@@aleksandersever3039 It's been a while, but I saw an interview about that topic. I'd have to look into it again. I think it was an interview with the chief of production from Mora. I found it also interesting as they use the same carbon steel as in their other blades while they didn't seem to have that much experience with 14C28N (most stainless Moras use 12C27). It did fairly well. I’d much rather that my knife bends, than snaps. I know now that if I don’t step on my Garberg, it should be pretty good. Awesome demo Joe. Now, you have the Garberg mini.😉
Awesome video/test! I have always liked the value you get with Mora knives. Yes the Garberg is a little more expensive, but you get a LOT of durability for a few extra bucks. It took more damage than knives that are 2 or 3 times as expensive. I say the money I spent for the Garberg is money well spent!
Niolox (T5) wouldn't be anywhere near as strong as the M5 or M7 as sleipner is a very tough 7% chrome tool steel. But Lionsteel makes great knives and good HT so the T5 should still be robust.
Morakniv companion HD took a way much more abuse than this Garberg... Just watch a JOE X video before 2 months where he test Companion HD 😉 You don't need to break your bank to have a fckng good and strong knife !
You are absolutely right my friend!!! That's what I been saying for years since got the Garberg in both carbon and stainless. Make a mora with a hand gard incorporated in the full tang construction. Can you imagine a 3/16 thick 4.5 to 5 inch mora survival knife. It would be the best knife in the world.
I ordered my stainless after seeing your video with that one… already had this one. Might order another bc I hate money and I think more of these can’t be a bad thing :)
Your tests really illustrate just how much better Mora's steel quality and heat treatment are than 99% of the other mainstream knife manufacturer's out there. This is a great reason to stock up on them while they are still cheap.
It's 1060 steel so it should do well. Be a good test. I have several of their other models. The sheaths are unbelievably nice for the money. I've bought extra sheaths to use for other knives.
Awesome video as always Joe! I just watched your reviews of the Garberg both in Carbon steel and in Stainless. It seems to me that they are very similar in performance. The Carbon steel seems a tiny bit softer with a little smaller chippings and a tad more bendy before snapping. The Stainless is only 60% of the price of the Carbon in Denmark though, so you convinced me to go with that instead!
That's 100% wrong. Both the stainless steels of Morakniv (12c27 and 14c28N) because of their amounts of Chrome and less Carbon than their Carbon steel, are both much softer. Also, Morakniv heat treats their Stainless at 56-58hrc ,when they heat treat their Carbon steel, at 58-60hrc. When it comes to blades and their rockwell hardness system, a 2 to 4 difference (56-58htc or 56-60hrc which is the range of Morakniv's steel's difference) might sound like a small difference, but it actually is not. 56hrc means the steel is soft, it won't hold an edge for long but it will have more toughness than harder steels. The edge of that blade will not chip, but it will roll easier, compared to how much Morakniv's Carbon steel will hold before it's edge chips. .Then 58 to 59 hrc, is usually the perfect hardness for a user friendly knife. That hardness means, that the blade will be both tough and strong, and generally, that's where a user is satisfied with the overall performance of a knife. Carbon steel they use, is 20C Shock Absorber(Sandvik) or UHB20C(Bohler-Uddeholm), it's the same steel with different name. If you find it called C100, is again the same steel. It's a similar steel to the more known 1095, however it's a cleaner steel, with very slightly better recipe which is obvious good news! That being said, even though their Stainless steels, on paper, are both tougher steels, in reality though, Carbon steels show better performance on every single aspect, except the carbides. Those carbides and that toughness, is what tricked you, believing that the stainless will have better edge stability. but as I said, in real use, the Carbon steel provides a more proper blade, for these kind of knives. they are preferable for both Scandi grinds, and for the indented use of these knives. The only real reason, to choose the stainless over the Carbon, is if you're really going to use this knife much, and what's the environment , that this knife is going to be used. (for example, by the ocean fishing? (get the Stainless steel), or in the woods trying your skills, using it as it was designed for? (Carbon steel is the way to go!))
Could you try a rust test on this steel? Maybe not a video, just leave it in a cup of your pond water for a day and post a picture? And please baton some of these factory edges through a non-hardened nail! A bit of advice - use something soft to baton with, like wooden club or suitable plastic mallet. You could test it out on some of your broken knives first, like your SR1 (S35vn), Voyager (AUS10a), etc.
