”-John 8:24 and 28 "I am he" (ego eimi) who (ho) you are speaking to - John 4:26 If Jesus was claiming to be God in John 8:58 we would see the Hebrew words: *"ehyeh asher ehyeh"* which is translated to Greek as: *"esomai hos esomai"* with some manuscripts rendering it as *"ego eimi ho on."* These phrases translate to English as follows: *"I will be who I will be"* with some English Bibles having it as *"I AM"* These are not what we see in John 8:58. John 8:58, as with John 4:26, has Jesus declaring himself to be the Son of God and the Messiah prophesied about throughout the Old Testament. "ego eimi" is everywhere else rendered “I am he.” Jesus is saying that he was in God's plan and purpose for redeeming mankind before Abraham existed. Jesus is not saying that he pre-existed as a being in heaven before Abraham. Jesus never claimed to be “coequal with God.” He declared that the Father "is the only one who is truly God” (John 17:3). Jesus words could not be more plain and obvious. Most English translations supply the word “he” to render the Greek to English properly "I am he", which is the correct translation for "ego eimi." The entire context for John 8:58 is centered around the Pharisees not believing Jesus is the Messiah. From John 7:40 to John 8:58 Jesus is providing proof to the Pharisees that he is the Messiah. John 8:56 states: "Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad." The Pharisees misunderstood Jesus. They thought Jesus was declaring to have existed before Abraham.....just as most readers make the same error today, because of the mistranslation. The Bible reveals it is a mistranslation because it conflicts with too many scriptures. Conflicts must be resolved otherwise interpreting the truth becomes a free for all in which everyone can turn the truth of YAH into whatever lie is fashionable. Abraham “saw” the Day of Christ because God told him it was coming. Even in Abraham's time the coming of Messiah was a well known prophecy. Abraham saw (knew and understood) the prophecy of the coming Messiah and accepted it by faith and rejoiced. In the context of YAH’s plan and foreknowledge, from the beginning, the Messiah was prophesied to come, before Abraham was. In simple terms, Jesus existed in YAH's plan for man’s redemption long before Abraham lived. In John 4:25, the woman at the well says to Jesus, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called the Christ); when that one comes, he will declare all things to us.” In verse 26, Jesus says to her, "I who speak to you am he' (ego eimi) - (I am he: the Messiah). Jesus never declares himself to be GOD. Jesus is declaring the same thing in John 8:58. "I am the Messiah prophesied about before Abraham ever existed." To say otherwise causes conflict and contradicts the Bible. Some people think that because John describes Jesus as “crucified before the foundation of the world” (Rev. 13:8) it means Jesus must have pre-existed. The problem with that notion is Jesus was crucified long after the foundation of the world. What John obviously means is that Jesus was appointed as Savior of the world before the birth of Abraham and that GOD'S plan and purpose for Jesus' crucifixion was established before Abraham ever existed. The only way to harmonize John 8:58 with the rest of the Bible is to correct the error and accept that Jesus only pre-existed in the mind, will, plan, and purpose of God. Reading any other meaning into John 8:58 destroys the context. In simple terms, the entire conversation leading up to John 8:58 means Jesus is the Son of God and Messiah who existed in YAH's plan for man’s redemption long before Abraham lived.
Pastor Mike. In John 1 to 3 tells us Jehovah is the Lord...beautifully written. Gabriel is Noah....bless you brother with a kind soul. Past prophets can be sent to earth by the Word, our Savoir Jesus to deliver glad tidings or other messages.
If it was an angel creature they would be introducing themselves like Michael in the book of Daniel and Gabriel. In the book of revelation if someone bows down in worship John was told not to bow down and worship the angel is only a servant. The Angel of the Lord. Man. Flaming fire. Bright light is the preincarnated Christ. Theopany is Gods.manifestation in visible.form. no one ever seen the father only Jesus to.avoid fatal encounter God manifested in visible form in OT. Christophany means Jesus manifestation after.resurrection like that of Paul John and Stephen of the NT
Spot on, it surprises me how so many people don't understand this. They get all caught up in the Trinity; the Trinity was not understood in the OT culture.
So grateful for you my brother, thankful to God for giving you that amazing brain!, you come at it at so many angles, your teachings are so well thought out and carefully studied and then you skillfully unwrap and even unwind the scriptures for us, so we can see the beautiful complexity of our Lord. Your enthusiasm to grow and learn as you teach us shines through.your enjoyable personality, l listen to you daily and I’m always pulled in and never lost. God bless you.
