Mark Goldbridge brought up a good point. If it was a an average youth player for United who done this , then they would’ve been released immediately. However, because he was promising and is talented at football he has not been released already.
I’m glad he’s been so vocal because he has a large fanbase many of whom are impressionable kids. Viz & Niran have done a good job at covering it as well.
I've read the statement and I don't understand what is wrong with it? And don't get me wrong, Greenwood could never be excused as to why he did this if he did this but the statement was just a normal one?
I am a Man United fan. Thank you for this video. I am 100% with you. I don't want him anywhere near my team, and I will boo him wherever he goes. I feel disgusted and ashamed that this is my club :(
One thing I didn't say that I want to add. Not only is this utterly stupid and only will damage Man Utd's reputation and will bring ongoing abuse to the club and ruin the postive atmosphere. It also gives an awful example to kids in the academy that as long as you're good enough you can do whatever you want and still be accepted and pedestaled as a role model to people all over the world. It's utterly shameful that Manchester United have made such a simple decison to let him go so wrong. Give me your thoughts.
Anfield away he'll get ripped apart. Just so selfish from Manchester united and majority of fans won't even complain because its an extra attacker. Pathetic.
@@martykiely127 it’s already started, I was at United-Leeds as a neutral and the Leeds fans were chanting about him for half the train ride to the stadium
Ok let's get this straight. The moral failings of both Giggs and Rooney and being regarded as on the field legends has no bearing on Greenwood. He is a rapist and woman beater. I'm going to go as far as to say I personally hate Giggs and fail to see him in a positive light, whereas Rooney is just a prick who can't keep it in his pants but a legend regardless. There is a massive difference between cheating on your partner, and raping your partner.
I feel embarrassed and let down as a Manchester United fan the fans have not been consulted in the slightest on this as long as the sponsors don’t care the club don’t care what the fans think. If he were a crap player he’d have been dropped and playing National league football in the morning but because he has a monetary value ethics are forgotten disgusting.

The self-harm and posting on Insta accusing others is sadly starting to become very common thing among girls who seek easy wealth.
The statement reads like the club are dipping their toes in the water to gauge public reaction. You can bet their entire media team is vigilantly monitoring every form of social media right now to see what people will think if he did return. I hope they realise how awful it would be for him to return
Agreed. And they have already exposed themselves. "Erm....is it ok if let the rapist play on the wing?.... Yes yes we know but he was worth alot of money to us so maybe everyone could just kinda forget what happened please?"
Sadly it doesn't matter. At the end of the day, PR Team will present the feedback and the potential monetary value and his abilities as a footballer will tower over people's backlash and the owners won't care and play him eventually. The most heartbreaking thing is that if he performs, fans will forget about it, media will forget about his deeds... It'll be painful to see all of it for the sane folk.
The reality is that how disgusting man utd are for even considering allowing him to return. How out of touch they truly are. It’s always this “give him a second chance” bullshit, he’s lucky to have a second chance in LIFE since he isn’t behind bars right now. His second chance should be trying to salvage any sort of morality he has left to try to fix himself as a person, not to have the privilege of playing again for one of the biggest clubs in the world after he’s already messed up time and time again. Such a disgraceful stain on our clubs history.

I’m a united fan and I’m so disappointed with the club and pissed off that we’re actually letting him back. I didn’t think they would due to bad PR rather than the crime/morals… but the board/decision makers obviously don’t care about either since greenwood before did have value as, if this was an average player from the youth academy, they would be gone as they still see him as an asset. The whole situation is a mess…
This is even more serious now with a child. The partner May be suffering from a form of Stockholm syndrome. I mean the evidence that was available to the public was pretty damming, not the mention the “evidence that wasn’t available” according to the club. It makes me sick to the stomach that the club can just let him back like that. I mean at least with Joey Barton and Marlon King they actually went to prison.
I'm baffled how the police didn't do him for witness tampering. He allegedly breached bail conditions to contact her and had a child with her, making her testimony in court worthless because she isn't going to testify against the father of her child. I could of course be wrong but it looks like he's wielded his wealth and power to keep her with him and shut the case down.
I support greenwoods return from a sporting viewpoint. All i care about is football. I let the police and the club handle the off the field stuff. Just because I support his return doesnt mean i support crimes. I only care about football from a sporting element.
I clicked on the video so I knew what I was in for but 1. Greenwood is back with his gf so who are you defending? 2. Your making him unemployable 3. Leave football to football
The timing of this announcement is due to the squad numbers needing to be finalised before the transfer window closes on 2nd Sept, which makes it all the more sickening
The moment you say that you don't think Greenwood should stop playing football, the whole video is irrelevant. If he can still play football then why not Man Utd? I'm a Chelsea fan and I think there needs to be consequences. But if that consequence is not he stops playing football, then him playing at Man Utd as opposed to another club or even England should not matter