So the difference is that stainless does quite a bit better on the tip, is highly corrosion resistant, and tends to be ~15% cheaper. Not sure about considering them equal, as respectable as the carbon is too overall. C'mon, give it to the carbon fanboys straight! Not that it is fair representation of the broader cheap stainless vs cheap carbon comparison given that the stainless in question for this is 14c28n and not 4116 or whatever unnamed "stainless" junk. What I really take away from this is how superior swedish steel and morakniv are in general. Despite being near enough to the same chemically, no 1095 would have come close to this at equal geometry.
The stainless is surprisingly impressive. I have both the carbon and the stainless. In reality though, you would need to test more than one of each knife (at least 3 of each, made at different times in the factory) under the same conditions to reach a conclusion on which is better. I actually prefer the Basic 511 or the Robust for most tasks and the Robust did amazing in his tests.
Can you test a Condor knife next? 1075 did a good job in the thin machetes. It would be interesting to compare the performance to the thicker blades like the HD Kukri...

@joex I'll save my money and stick with the garberg I think. I've had no issues with it 2 years, and I didn't like the way the jaakaripuukko handle seemed to loosen so easily. Thank you for your feedback
Pretty tough!
indeed!
Very good knife
yes!

the wasp did a destruction test on your neck .
While you were doing one on the car.
It is a bit funny.
A good way to ease that problem is to cut an onion in two halves.
The flat part of the onion you put onto the skin where the wasp stung, in a few minutes it's all 'neutralized'.
You're good.
thanks!"
@@joex
Speaking from experience.
"don't swat at a wasp, then it won't hurt you'.
No, wrong.
Wasps sting even if they are not provoked. The little aggressive fuckers.
They are like Putin .
alot of the nordic knives and axes use the same steel from the same factory its recycled,so i think its mostly a question of heatreat and how its grinded after that.
ok!
That Mora is a actually a tough little thing! “Bend the fucker back!”lol
of course!! haha!
That flex is amazing
yeah!
in compare with the gerber strongarm ,whitch one is tougher?
strongarm i would say!
When will the ontario knives videos be released? Great video once again.
thanks, soon!
Thanks for this vid🔪👍🏻
u are welcome!
Well that was impressive 👏 well built strong tough knife 🔪 even the handle faired well under your 9mm , but you did eventually destroy it so it joins it's brothers and sisters to knife 🔪 heaven, would I buy one hell yer , if it was not for your testing I would never of known how good this knife was so thank goodness for your channel, hail Joe hail Joe hail Joe ♥ 😀 😉 😊 😄 👍 ♥ 😀 😉 😊 😄 👍 ♥.
thanks margaret!
This is the 1st knife i was afraid would snap back from stump and stab you. Wow.
would be a nice vid!
Крепкий нож. Надо брать.🤝🇺🇦
thanks!
Can it be used for combat?
sure
Great Video, Great knife and price!
thanks!
Ok thanks pro Love Pro 🤣🤣
Great review again bro!!!....those little wasps are nasty little f..kers tho lol.....will buy one based on your honest knife brutality:-).
🤟🤟
Can you test muela knives ?
Not too many test on youtube with these knives !
Like jabali 17 or 21 .
i will check them out first!
Quality knife ,super abused 😭.man could you please test the COLD STEEL BUSHMAN BOWIE KNIFE?if not no problem, but i wanna see a real test ,not jokes, you do the real tests 👍
i will try!
Which is stronger, this knife or Mola robust?
Robust
I think that the scandi edge is not the best to support an agressive use. Good test and good video. Regards.
thanks!
Ad 6:51 I always knew you can make knives straight again xD
thanks, cool u believe in the "force" too!
Obviously none of this is real world use, and clearly not intended ti be, but it's definitely nice to know the strength or limitations of something your life may depend on.
awesome!
Would love to see a joker knife tested!
would be awesome!
Price really fluctuates on Amazon; I was watching them on Amazon to buy, and price was anywhere from $60 USD, to $94 mid-September…
still cheaper than in Europe!