There is not true Hebrew word that means God in the way which the word God is used in English. El in Hebrew doesn't mean what God, an El can be any powerful/mighty being or object; Ha'El is not normally El Elyon(Highest Power), also Ha' is never in a proper name, so if you see for example Ha'Satan then it always "the/an accuser/opposer", note that but Satan and El are not nouns. satan is a verb means "to accuse", "to oppose" or "to go backwards" while el is a verb which means "to do with might" or "to go towards". "I am Ha'El(an improper noun meaning the/a mighty being) [of] Bet-El(a proper noun which is the name of the place called "Mighty House" or "House of Power"), the place where you anointed a pillar and made a vow unto me. Now arise, go out from this land and return to the land of your kindred." - Genesis 31:13
Ha and Betel makes haEl Betel a proper noun. If there was no ha it would be "god of Bethel," or "the god of Bethel." Bethel being a proper noun also makes god in this case a proper noun. Just like the phrase bet yisrael or THE house of Israel. Its this whole noun construct and word pair thing.
In a similar example, but without any reference to the Angel of the LORD, is Zechariah 12:10: thus says they will look on Me, the One they have pierced. They will mourn for Him as one mourns an only child, and weep bitterly for Him as one grieves a firstborn son. God says they will look on Himself whom they have pierced. When was God pierced? When Jesus appeared.
I have been studying the angel of the Lord because I was reading in Revelation 22 about John who keeps trying to worship this angel and the angel keeps telling him not to worship him but then goes on to say he is the angel of Jesus. Coming from a oneness apostolic background I found this very confusing. Thank you for this video, it has brought so much clarity and excitement to my study!

I do have a question, at the end of this video you said you were going to talk about why John uses the phrase “The Word” when speaking about Jesus, would you be so kind and direct me to that video please? Thank you :)
[Gen 18:2-4 NKJV] [2] So he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, *three men* were standing by him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to *meet them* , and *bowed himself to the ground* , [3] and said, “ *My Lord* , if I have now found favor in Your sight, do not pass on by Your servant. [4] “Please let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree.
The late rabbi Jonathan Sacks has an interesting take on this (maybe you can look up Parasha Wareja in his book Covenant And Conversation Genesis). When Abraham says 'adonai', that could also be interpreted as 'my gentlemen', speaking to the two passers by. According the tradition this passage should be read something like: My God, if I have found favor in your sight, then please wait untill I have welcomed these men, then turning to these two men, saying: i will get you water for your feet. Blasphemy? Respectless? Putting people's needs before God's ? Not so. Abraham could have reasoned that of everything in the world that God has put His image on, it's humans, every human, so also these two men. Living in faith is seeing God in the face of a passerby. Abraham knew that serving God and providing hospitality to strangers are not two separate things, but merge into one, we honor God by honoring people.
Hey Mike, I’m not sure if you still check these comments but I wanted to say I really appreciate all the work you put into these studies, they have been great and very beneficial. I’ve contemplated this for quite a while and was curious what you thought of this. Couldn’t the Angel of the LORD be Jesus in His glorified body? When Jesus was glorified He could appear and disappear at will and take forms that would cause Him to be unrecognized, like on the road to Emmaus. We exist in time, which we perceive as linear, but doesn’t God dwell in eternity in heaven? That would make eternity outside our linear time. So if Jesus ascended to Heaven after His resurrection, He technically went back to eternity. Therefore, if He dwells in eternity then He could appear anywhere in the timeline of human history in His glorified body. What are your thoughts on that?
I fully agree with this being a possibility, as I've had similar thoughts about that. I'm not saying that it is definitely the case, but I don't think we can rule it out either. As to him not being recognized on Emmaus, I don't think he necessarily took a different form. Chuck Missler at one point had a study on the resurrection appearances, and I think he made a good point that part of why he wasn't recognized by everyone immediately by sight was that due to his being beaten, tortured and marred before the crucifixion, he didn't look the same to everyone as he had before (some of the prophecies in the OT about his crucifixion seem to imply that his beard was ripped off, so may have had scar tissue), and yet when he spoke to Mary in the garden she recognized him by his voice, and the disciples on Emmaus recognized him later by the nailprints when he broke bread with them. Even in John 21:12, John states that while they did know they were seeing Jesus, they stopped themselves from asking "Who are you?", once again implying that there was a grain of uncertainty about how he appeared to them. Again, I'm not saying that this is exclusively the case, but it's definitely something to think about.
Amen! Mike (or anyone with insight), what is your take on the Theophany in Exodus 34? (forgive me if you've already addressed this elsewhere). I'm currently of the mind that when "the LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD", that this was the Angel of the LORD. There are a number of reasons that I believe this, one powerful reason is that in the preceding chapter (33) at the Tent of Meeting "when Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the entrance of the tent, and the Lord[a] would speak with Moses." It then goes on to say in v. 11 (foreshadowing what is to come in Ch. 34) "Thus the LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend." Then just a few verses later, "Moses said, 'Please show me your glory.' And He said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The Lord.’ And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. But,” He said, “you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.” So then my question is this, does it seem to be the case that The Angel of the LORD is the one who "descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD", precipitating the unveiling of the Father's (albeit His back) glory? Who then "passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious..."?
