I would like to thank you once again Mark! This is one of my greatest highlights as a food vlogger. totally a wish come true to had a collab with you. all the way here from the Philippines wishing you and your Fam, a happy holidays! keep safe always. 😊

ive followed your channel since close to day one and it often dawns on me that you have kept it 100% real the entire way through your journey. your parents raised you well!
The absolute legend of food travel vloggers. Thank you Mark for the inspiration to create Drew's Travels, documenting province life in the Philippines. God bless you 🙏
This dude gets as excited as Mark does about food lol! Food besties 🐖 Always makes me smile seeing such happy people doing what they love to do. I gotta make it to the Philippines some day… the people seem so nice and welcoming!
I was there!, Mark Wiens is so humble to everyone and i'm so very grateful to meet the one the greatest food vlogger in the world, God bless you always!
I had the honor of experiencing Lechon in 1990 at a Philipino birthday party in Houston, Texas, USA back in 1991. The chef removed the head first, and then he carved the little piglet as if it were a loaf of bread. It tasted wonderful!
Our lechon in Puerto Rico is equally popular. The roadside places look similar, though nut so crowded. I think the big difference is that the lechon is not stuffed. Also, soy sauce is not used to baste, so the skin is not red. Philippines and Puerto Rico--lechon capitals of earth !
Mark… this absolutely the best thing. To be able to travel and be happy and eat delicious food is truly a blessing. Thanks for sharing your adventurous life.