Please, can you abort the Bend exam till the final, Do the beating on the pillar exam befor
i fight as i was trained!!!! it is what it is, sory!
The wasp was like crocodile Dundee....thats not a knife 😏 thats a knife ...Great post as always 👌
thanks my rogue sheep!
can you do a Condor terrasaur destruction test?
nope!
next knife jaktkit knv 2 :) from Sweden
never heard of it!
Crap.
I just bought this from Amazon early September, after seeing so many positive videos and reviews.
Guess I get to see how good my Knife is😮😬
this one is a good one!
Nice test. What about Gerlach WZ.98?
thanks, what about it?
i can not test all knives on this planet, NOT YET!!!
@@joex You do not need to do it. Now one asks you for it)
@@joex Just test. It's very famous knife, not as a Glock knife of course, but they both somewhat like brothers, especially by it's purpose. Also it's very cheap)
So if possible. We will be very, very appreciate for the test.
@@alextheshadow9922 👌
I hopes you can try my parang duku chandong from malaysia destruction test
ok, will try!
jakaripuko or garberg carbon whats performed better?
puko is thicker so you can not compare them so easy!
but if i have to choose one i woult go with the puko!
Very interesting!
LOOOOOOOOL!!!!! FLEXUS MAXIMUS
Marlboro!!!!!!
The wasp was saying "stop that bullshit 😅😅😅
who is she?
I know that they are very expensive but I believe that if you tried everything you can muster up, a Busse in infi steel would be the one knife to beat you. But seriously keep doing what you do brother 🍻 you have the best knife review channel on TH-cam.
thanks, busse are not available here!
That's terrible. They have existed for 30 years on a reputation of being indestructible. On their website they say that they have no competition on the market. From my personal experience with the one I have, I have to agree. But seeing as how you are the grim reaper of the knife world , I would love to see you do what you do with one.
@@chrisdegraaf8515 i will try to get one!😁
can you test the stainless one
i did, it is online!
Now if they could actually put a working wood edge on them they would be way better.
My carbon steel version came with a very screwed up edge .
I love Mora knives but that micro bevel they put on the Garberg is horrible. They do the bushcraft black just fine but not the Garberg.
ok cool!
As a Swede it is nice to see some high performance Swedish steel after the A1x debacle 😂
haha, yeah, i like swedish girls!!!
Hultafors GK carbon steel survived the entire test👍🏼
i know, i ve been there! haha!
"To be shure, one more time"😄
i am 100 % sure!
Another cool video ! 😁
I wonder what those people who stepped there said seeing a man who stabbs the shit out of the car 🤣
2 weeks ago 3 policemen were looking for me, some crazy old bitsch alarmed them, fucked up world!!! (true story)
@@joex Oh yes, i know what you say.
Those alarming bitches are everywhere, you must have gave her the fright of her life 🤣
thanks a lot bro✊
thanks a lot!!!
u are welcome!
Try out the bushcraft black!
did it, video in progress! also the pathfinder, in progress!!!

i think all scandis have weak tips, it's the grind that weakens them.
that said i think the knife did pretty well :-)
great testing as usual, joe!👍
it did pretty good i would say!
The Mora Companion HD and Pro Robust have a much stronger tip in the tip/blade bending test than the Becker's and ESEE's and also than many other more expensive brands.
The Garberg did also fine.
those mechanics gloves are junk. Use some rated A9 level cut resistant gloves. Great knife, tho
Jesteś zajebisty !
thanks!
Is that a Yugo ?
everybodoy is yugo!
be careful brother when you test knife like this way
yes!
wow joe this a amazing knife - for its size it has heart - if you just took it to the iron pole instead of joe stomping it - i think because the blade is so lite - it would have survived - still for a small thin knife it is to expensive
yeah, i was thinkin that too, after the test, but flex was at this moment more important than the iron rod!! survive? maybe!
no reason to use it over the companion, which is 1/4th of the price. They might not be full tang but people have driven them into trees and used them like ladders, lol...
@@escapetherace1943 mora does make a solid product - i have several of their knives
@@joex the knife was a spring - incredible
@@cassanoa yeah they're overrated, but good beaters
Mine had a easier life.
I just made a replacement button for a pouch with it.
cool!