I do agree with you sir Mike, the Angel of the Lord in the old testament is really Jesus, why did I say so,well look at this Bible verse Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight-why the bush does not burn up.” When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.” “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” Then he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God. The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey -the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain. ” Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’” God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers -the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob -has sent me to you.’ “This is my name forever, the name you shall call Exodus 3:12-14 If you could read one of the things you could say is that this Angel of The bush was called God by the author..
@JERUSALEM TENORIO We find instances of angels speaking, acting, and being treated as if they were God because they are God's agents. Hence why they are called God's "messengers" מַלְאָכִים֙ (malakim). Even Moses calls himself YHVH God in Deuteronomy 29:6 speaking as God as God's messenger.
The Principle of Agency that you talk about around 45:20 reminded me of medieval "proxy marriages", where a king or prince is marrying some princess in another land, but he can't take the time out to leave his land, so he sends a proxy. The marriage ceremony is performed and treaties ratified with the proxy (usually a nobleman) standing in for the groom. I read once there was even a symbolic "consummation" where the bride laid on a bed and the proxy knelt over her and parted her legs with his knee (and that was all!). Then her family would let her travel to meet her actual husband and do the actual deed, because legally, it was done already! Crucially, while the proxy could act in a legal way on behalf of the one who sent him, he didn't have any of the legal rights (like the right to bed the woman or take her dowry) as the one who sent him. If the Angel of the Lord is meant to be a mere proxy, then he couldn't accept offerings on the Lord's behalf, only deliver messages and make speeches. Of course, Medieval law and Biblical realities are not a perfect match, but it's important to ask, when we see the Angel of the Lord, is he merely acting for God, or does He also accept offerings and worship and the other rights of God? We don't see Archangel Michael devouring offerings with fire, for instance, but the Angel of the Lord does.
I just started watching your video but I feel that I might have the answer to if it is an Angel or if it was Jesus that was speaking. Now if you disagree please let me know. The angel is Gabriel, God messenger which he is mention in the New testament. When God gives Gabriel/The Angel a message to give, he say's exactly what God tells him to say, word for word in his massage and does not deviate from God's Word. The reason I say that the angel will start off by saying I the Lord, but then later in the scriptures will let you know he is not the Lord, giving you context that he speaks what God tells him to say. So if God tells him go give this Word/massage, I the Lord is going to bring you a pizza, the Angels not going to say well God told me to tell you he's going to bring you a pizza. He's going to tell you exactly what God told him to say, "I the Lord is going to bring you a pizza" If God tells us to not add anyting to his word or to change his word, why would an angel deviate from what God tells him to say in his own words? The angel is going to repeat exactly what God Said and how he said it, he's not going to deviate from what God told him which is his word. I also think God wouldn't reduce is Son Jesus Christ as Angel. In the Old testament and New testament the angels where used to assist God/Jesus to fulfill the prophecy in many ways. Like when Jesus was tempted by Satan and after words the angels came and minister to him. Even after the prophecy was fulfilled Jesus sent out his angel to assist him in giving massages, like when Gabriel came to Paul gave him the message from God, and when Paul did not believe was made blind due to his unbelieve. If anybody would like to have a friendly conversation in regards to this I'll be happy to have one why I believe it to be Gabriel who was speaking in the Old testament and I will give you some biblical scriptures to back it up but I just came to this chat real quick while listening to this video. Stay bold and strong faith, Praise the Lord✌🏿&🤟🏿
Could it be that angels act like cell phones (ridiculous analogy I know) in the sense that God uses them to speak through to people on earth while He is in heaven? In other words, if you called me you wouldn't say you were talking to a cell phone, you'd say you were talking to me, which is why angels can appear to people and people can speak to God, and have conversations that aren't just pre-recorded messages from God. Reread Exodus 3 with my theory in mind and let me know what you think. When you get to verse 6, when Moses was afraid to look at God, maybe it was out of caution. Since he was speaking to God through the angel, he might have mistakenly thought the angel was God, so as a precaution he hid his face so he wouldn't die. ✌️
Regarding the last question/concern you talk about pastor Mike, the passage where Jesus says "glorify Me with the glory I had with You before the world was" fits right in. In His completely glory no one would have been able to see Jesus either. But it would seen that Jesus in some sense emptied Himself at creation and empties Himself further when He clothes Himself with flesh. I stumbled onto this a few weeks and have been studying it and looking into all the occurrences of H4397 - mălʼâk. I was curious what other people say about it and when I searched it up on TH-cam, ofcourse one of my favourite TH-cam teachers speaks extensively on it!
