What makes this film stand out, among all the ww2 films of the 60s is the fact that they actually went out of thier way to make it look authentic,it was rare to see German tanks that looked German and not repainted American tanks,a true classic movie.
If you take the time to look at some of the German equipment at the beginning of the film, and some of the American equipment in the first half of the film,it is pretty accurate.
Summer 1970, queueing up around the block at the ABC Cinema in Edinburgh with my Dad to go & see this. Kelly's Heroes & Where Eagles dare are my two favorite movies of all time, I've lost count how many times I've watched them both in my lifetime. I'm 65 years old, and will still sit & watch both films at every opportunity. True classics imho which will still be enjoyed in many years to come. Warners, can you PLEASE release both of these films on 4k UHD? They were filmed in 70mm & would look awesome in a nice spruced up version with extras & commentaries.
I'd say it's pretty darn close to Accuracy. T-34 Dress up as Tigers that look pretty solid, Yugo k98ks and Yugo M53s. Original Helmets and Uniforms. The Mosin Nagant PU Sniper Rifle might be off but not out of the realm of possibility for this era.
My dad was a WW2 combat veteran. He absolutely loved this movie. The caper film that the troops pull off. The disdane for high command and officers in general. The fact they ride off into the sunset, rich men. We even bought him a copy of it on DVD and bought him a and he learned how to use it ( he never touched VCRs) tells you how much he loved this movie.
I got this brilliant, brilliant film on DVD 📀 the other week having not watched it in absolute years (I don't know why because if it's on the telly box I'll happily watch it!) and I watched it again and remembered why I love it so much and that's two words: Donald Sutherland. Oddball is quite simply one of the greatest movie characters ever and this film is full of great characters, but Oddball steals every scene (just watch the scene where he makes THAT phonecall! Woof woof woof springs to mind!). Oddball and Crapgame together is divine! We miss you Donald Sutherland, rest in peace and woof woof woof! #Oddball #Donaldsutherland
What I like in films like this, they give to the audience perception of the place where action is happening, I can see why ambush worked, where Germans come out from, where Americans hide, I can have some rough plan of the area in my head
When I was in the Corps back in the 70’s we were on board ship in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea when the XO got hold of the film and brought it up to the small admin office we had showed it to about 9 marines along with a tray of apple squares he stole from the officer’s mess Best time I ever had in the military
These heroes were heroic before my time, & yet my Dad made sure I discovered their heroism as soon as I could in '78. & so my Dad's my real hero! v's movie stars. ⭐👍
Great film that I can watch over and over again, which I do hope they make some more good films like this-the cast did make this film the film it is! 💪
Un film al di fuori degli schemi di quelli di guerra fatto apposta per far divertire e nello stesso tempo da far riflettere che le guerre servono solo per arricchirsi e questo film ha tutti i condimenti compreso gli attori eccezionali tutti capolavoro❤
There are two scenes (one in this clip) in the movie which I find touching. The first is at the mine field. Little Joe says to Big Joe "maybe they are only wounded." To which Big Joe replies "They are dead." Just before he leaves he turns to the field and looks through his binoculars one last time to make sure for himself. The second scene is how after all the insults that Crap Game gives Cowboy and Willard, when Crap Game is injured by the falling debris Cowboy and Willard run back to drag Crap Game to safety.
This is one of those films that have quotable lines: "Ah man! Don't hit me with those negative waves, so early in the morning. Think 'that bridge will be there', and it will be there. It's a mother beautiful bridge, and it's gonna be there, ok?"
As great as the leads are in Kelly's Heroes, the are some excellent character actors that make this ensemble work so well - Harry Dean Stanton, Stuart Margolin, Gavin Macleod, Len Lesser, Jeff Morris just to name a few.
I've lost count over how many times I've watched this movie. First time was in February 1974 at the Acapulco Princess Hotel in Mexico with my two brothers. Among the bits in the movie, one of my favorites is when Big Joe tells Babra (Barbara?) to pull the pin on the grenade.
Yes, it is a Mosin Nagant 1891/30. The scope reticle is wrong however. The scope that is mounted on the rifle is a 3.5 power PU scope. The proper reticle is a T type cross hair.
And the BAR firing from the window is a Belgium production with articulated dust cover. For a funny movie made in Yugoslavia, it's 'almost' right. Much better than serious movie with M47 "Tigers", I mean.
I love how it is so obvious the set team just piled stones on top of each other to create the walls the tanks goes through 😃 "Please god, dont f*ck u this take"
No. I do not think any Tigers survied the war. There weren't many made and they were hard to kill so they when they got hit they made sure they hit them hard and they stayed dead. They were also complicated and broke down a lot and were abandoned. I only know of one that exists today. I think a museum in Britian owns it. I belive they got it not working and restored it. It was used in the movie Fury.
@davvvvo - I do not claim to be a Tiger expert. I am only going by what I have heard filmakers say they went through to get a Tiger. They had to substitute something else and make it look like a Tiger because nobody had any they could borrow. Fury was the only movie I heard of that had a real Tiger and I always heard it was the only one in existence that ran and was borrowed from a British museum.
Very good job dudes and nicely well done!! Congratulations 993.63% yo throughout the 3rd sizzling patriotic hot week of said nice November y'all. Kelly's Heroes is an absolute classic, love this film so much.
The US sniper using a Russian Mosin-Nagant rifle is about the most inaccurate aspect in my book. Love the movie though. Don’t make them like it anymore!
What I don't get, why every German had worst aim accuracy in every film? Why they all die without killing a single actor in direct encounters in these films? How is this possible?
It is an American film. If you want to watch the Germans winning, watch a German film. Also, the star wars stormtroopers and the germans went to the same boot camp.
Heard at the shop: "Hey Jeff. I want you to haul out our best films and split 'em all up into 10 minutes pieces and then upload 'em up to that youftube thing, whatever. We'll get a million hits and make me a million bucks. Get started right after your complimentary breakfast tart and coffee.?