I’m a United fan for nearly 40 years and I agree with you 100 percent. I have always kept up with our youth teams, so was aware of Mason from a young age, the boy is a generational talent and I had very high hopes for him. The moment the audio & visuals came out, everything changed and I never wanted to see him in a United shirt again. For me it’s unforgivable behaviour, regardless of age or any mitigating circumstances. I was actually happy with the club for taking a moral high ground and immediately suspending him, unlike Arsenal who continued to play Partey, which is shameful. However, the meek, substance-less statement dropped today has undone any good the club had done up until now. I will say, from what I’ve seen online and on fan channels that the majority of fans who blindly support him are plastic, foreign fans who have never stepped foot in this country, mostly from cultures who have very different attitudes towards women. People can take that last statement however they want, it’s factual and I stand by it. Of course for balanced conversation sake, the flip side is the police dropped charges, his victim forgave him (or chose the money) she has birthed his child and there is an issue with statements like “other evidence has come to light” etc. That for me probably saves some form of career, yet as you rightly say it shouldn’t be for a club of United’s stature. I am still unsure of what they will ultimately decide, as the statement was so wishy-washy, I can only hope they will see sense and cut ties with him. I don’t use it as an excuse or opportunity to attack the Glazers but I can only speculate that another owner would of handled this much cleaner than they have. No matter what, myself and proper United fans do not want him playing for our club again, it’s that simple.

Well football has never been about ethics, that part of the game was lost decades ago through it becoming into a business. The World Cup workers abuse and deaths of thousands is just the biggest one but there have been all sorts of other cases of all sorts of types throughout the years in all areas of the sports. Hell I recall hearing the situation of academy students being abused in Africa for years and FIFA and clubs just turning a blind eye. My point being that as fans we can’t really do much about the lack of consideration morality has had in the world of Football and more specifically those in charge regardless of ranking It’s just sad that us fans support the game only for these type of things going in the background. It’s a solemn/depressing feeling supporting my club with such rich and inspiring history only for them to pull off something like this.
His girlfriend literally forgave him and he never was proven guilty, nobody cares whether you, randoms on the internet, want him to play or not. People with no lives always have to find someone to hate, and they'll always find a moral justification to abuse them.
These haters do not care about the facts, evidence, reason and logic. We live in a Western world that thinks it's socially acceptable to falsely accuse someone of SA.
As a United fan, I'm used to my club making bad decisions but holy fuck was this the absolute pinnacle of that. EVERYONE heard the audio, everyone's seen the transcript. You cannot let someone like that play for your club again - especially because you're the biggest team in England (brand-wise). What does that say about your club? What does that say to all of your fans who've veen victims of abuse similar to that of hie partner? What does it say to other young academy talents? It makes me sick to know that that the club don't seem to care about the ethics of it, and only care about the money. You just know that if he wasn't this "star boy" talented youngster they'd have made the right decision and got rid of him months ago. They can't have thought about how this will affect the squad and the manager too, right? EVERY week there'll be meria questions about it (rightfully so), chants about the player, verbal abuse online and in person. And we know for a fact (because its been reported several times) that some people in the United dressing room wouldn't be comfortable having him back. Such an abhorrently shameful and badly thought out decision.
First of all. I am not a united fan. Secondly What Mason Greenwood did is Awful and his girlfriend should have left him and he should have been charged. But not because a person is a public figure does mean we should just condemn them and never give them a chance to redeem themselves. If People change their behavior and the victim is ok with them re-entering. Then who are we to just condemn this young man. I was a part of the football industry for 2 years I worked with the management team of a star player. He was physically abusive to his wife but the matter was handled in therapy and nothing was ever leaked to the press. A lot of people hail him as a hero still to this day. Don't be so quick to condemn and write people off. This is why we have rehabilitation.
When you think about it, why would Mason and her partner still be together if she faked the photos and audio? Also Utd said that they care about her, but the fact the decision has taken this long disproves that and is a disgrace in itself even if they sack him. I hope their female employees protest, I hope their women's team dissolves, costing millions. I hope the club gets ridiculed, lose reputation and supporters and ruins the club forever.

They should have released him from his contract as soon as they could, anything other than absolute action sends the wrong message. We've all heard the recordings, there's no space for doubt.
You're the reason innocent men get publicly harassed and then lose their careers before and force of judiciary process. He's be cleared of all charges, that should be the end of it. Where you going after Mendy from day 1?
How can any Man United fan with mothers, sisters, nieces, daughters or goddaughters stomach this disgusting young man back, given the audio recordings of her saying ‘NO’ like it meant nothing to him, and treating her like a piece of meat, like his possession? How any of you can want him back just for a few points here or there. This club will scrape the gutter if it brings him back or places the decision on their women’s team because they are too gutless to make the decision themselves.
As a United fan, I really can't agree with you more. We're supposed to be setting the standards of this sport in this country. But I'd really like to bring people's attention to the fking Glazers and the Americans businessmen. They are destroying football if I may, everything is about money now, no loyalty appreciated, no moral valued. Just wait for football to become an "American sport" where they would pause every 20 seconds just to add in some more adverts. Besides, for me personally, I do believe in the police when it comes to anything related to crimes or the law. I know that there could be a lot of things happening behind the scene, but I prefer listening to the government who at least care about being responsible to the general public, over information on the internet that no one knows if it's real or A.I. generated.
Because he is a decent footballer and a young man that made a horrible mistake. Some people believe in second chances and some don't. I can see it from both sides. I would have rather we sold him and cut our losses.
The dude is not guilty by law, however there is wrongdoing. So how can we turn this negative past into a positive one? Firstly we must make sure this young man acknowledges his wrongdoings, but there should be ways were his salary is donated to similar causes, and he makes a positive income to others suffering similar experiences. Punishing him for life wont really do any good imo.
There's literal audio evidence, what do you think it's fake? Or done by AI? I understand if you want the player, not the person but if you want both then there's something wrong with you.