About Jesus coming in human form being incarnate- I think when he came as the Angel in human form , he still had the Glory that he shared with God , but when he was born from a virgin he came without his glory until he conquered death where he than ask the Father to give him back his glory. That would be my explanation. Enjoyed the teaching , great topic.
Forgive me if I am wrong on this but for me anytime anyone encounters and physically sees God (in any form) in the bible it must be Jesus. Why do I say this because...once again I believe to be correct in this... God has clearly told us no human can see him and continue living (breathing on earth). By the way thanks Mike I feel blessed by this series. All praise and glory to God
Mike I know you are busy, but would you pray for my lower back. The tail bone to be exac. My name is Rex. Thank you. And thank you for bringing out Jesus in the old testament so clearly.
Once i got on the king james version, i read through it before any other translation. I went from niv to esv to kjv. I feel safest reading the KJV. I personally think it's beginner friendly if you love the Bible. Besides that, Jesus appearing in the old testament is vividly obvious, but few would see. I think Daniel only told us as much as he thought we could understand before the abomination of desolation. Just like Jesus only opened their eyes to scripture after his resurrection.
From my comment on the other video about my church. I attend an esv church, but I read KJV. I didn't switch to a kjv only church. This I'm sure is a relevant detail.
Jesus is all over the old testament, in fact He's the God of it. Isaiah 35:4-6 Isaiah said God was coming, and when He did He would open the eyes of the blind, heal the lame deaf and dumb, can't deny Jesus did all this and more. And since there is only one God then only one God could come.
Thank you Mike, Great teaching!! I see the Angel of the Lord as God in angelic form, since Jesus is God, of course at times when the Angel of the Lord would appear of course Jesus would be present. God Bless, I enjoy your videos!!
A great study. I believe the Angel of the Lord (YHWH) is Jesus and OT shows us that. Jesus is both God and YHWH who is part of Elohim. Elohim is One yet three as OT reveals.
The Lord had spoken to me concerning this too. I had prayed and asked for this revelation and the answer i received was that Jesus is God that dwells within His creation. Thats why it can refer to Jesus as both an Angel and a man (Jesus).
I think it's also important to note: We as humans, look at time as Linear, but time isn't necessarily linear. If Jesus was born in 4BCE, and time does not exist, he can potentially appear in any time period - if you think Quantum theory anyway. Think of ourselves as neutrons and different times as electrons - imagine if we can pop into those orbits. Just a thought. But.. God's ways and thoughts are higher than ours so we will probably not understand until we die 😂 Awesome teaching! I really enjoy watching your videos! Most I've watched repeatedly.
I was thinking something similar along these lines... if God is the creator of space and time, and as such did and can exist eternally outside space and time, it's not altogether impossible that God the Son in the person of Jesus could have appeared in the past (before his incarnation) as well as present and future. I'm not saying that he DID do so, just that it's not outside the realm of possibility for him to have done so. In any case, it does seem abundantly clear that God the Son did appear to people prior to his incarnation as Jesus and was worshipped by them, which no angel of God would allow them to do* (I say angel of God in this case, because ungodly angels such as Satan are more than fine with receiving worship due to God alone). It also produces great hope and joy to realize that the Savior was working everything in history towards Himself and with our salvation in mind 💖.
Mike, I loved the image of the LORD ascending in the sacrifice in Judges 13:20. it reminds me of Rev 5:6's image of how Jesus reigns. It also reminds me of Elijah on Mount Carmel. And it reminds me of what Jesus said to look for in Luke 24:26 = "His suffering and glory." Thanks for keeping Jesus central! The TaNaK exists because as Romans 11:36 says, all things are out from, through and unto Him. Why do so many people resist? Life Portals: How They Learned Him touches on these things - not only the OT Jesus pictures, but why people resist.
It is also coming to me that in Biblical times, the spirit of someone might be called their Angel. Remember when Peter was released from prison by an Angel, but then he, in the flesh, went to the house where some disciples were, Mary I believe but may have been another lady, opened the door and ran back and said “Peter is here at the door!” But some didn’t believe her, thinking instead that it was Peter’s Angel or some translations say Peter’s ghost. So perhaps when the text says the “Angel” of the Lord, and a sentence or two later days Yahweh, could it mean that they referred to the Spirit of God as the Angel of the Lord? Thank you for studying all this, I have been praying for clarification for some time.
Great series! You may cover this mike but one thing that helped me to leave oneness Pentecostal theology (modalism) is the question: if no man has seen the father but the son exegetes him, who then is Isaiah seeing in Isaiah chapter 6? I didn’t have an answer, and then I realized that we don’t have to guess because John and Jesus confirmed it was Jesus in John 12. In John 12 Jesus explained that he is the son of man in Daniel 7 as well as the vision that Isaiah saw in Isa 6.
