I’ve been to NYC three times. First time I stayed at an Airbnb in New Jersey. Second time was an Airbnb in Brooklyn. Third time I stayed at a hotel two blocks from Times Square. Third time was my favorite stay. It was easily my favorite accommodation. It also was similarly priced. I loved that everything was within walking distance and that it didn’t take 30 to 45 minutes to get to where I wanted to go. I would 100% stay in a hotel in that location again.

Thank you for this video. The tips are very helpful for planning a [rare] trip to NYC. You should note that *Summit tickets are non-refundable,* regardless of weather/viewing conditions. They *cannot be booked on TripAdvisor,* unlike tickets for the Empire State Building (most popular and most expensive), Top of the Rock and One World Observatory. Booking on TripAdvisor, you can reserve tickets first at no charge and pay (or cancel for free) as late as the day before the reserved date. *All* of these observation decks are pricey for a couple or a family on a budget, so I would stick with just one of them per trip.

It was a great time cause we lived here in PA. But would visit NYC as well as puerto rico cause we're puerto rican. A different great diverse way of growing up. I still go to Fordham rd in the bronx to shop. Haven't been there since covid tho, last trip to NYC was November 2019. I visited the Summit OV last week and it would have been a great experience if it hadn't been so incredibly crowded. You see the TH-camrs' review of the observatory and everything is so empty and for you.... But my experience was different. You have to wait at least 45 minutes in a basement just to get into the elevators. Then you visit the different observation rooms with a million other people. You have to stand in line for about 10 minutes to have your picture taken on the glass balcony. The room with the balloons is crowded and many of the balloons are punctured. The bar is completely full so you don't even want to spend some time there relaxing a little bit drinking something. It was just my experience. If you are lucky and go up any day with a lot less people, maybe the experience would be more enjoyable.

Just got back. I would say to New comers, be prepared for the noise, the City never sleeps. Be prepared to walk miles. The city is dirty, with trash and litter everywhere. Weed is now legal, the city stinks of it. There are lots of strange people with mental issues and people begging on the streets. The place is rammed and overcrowded. But, don't let that put you off, it's a magical place this time of year.

I've been to the Edge twice now, and my only issue is that it's a bit of an obstructed view on that glass floor. The rest of the view is insane.
I saw the snowplows/vehicles for the roof below the glass floor, but didn't really feel 1100 feet above the ground..without looking out of the area I was walking over. Those plows were obviously way lower...but it only "felt" like 6-700 ft compared to 1100.
I'm going to Summit soon and can't wait.
edit: Also I'm from right outside Philly...we aren't a borough like that, but glad to see you give respect to Philly. It's an absolute monster of a food city and has plenty of history.

Speaking of vaccine cards: the Met Opera will be requiring boosters after Jan 17 and the Public will be requiring negative tests (even if you are vaccinated) later in 2022 because of all the bway cancellations. I heard this may be a problem because a lot of the testing sites are running out of tests and/or long lines. I fear if other venues require testing nobody will go esp in the summer cause nobody wants to wait in long lines.

If you are staying long enough, a seven day Metrocard is better and you can go where you want. @7:51, that would be a no from me. The streets really close to Times Square are a heaving, noisey nightmare. Better to say in the 30's where it's quieter. @10:42, agreed. What you hear about on the news is not the everyday reality.

Now that my son lives in Brooklyn, he tells me not to go around alone in his neighborhood. He says I'm safer in Manhattan (I agree with him, since I know my way around Manhattan, but the only time I have been to Brooklyn was when I took him many years ago to the Jewish Children's Museum in Crown Heights). He said he would meet me at the train station, we would go around Manhattan (more Asian food choices there), then we would go back to his Brooklyn apartment.
I'll be honest. I'm a Pennsylvanian, but I am not too crazy about Philly. Although it was at night, one time my son and his friend ate at Morimoto and when they were going to the parking garage, there was this one (or two?) guy(s) watching them and waiting. My son's friend told him to go to the truck and then drive it where they will meet. Son didn't do it. He went to the truck and waited. Friend was blocked at the elevator door, I don't know how he made it around, but he got to the truck and was telling my son that he could have died there because my son didn't do as he said. Then when his friend visits NYC, they go to Omakase (son loves fatty tuna). Too expensive!!! 😠😡
Koreatown has H Mart, but it doesn't compare to H Mart in Ellicott City. Go to Edgewater NJ and you have Mitsuwa Marketplace (formerly Yaohan), which was a favorite of mine back when we lived in Wilkes-Barre. We'd always go there for Asian groceries and then walk across to the Kinokuniya Bookstore (in NYC, isn't the Kinokuniya by Bryant Park?)
It's sad that people can go only up to the crown of Liberty. Back in the late 1950's, my mother went up to the torch. At that time, she and my dad were doing residency at Goldwater Hospital in NYC. I remember at the Empire State Building in 1980, there was that nice Babe Ruth burger place. The burgers there were good.

The pastrami/corned beef sandwiches from our delis are great, but anyone visiting NYC should also check out the halal food scene. Street food is king in this city and I don't think you'll get better halal food anywhere else. Halal Guys is more of a tourist trap but you have better, slightly cheaper carts in Manhattan and Queens imo.

Jon, nicely done narrative. You definitely gave a thorough overview of the best sites and eateries to enjoy in the big apple. I'm gonna be honest with you, as a Floridian, I'm not a huge fan of the NYC Gov't apparatus, but you gave the straight scoop and I respect you for that. Keep up the good work. May 2022 bring prosperity to you and yours. Your friend Mike.

Luigi's got a 9.3 from El Presidente for a reason. Controversial opinion: Brooklyn is the most superior borough when it comes to pizza. Don't get me wrong, Manhattan slaps with spots like Patsy's, Bleecker Street Pizza, and Champion Pizza, and Queens has Pizza Sam, Nick's and Amore, but compare that to Lucali's, L&B, Di Fara and of course, Luigi's and the pizza game will be hard to argue

Riding subways to far away places or constantly riding them for short trips will make you sweat, it is hot down there and it stays on you. You should think twice booking an Airbnb with a share bathroom because you might have to take multiple showers during the day lol