At least until he’s gone for good. He doesn’t deserve to even be thought of for a spot at Manchester United. And every single crowd he plays in front of will let him know.

What a pathetic world we live in, let him have a career… feel what you wanna feel about him, but let him have a career. You guys don’t want Mason Greenwood at Manchester United because he’s that good.
Innocent until proven guilty. It should not even be a question whether or not he can come back or not. It's the job of the justice system to decide who is and who is not guilty, not the club or people.
"It sets a bad precedent if you let him come back"
It sets a worse precedent if you don't.

The courts do not decide everything. Once the case was dropped due to witnesses no longer wanting to testify, this became an internal club matter, in which they are allowed to take action.
This case isn't (and shouldn't be) as simple as 'the case collapsed so he must be innocent, let's get him playing again'. It's not that cut and dry.

Bullshit. So you think Greenwood coming back will turn the rest of the squad into alleged rapists?

Crazy that a global club like Man U would put so little regard towards the club’s image bringing a well-hated player back to the team
Innocent until proven guilty. Should he never be able to earn a living because of trial by court of public opinion? I’m a United fan and I don’t “feel sick”. There are bigger issues in life than who a football club employs
I subscribed. You give me faith in Humanity. There's a lot of moral issues here, very disappointed in ManU....😔

If there’s evidence of any dismissible behavior, then get rid of him immediately. Otherwise not. Period.
As a woman and s fan of the game, I feel so bad for United fans but you guys deserve this.
Why do United fans deserve this? Very disrespectful to say imo
It's a subject that needs to be treated with the upmost respect.
As an Arsenal fan, I feel similarly disgusted at how many of our fans back Partey after what he’s done.
That might not be true
Thomas Partey is a different case. He doesn’t have a video recording of him doing the crime itself, so for now innocent until proven guilty.
@@trungnguyen7827 Mason Greenwood doesn't have a video of him doing a crime tho does he? He has a video of him behaving like a fucking idiot, but that seems to be it. Or am i totally misunderstanding the video. Is there anything illegal going on in the audio?

People who dont look at others views and call them 'idiots' or 'r*pist supporters' are just disgusting. As far as I’m aware, he has had multiple cases against him, including imprisonment of his ex wife that was later dropped. He was a pretty despicable character.
The reason why people are defending Mason and backing United because United as a whole are extremely desperate to either get him playing or need to find someone who doesn’t care to buy him.

I think if United´s owners weren´t the Glazers (who treat every aspect of the club like an asset) then he would be gone already. But unfortunately the Glazers look at him as an asset and won´t get rid of him. And we all know that big business men relinquish their morals in exchange for a good asset.
If Ryan Giggs doesn't get into the hall of fame for what he did but Mason Greenwood gets to keep playing, it's such a double standard
Well said, as a ''United'' fan I agree with you 100%. The people who celebrate the potential return of Greenwood sicken me to the core to be honest. I am at breaking point with the club I once loved, the ownership of this club has worn me out mentally already. This is the final straw for me now, I will be supporting my local team from now on, there has to be standards. I totally agree with you that the United should be the standard and if this is the standard they can keep it. Such a shame, the busby babes must be turning in their graves, disgusting actions from greedy fat cat owners who only want to line their pockets and have no moral compass or standards of their own. The worst part about all of it, is that they dragged the women's team through the mud. Leaving it up to their decision on whether he should comeback or not. They should know that these women will be abused online (as is currently happening) and sent horrific messages. But this club has never cared for it's women's side and only seen as a way to improve their PR and social image. IMO the women's team have a massive opportunity to step up and refuse to play for the club, as it is obvious that the club do not care for their safety or their input.
Id hope to think that Manchester United match day fans who go to Old Trafford will make their voices heard. The online fans are not the majority. Greenwood is scum, people forget he cheated on her before he did what he did. Fans of all clubs shouldn't use this to point score over United fans is bigger than that
All professional athletes are cheating. The girls who are dating them understand that and if they think they aren’t those girls are delusional
My point being that as fans we can’t really do much about the lack of consideration morality has had in the world of Football and more specifically those in charge regardless of ranking
It’s just sad that us fans support the game only for these type of things going in the background.
Just cos he’s not guilty doesn’t mean he’s innocent
What makes u think the audio was real could be fake too imagine trusting everything u see on the net
Certified clown comment 😂
It’s a shame. Many young people look up to Geenwood. And will think that they can get away with abuse because greenwood did.