As a former Muslim, studying these evidence, the trinity now makes perfect sense. God uses the Angel of the lord and his spirit to reveal himself and his words. Jesus is God.
@ Evin Afurالبحث عن الحقيقة
The trinity does not make sense.
@@faithreasons3041 1. Calm down, just focus on the evidence, then carefully make your conclusion.
2. Judeo-Christianity believes All Humans have (1) Body and (1) Soul. They are different yet identically the same as one.
God is greater than humans, surely he can be 3 into 1. God can do anything he wills.
3. Where are the essence of God found in the bible???? Here are only a few verses from Torah:
Genesis 1:2
"The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the SPIRIT OF GOD was hovering over the face of the waters."
The holy spirit is also mentioned throughout the old Testament:
Genesis 1:1-2
Deuteronomy 30:14
Psalm 104:30
2 Samuel 23:2
Isaiah 59:21
Job 33:4
Micah 3:8
Numbers 27:12-23, 27:18
Judges 3:10
Etc etc etc etc etc etc etc..
4. Jesus is human born ( messiah) and his spirit is God:
Isaiah 9:6 " Isaiah 9:6
"For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a SON is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty GOD, ETERNAL FATHER, Prince of Peace."
5. Jesus says he is Lord. Others also claim he is Lord:
John 4:25-26
" The woman said to Him, “I know that the messiah ( the Eternal Father, Mighty God, Born Son, as read in Isaiah 9:6) is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He. ”
John 13:13 Jesus said "You call Me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’; and you are correct, for so I am."
1 john 5:7
"For there are THREE that bear witness in heaven: the FATHER, the WORD, and the HOLY SPIRIT; and these THREE are ONE".
John 17:11 Jesus said “I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, watch over them on account of your own name, which YOU have given ME, so that they may be one just as WE ARE ONE."
John 20:28
"Thomas said to him, "My Lord and MY GOD!"
John 5:32 Jesus said " so that all may honor the Son JUST AS they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him"
john 10:30 Jesus said " I and the Father are one.”
John 14: 8-15.
"Philip said to him: “Lord, show us the FATHER, and it is enough for us.”
Jesus said to him: “Even after I have been with you men for such a long time, Philip, have you not come to know ME? Whoever has seen ME has seen the FATHER also."
Colossians 1:19 "because GOD was pleased to have ALL FULLNESS TO DWELL IN HIM".
Matthew 28:19
Jesus said to his disciples "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
6. The trinity is revealed:
1 john 5:7
"For there are THREE that bear witness in heaven: the FATHER, the WORD, and the HOLY SPIRIT; and these THREE are ONE".
The "Godhead " is another word for the trinity, read
Colossians 1:19 and
Romans 1:20
Between the Torah and the Gospel, we read about 1 God, 1 Holy spirit and 1 messiah.
Trinity = three in unity
I love how God can choose to be ambiguous in His Word. Really good stuff. The Bible is so vast there is a lifetime of learning there to discover. I'm still learning new things that are just as exciting as when l first got saved.
@@evinafur4797 such a great and thorough response! Thanks for sharing 👍
@@faithreasons3041 So true. There is only one God.
Jesus is not in the old testament.
@@bryanlovesjesus2204 I know a verse that says that there is only one God, not three. Jesus is the way to the Father, He is not the Father. The Son of God is not God. He is Jesus. The Holy Spirit is not God, he is the empowerer.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.

This is one of my favorite Bible-study topics ever. I studied all of this out about 15 years ago and it was life-changing, even though I had been a Christian for 15 years at that time. Wonderful!
Man oh man oh man! I am reading 5 different books rn on Jesus. Including the bible starting from Genesis and 2 giant Commentaries on OT and NT. Mr Winger's teachings have helped me to put so much together, and I feel so grateful for all the wonderful ways that GOD Works through people like Mr Winger.. GOD IS SO GREAT!!! 🙏💗
Amazing topic. 😊😊 I binge watch your videos. Way better than netflix. 😁😁 You are included in my prayers pastor Mike. God bless!

I had a dream, last year November, don't know whether to say a dream or vision, but I had the Holy Spirit giving me answers to my problems, and I heard a voice a Man, and but at the same time, something told me that He's the Holy Spirit,
but as He was talking to me, He told me that "I see you are stirring at where I Am (as in looking at where the voice was coming from ) and you are not supposed to See Me," it can be the end of me,meaning die.
Always acknowledging the counter argument love ur preaching. Praise the Lord
One of the best lessons i came up on, great video.
Thank you for the honest way in which you handle Scripture. May the Lord continue to give you insight in His Word.
Michael Heiser did a big study on this as well. Thanks for putting another slant on this Mike W.