I originally thought they were real Tigers, but learned later they were Russian T-34's modified to look correct.
If you take the time to look at some of the German equipment at the beginning of the film, and some of the American equipment in the first half of the film,it is pretty accurate.
Definitely T34s - track, idler and drive sprockets dead give away.
They had to go to Yugoslavia at that time just to find working Shermans since most were sold off, scrapped, or used for target practice.

yes - absolute Classic ... nothing ever better ... many Stars but Oddball steals the show !!!

Accuracy or not, best WWII film ever

Fun to see Oddball and Don Rickles playing it straight and being total badasses!
Rickels still had his insult machine working!

No negative comments.. Oddball would be happy
Be great to see the outtakes. They, both sides, were having a ball

German Tank Sargeant: But you're the American Army Oddball: no baby, we ain't.
Another classic good movie to watch.
All the actors were great in this movie.
German Tiger is really a Russian T-34 with make up.
As a former tanker, I gotta live this move. Tigers were obviously Christie suspension but still bad ass
The anti magnetic paste was a nice touch.

Jesus. Crapgame and Willard cut down like three dozen guys with that 30 cal.
Classic all-star cast one of my favorites
This is such a great movie.
I fail to believe that guy would be still ringing that bell after all that.

Best Clint Eastwood ever. Outlaw Josey Wales was his second Best.
Always with the negative waves, Moritary, always with the negative waves!!
The sound track was superb. Not a low budget show at all.
What can I say more than what other have said. Great movie, great cast. Thank you! I'm with Bruce Walker on the classics, bring em on.
I visited the small village where it was shot in former Yugoslavia
hahaha i have the film on dvd.....and i love it😀😀😀😀😀
Outstanding movie
T-34s Mocked up as Tiger Is make good movie props.
Sacré Clint !👍😁
Best war movie ever made
great 👍 movie 🎬
I had to pause this@5:20. My Dad always thought this was one of the coolest scenes. " God Allmighty, you fellas smell like y'all fell in a dungheap."
Telly Savalas made this movie great.
Omg what a great movie.
My First War Movie. Seen in 1990 .Have I of DVD

the paint round from the tank? I don't get it.
Early in the movie, Oddball described his platoon of freaks, the loudspeaker, and some "paint rounds" they created to confuse the enemy.
It's a true story.
It's weird seeing this knowing Donald Sutherland is no longer with us... Forever mised
This was all shot in Yugoslavia 🎥
Today the locations are in Croatia.
My Top 5, easy.

Kind of one sided with the marksmanship and avoiding getting killed.
It's a movie dikhed.
7:00,7:11 Kelly fires the M2 Browning machine gun at the Nazi Tank Officer
