I used to go-kart for years indoors and started outdoors until I couldn't afford to go competitive in outdoor. I just bought a shifter kart today and my best advice would be to take wider driving lines don't try to cut in so close or so sharp. You should always try to position yourself to the outermost edge of the turn before you start turning so you glide through the corner since lets you keep more rolling speed through the turns, and you won't be jolting and kind of micromanaging the wheel as much. I also think you may need to brake a little bit harder on the straights before going into the turns, as well as thinking about optimum gears for certain turns. It really just comes down to time and practice but that's the best advice I can give you from my 8 yrs or so from experience karting since I was 13. I hope this helps and I will be just as slow as some of your old videos until I get the hang of shifting up and down so you're not alone there. I hope things are going well for you but you got this bro! Also watch the guy #522 (Black helmet) you were trailing for a while he would gap you after every turn hes hitting those corners the way you want to be hitting them!

Some advice I would give is to try to drive it smoother into the corner, meaning opening up your entry and turning in late to a late apex. Also, trying to keep your engine RPMs up and carrying a bit more speed may prevent the engine from bogging as well as increasing lap times. The most important thing to speed is smooth throttle/brake/steering inputs and consistency, and all of these things come from practice.

Way narrow on most of your turn entries. It doesn't look like you are focusing on where you want to exit. Look further ahead and plan the exit. Bogging every time on LongBeach. Swing wide on the entry to the Horseshoe with the preplan to stay in one gear with a nice constant push. Entry to Contino is too narrow, turn 6 should be 100% over the top of the curb next to the blue barrier. Entry to Silk is way early, narrow and slow. @6:36 was your best, you need to swing wider on the entry. Way narrow on Hairpin with your focus on blocking and not where to exit. This causes you to be slow through Scandi. This is notable at @8:31. #522 enters wide with focus on the exits and he drops you on the next four turns. Turns 12 and 13 should be one sweeping turn with the focus on a narrow exit on 13. This will give you a much straighter shot through Kimbrell and down the straight. On a busy day, it's easy to get caught up in wanting to go fast, instead of slowing down a bit and working on driver development. A good day for practice is the day after a big race. All the racers are gone and it's much less pressure. sorry if it's too much..

Slow is fast. It it feels slow, it’s probably fast. Don’t fight the machine so much. Carry on. :-)

Just a fun thing to do isn't it?...Well your getting better and it takes time. Try a few of these tid bits. You will learn more about corners... the line, brake points, apex etc. but I want to talk more about being smoother in the kart. As I am sure you have already figured out is that the power band is narrow and it only takes one gear off to bog it down but there is more. Rember what came on the kart isn't always what will work for you or the track you are on. I will give you a simple overlooked example. Your peddle springs. A quick note hear..Short track is way different than long so lets talk throttle first. What I have found is that when your bouncing around you will tend to let your foot flutter. Just listen to your vids. I personally like a really HEAVY spring for short tracks. This makes you dedicate your foot pressure forward and keeps your foot on the peddle tight. I also noticed your using just the smooth peddle itself. Get a set of peddle grips they really do work from keeping your foot sliding around! OK.. Just the same for brakes but I like even a heavier spring hear but for a different reason. That being when your bouncing around your foot is hitting the brakes more than you think. Not only that, it keeps you from stomping on the brakes to hard and bogging you down...then you have to shift to catch back up to the power band. Think about this one. Try and keep your foot on the gas (don't let up all the way! keep power to the engine) and brake at the same time going into a corner. Your brain says you have to let up on the gas and then brake right? No that is driving on the street in a car...your racing a kart here. Power is essential for perpetual forward motion. Don't overlook the amount of peddle throw on the brakes either. I like mine with a very short travel with a really heavy spring. This boils down to reaction time when you engage the pads to disk. Per portion valve setting is crucial hear. Give it a try you will see what I mean. Get multiple springs at you local hardware store then tweak them around.

With 2 Stroke Machines You Have To Keep Them With In The Powerband Range. I Notice That You Were 1 Gear Too High In Spots, That's Why It Was Slow On The Pick Up Speed On Some Corners. Great Video. It All Comes With Practice, Getting To Know What Gear You Need To Be In On Different Corners.. Also I Think U Was Changing Up Gears Too Fast. These Motors Love High RPM's. They Don't Like Low RPM's

Just keep the wheel as static as possible to get pick up on the inside rear. Keeping it mechanically sorted is a feat on its own, keep it up, great footage.

I think it’s important to note that shifters will turn best when shifting, so base your line on that and like others mentioned, stay tracked out. Good stuff man!

Oh and by the way...do you realize an F1 driver will exert up to over 300 pounds of brake force on the peddle with -4G's to slow for corners? Look it up...not joking.

I know everyone else is giving you tips on driving style, but also remember you might need to change setup a tad, maybe an inch wider or narrower at the front or at the rear, and maybe if you have weight put on the kart put it somewhere different and might make it feel better, but also might make it feel worse

wrong kart to start learning, sadly a very common mistake, these guys stay in the sport from 3 and 10 month, then vanish.