God says to Moses to tell the people 'I Am' (as his name) sent you 20:55
God later says to Moses obey the Angel for my name (read I Am) is in him 23:00
Yeshua says "Before Abraham was, I am" 41:14
Thank you Pastor Mike for your explanation. It seems that I Am is put forward as a declaration for God, Jesus and the Angel of the Lord as the same being in the Bible. This will help me understand the OT better now.
The Bible's depth is just fascinating
Thank you Pastor Mike!!!. I am so in love with the Scriptures after watching this video ❤ God keep you safe and healthy 🙏
This was an awesome video :D Can't wait for the next one
Thank you, I was reading the whole old test and always new Jesus was the angel of the Lord.
Jesus is more superior than angels because:
1. He is the Son - angels have no such relationship with God.
2. He is worshipped by angels
3. He have throne - angels don't have thrones
4. He is God
5. He created the heaven and earth - angels aren't involved in the creation of heaven and earth
6. He live forever
From this text, we know that Jesus is God.
Malachi 3:1
I (GOD) wil send a messenger before ME (GOD) amd sudenly He (The Lord, Messiah) who you await wil come to HIS TEMPLE(GOD'S TEMPLE) and the messenger (Angel in Hebrew) .
*HEBREWS 1:3*
"The Son is the radiance of YHWH's glory and the exact representation of YHWH's being, sustaining all things by YHWH's powerful logos. After he had accomplished the cleansing for sins, he sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high,
"
"exact representation" means an image or copy of the original, but not the original. Here the representation is in the human form of "the man Christ Jesus" 1 Timothy 2:5.
*HEBREWS 1:4
*
"so he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs."
Jesus became superior to angels which means at one time he was not superior to angels. If he was not superior to angels before becoming superior to angels, then how could he preexist in Heaven as a deity?
*HEBREWS 1:5*
"For to which of the angels did YHWH ever say, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father"? Or again, "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son"?"
These verses cannot be used as proof that Jesus is YHWH.
*Hebrews 2:9*
"But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of YHWH he might taste death for everyone."
Clearly Jesus died for our sins. YHWH cannot die, therefore Jesus is not YHWH.
*HEBREWS 1:6-7*
"When YHWH brings His firstborn into the world, He says, "Let all My angels worship him. In speaking of the angels He says, "I make My angels spirits, and My servants flames of fire."
YHWH's firstborn is Jesus.
@@edmundrussell6044 I returned to the page and read my initial comment that you responded to. After reading my comment again I cannot believe you had the nerve to suggest what you did. What makes you think I don't know the Bible or that I haven't truly studied it and prayed? How did you come to the conclusion I need your advice? Read my comment again and if you think I am wrong....PROVE IT from the Bible and keep your back handed personal attacks to yourself.
Is 56 years and over 80,000 hours of TRUE Bible study and prayer enough? Not for me...I still keep on praying and studying. How about you? What have you got? A few hundred hours of study? You don't qualify to teach me the Bible unless you have studied it for many thousands of hours. If you think you can learn the Bible in a few hundred hours....or even a few thousand hours....then you are full of pride and arrogance.
You are confused. You don't know what it means to come in the name of the Lord. Hint...many people and angels came in the name of the Lord....and that does not make any of them the LORD God ADONAI YHWH.
Jesus came in the name of the LORD....and that does not mean Jesus name is YHWH.
The Angel of the Lord is Gabriel and Gabriel instructed Mary what she should name the Messiah.....and that name is not YHWH.
Bible study and prayer brought me to accept these scriptures below.....Why don't you accept them at face value? They are self evident in their meaning and don't need any special training to understand them.

You want Truth? Here is truth for you.
If Jesus is God, then everything that is true for Jesus is true for God. This leads to a string of reductio ad absurdum conclusions.
Examples of absurdities:
Since Jesus is God and Jesus is begotten, that means trinitarians claim that God is begotten.
Since Jesus is born of Mary, so God must be born of Mary;
Since Jesus has wound in his side, so God has exactly the same wound.
Since Jesus died for our sins, then God died for our sins.
Since Jesus did not speak his own words, that would mean God doesn't speak his own words either.
Clearly the above examples are absurdities. They prove Jesus is not God the Son, he is the Son of God.
But since I know that's not enough for you think headed stiff necked Pharisees and hypocrites I have more for you.

Their meaning is self evident on the face of them. Your ambiguous texts MUST be interpreted to harmonize with these unambiguous verse....not the other way around.
Excellent video brother, you have a great ministry
This is so good!! This is something i have wondered about for quite a while now, and i wasnt sure if i would find this kind of explanation anywhere.... Thank you so much!!!!

38:15 I love how HE constantly is revealing HIS characteristics through HIS NAMES.
Very simple. In the old testament the Son came down in the form of an angel and in the new testament, the Son came down in the form of a man. Doesn't mean that the Angel and the man physically looked alike( because in the OT Jesus had not been born yet) but, they had the same personal Spirit. 😊
Yes indeed, very simple!
He was flesh already because he walked with Adam... And plus his God
I just want to make it clear, Jesus was not created
100% agree that Jesus is not an angel, but appeared as a angel in the OT. Also that He appears as Michael. (Again he's not an angel) I attend the SDA church. One of the reasons we are called a cult, is because we think Jesus appears as a Angel in the OT.
@@jvdm7195 where in the Bible does it say that Jesus appeared as Michael?
He was the Angel of the Lord
My favorite bible verse that I see as a reference to the angel of the Lord is Genesis 3:8 "and the heard the voice of the LORD walking". Voices don't walk. God's voice does
Wonderful lesson Mike, Thank You and God Bless:)

Amen. I am in love with the Lord and His mighty works. 😍❤️😍

Who was the man who wrestled with Jacob and how does Jacob know to ask for a blessing if what he saw was only a man (not an angel or jin, or demon), then later said, "“I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been preserved?"
In the KJV Micah 5:2 isn't so controversial as the Person coming forth out of Judah is from "everlasting".
THE ATHANASIAN CREED
Whosoever will be saved; before all things it is necessary that he hold the Catholic faith. Which faith except every one do keep -- whole and undefiled: without doubt he shall perish everlastingly. And the Catholic faith is this:
That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity; Neither confounding the Persons: nor dividing the Substance.
And, it goes on to say:
And in this Trinity none is afore, or after another: none is greater, or less than another: But the whole three Persons are co-eternal together: and co-equal.
@@johnspartan98 watch Mike's video on the Trinity.
*John 8: 58 "Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am."
If you look at the name God gave to Moses, he called himself "YHWH" (Yahweh) which means I AM. Here in this verse above, Jesus calls himself I AM. Did you catch that? Jesus just called himself YHWH (Yahweh)
Jesus is both God and, the son of God!
*John 1: 1 "In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, AND, the word was God."
*John 1: 14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
The word was made flesh? How can letters be made flesh or walk among us? It's because the word is describing Jesus Christ. Jesus is the word of God.
The word of the Father IS the son.
God became flesh. God became human.
This is why the Son of God is also God. Jesus is the very image of God in the flesh. Jesus and his Father look like twins except, the Father is taller. They have the same face. The Holy Spirit is also God because he is the Spirit of God.
*Colossians 1: 15 "The son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation."
*Hebrews 1: 3 "The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high."
*John 12: 45 "And whoever sees me, sees the one who sent me."
Jesus is the expression of his Father in human form.
That is why Jesus says to Philip in *John 14: 8-9, in his response of Philips question, "show us the Father"; "Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?"
The Father is inside Jesus and Jesus is inside his Father.
Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake."John 14: 10-11
*John 1: 18
"No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is Himself God and is at the Father's side, has made Him known."
*John 8: 19 "Where is Your Father?” they asked Him. “You do not know Me or My Father,” Jesus answered. If you knew Me, you would know My Father as well.
*John 10: 30 "I and my Father are one."
*1st John 2: 23 "Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; whoever confesses the Son has the Father as well."

This is a SUMMARY: John 1:1-2; and 1:14
based on thousands of hours of research. If you want a more complete view with all my reference verses please ask.
*In verse 2 "he" and "him" are mistranslations.*
The word of God is an "it" not a he or a him.
That's why the KJV has verse 2 translated:
*_the same was in the beginning with God._*
Verse 2 is a repeat of what is stated in verse 1. John obviously wanted to convey to the reader that the word of God is with God because the word is God's attribute and possession, not a person.
People assume that John 1:14 is properly translated as follows:
*_"and the word became flesh and dwelt among us..."_* However, this leads people to conclude the word became Jesus and therefore Jesus must be the word in John 1:1 which makes him God. This conflicts with the Bible because Jesus was begotten and born, while God is not a begotten or born being. God is a spirit. Jesus was flesh, blood and bones like the rest of us.
After many thousands of hours of study God led me to discover John's intended message.
*John 1:1*
*~in the beginning~* Refers to the beginning of this present NT dispensation....not the Genesis creation.
*John 1:14
* (the correct translation of Greek to English)
*~and the word came to humanity and dwelt in us...~*
The word did not become the flesh of Jesus. *"became" is a mistranslation because it conflicts with the Bible.*
Luke 3:2 translates the same word "egeneto" as "came to." Several other scriptures describe the word of God as coming to people and dwelling in people.
Now, back for John 8:58 You should copy and paste the following to a file as well:
The Greek text, and a proper contextual analysis, proves John 8:58 is mistranslation. Jesus did not claim the name of GOD that was given to Moses in Exodus 3:14 and Jesus did not claim to exist before Abraham.
*BIBLICAL PROOF*
The Hebrew and Greek scriptures do not translate John 8:58 as "I AM"
John 8:58 uses "ego eimi." meaning "I am he" without the uppercase letters.
"I AM" Is a MISTRANSLATION and leads people to make a wrong conclusion.
The Greek in John 8:58 is *ego eimi* and it is translated as :
“I am he”-Mark 13:6; Luke 21:8; John 13:19; John 18:5-8.
“It is I”-Matt. 14:27; Mark 6:50; John 6:20.
"I am not worthy" Matthew 3:11
"I am generous" Matthew 20:15
“I am the one I claim to be”-John 8:24 and 28
"I am he" (ego eimi) who (ho) you are speaking to - John 4:26
If Jesus was claiming to be God in John 8:58 we would see the Hebrew words:
*"ehyeh asher ehyeh"* which is translated to Greek as: *"esomai hos esomai"* with some manuscripts rendering it as *"ego eimi ho on."*
These phrases translate to English as follows:
*"I will be who I will be"* with some English Bibles having it as *"I AM"* These are not what we see in John 8:58.
Most English translations supply the word “he” to render the Greek to English properly "I am he", which is the correct translation for "ego eimi."
The entire context for John 8:58 is centered around the Pharisees not believing Jesus is the Messiah.
In John 4:25, the woman at the well says to Jesus,
“I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called the Christ); when that one comes, he will declare all things to us.” In verse 26, Jesus says to her, "I who speak to you am he' (ego eimi) - (I am he: the Messiah).

Spot on, it surprises me how so many people don't understand this. They get all caught up in the Trinity; the Trinity was not understood in the OT culture.

Mike what translation do you primarily use? Thanks for all your hard work!
The person is the angel of the Lord! He is being used by God
Don't make this too complicated.
Kimberly Wright thank u Jesus is God period not an angel and definitely not author of confusion
Were you referencing the book "Two Powers in Heaven"? or is there another source that talks about the second Yahwe?
Yeah hes certainly using the language of Segals book, however the term is a talmudic term. The angel of the Lord was sometimes called the lesser YHWH
You and dr brown really make the case for the trinity waaay more clear
Pastor Mike, don't forget the word used for one in the Shema is also used to describe unity. Echad is used instead of yachid.
I have been studying the angel of the Lord because I was reading in Revelation 22 about John who keeps trying to worship this angel and the angel keeps telling him not to worship him but then goes on to say he is the angel of Jesus.
I recently noticed that same scripture and wondered if it was the trinity
I do agree with you sir Mike, the Angel of the Lord in the old testament is really Jesus, why did I say so,well look at this Bible verse
Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’” God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers -the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob -has sent me to you.’ “This is my name forever, the name you shall call

If you could read one of the things you could say is that this Angel of The bush was called God by the author..

I really love this video!!! Can I post this video in my channel???
He's going to tell you exactly what God told him to say, "I the Lord is going to bring you a pizza"
If God tells us to not add anyting to his word or to change his word, why would an angel deviate from what God tells him to say in his own words?
Hebrews 2:2 also mentions speaking "through" angels
Watched this as a palate cleanser, after listening to a 'oneness' individual, you've given me a few good ideas about how to respond.
Hi! I love following your studies. Do you have any videos about the book of Job?
Thank you Mike, Great teaching!! I see the Angel of the Lord as God in angelic form, since Jesus is God, of course at times when the Angel of the Lord would appear of course Jesus would be present. God Bless, I enjoy your videos!!
This 5 year old video continues to bless. 🙌🙏
A great study. I believe the Angel of the Lord (YHWH) is Jesus and OT shows us that. Jesus is both God and YHWH who is part of Elohim. Elohim is One yet three as OT reveals.
What depth, very provoking, thank you
So amazing. P.S. Was that use of the word chicanery a reference to Better Call Saul?
The Lord had spoken to me concerning this too. I had prayed and asked for this revelation and the answer i received was that Jesus is God that dwells within His creation. Thats why it can refer to Jesus as both an Angel and a man (Jesus).
Wow,what a blessing you are mike even a 5 year old can understand this, thank you so much
I think it's also important to note: We as humans, look at time as Linear, but time isn't necessarily linear. If Jesus was born in 4BCE, and time does not exist, he can potentially appear in any time period - if you think Quantum theory anyway. Think of ourselves as neutrons and different times as electrons - imagine if we can pop into those orbits. Just a thought.
But.. God's ways and thoughts are higher than ours so we will probably not understand until we die 😂
Awesome teaching!
Very. Nice study! Thank you, from a reformed Christian. 😎💯👍💯✝️❤️