Here is what I am going to say....when you have PERFECT Pig Recipes you cannot go wrong. Thank You, Mark for PERFECTION! Pig and Lamb are my favorite meats when done properly. And particularly in the regions you visit. The Skin on this Pig is FANTASTIC! I watch you EVERYDAY and you NEVER fail! Looking forward to the next 5 years of visiting where you lead me! I will keep you apprised of my cities and countries where you lead me....Thank You!
Im just smiling the whole video. Im a proud cebuana. CEBU LECHON is the BEST. Thank you Mark for featuring the sensational lechon in Philippines! Lechon is part of our celebrations here in Philippines.
You should evolve your thoughts. In a just world this aint right. This is what they probably eat in hell. Why the f would you eat animals in this manner. Look at them screaming 😢
Thank you Mark for show casing the Philippine lechon. It is incomparable and as good as the Puerto Rican style lechon which I have also tasted while visitng the island and going to Guavate in the past. Your enthusiasm and enjoyment of our lechon will definitely bring the lechon culture of the Philippines to the world stage. God bless and safe travels.
Wow Filipinos are really awesome! My parents always talk about the Philippines all the time. Man I wish to be able to go and have some authentic lechon!
Stop dreaming JV - come now, its a very nice month, not too hot. Beaches are waiting for you - lots of them and turquoise blue oceans. Bring lots of money!
Ohhhh gosh! One of if not the most pleasurable things to eat in life. The juices. I just recently discovered this in a Filipino market. But nothing like this. Fresh on the roadside. This is as speechless as Mark gets.🔥🔥🔥😋😋😋♥♥😘😘😎
I LOVE Mark and his CHILI's! Everytime I watch his video's---no matter where he is---I WAIT. Because I KNOW when he gets the food he will be adding the Chili's to the sauce dipping. It has started me at home to make sure I have these Chili's to the meals I prepare. I can't always use them as he does, I am not as accepting of hot spice---but the times I do I am impressed. Thank You, Mark!
i'm a filipina and being away from Philippines esp this Christmas season makes me feel so homesick! 😢 Thank you Mark for visiting my hometown Cebu and eating my favorite food lechon 😋
And yet another Philippines episode! Blessed Christmas indeed to all and of all places to celebrate, in the Philippines! Thanks Mark and team! The ohs and wows show how much they enjoyed this round.
There’s a big difference between rotisserie lechon vs oven cooked lechon. Rotisserie wins every time. The rotation helps spread the flavor all over the pig where as in the oven it just sits in the bottom of the pig’s stomach
Hello, the way that when both of you react eating the lechion is very infectious wherein while I am watching I felt the scrumptious fondness. Thank you to both of you for very good delivered the authenticity of both reaction. 👏👏👏
As long as the Lechon is tender, it’s good. Flavor varies from different provinces. Plus, the skin should be crispy with a texture as thin as the sugar glaze and is not hard to your gums. Most especially, juicy. No sauce needed. Just plain 90% lean, 10% skin and fat
Mark n Stanley bravo Lechon endeavours across Cebu. Your videos makes my mouth watering every time you stop and savour another. Just wish i could enjoy Lechon with both you guys . Thanks bros
Mark has taken us to heaven in this episode 🤣 40 minutes devoted entirely to lechon (and filmed in the place where it was born) is feeling like an early Christmas gift! Thank you Mark. Can't get over he crackling skin, the juiciness, the stuffing and marinating process, the side dishes... we're getting it all here!
Those "sea grapes" are available here in Arkansas supermarkets in a little jar and it looks like caviar, but is absolutely tasteless that way. I would love to try the fresh ones on the stems. The enzymes in the shredded papaya are necessary for proper and safe digestion of the pig. Substitute pineapple or kiwi for the enzymes.
I bet those sea grapes are already limp, slimey, and popped. You definitely should try them fresh. It's so fun to pop them in your mouth. We usually go during low tide to find those (molluscs and sea urchins as well), then find a sand bar or bunch of rocks to sit in, take out our rice, and dip those sea grapes on the spiced coconut vinegar dip we bring with us. There are spicy varieties of the sea grapes as well. On It's own, sea grapes are actually kinda tasteless, but if you get them fresh from the sea, the taste the ocean enhances the flavor. Slimey but not the disgusting kind of slimey.
@@iagreewithyou3478 No. Neither limp, slimey, or popped. Not even salty! I think my problem is that I expected them to taste like seawater at least. But no.
@@notmyworld44 oh at least the texture is preserved. Most of what I saw that's bottled/canned have already shriveled up haha I suggest just preparing a vinegar dip for it, with salt, sugar, garlic, chili, and onions. It really doesn't have much flavor on its own. Perfect side dish for grilled fish or meat.
Great content, Mark. I agree the Cebu region probably has the best-roasted lechon so far in the country where their dipping sauce (vinegar, soy sauce, onions, chili, etc...) differed from some other regions which use liver sauce (pork liver, vinegar, sugar, bread crumbs, onions, garlic, seasoning, etc) which is also very tasty. I prefer the regular vinegar + soy sauce + chili for my dip and I use the liver sauce to mix my rice :). Although the topic is roasted lechon, You (Mark) should have tasted the "Lechon Paksiw" which is just a left-over lechon cooked in vinegar, soy sauce, onions, laurel leaves, etc... where you don't need a Chef ...just regular Auntie or Grandma or any person who cooks adobo. Eat it with steamy evenly cooked rice and you will have a different experience.
Hi Mark & Stanly! Wow, you guys had a 1 day-Licious and most fun and exciting Lechon experience here in Cebu. I enjoy watching you both as Stanly, obviously is a one super friendly and happy guy. ❤ We hope to meet him too! I bet by tomorrow I'm gonna eat Lechon for our Noche Buena! Thank you Mark for showing the world our local food! Merry to you & Ms Ying ❤🎉

This is by far one of my favorite videos! I’ve had Puerto Rican style lechon (pernil) and Hawaiian style lechon (kalua) and Mexican carnitas but I’ve got to try Filipino lechon!!! ❤
Finally Talisay Lechon is acknowledged! That's where the best lechon came from and also i love how you pointed out that Talisay is where Lechon originated. (i live in that city BTW) A lot of tourist are misguided saying that it is from Car-Car which is what kind of triggers me
That's your opinion simply. You may not know that people from Talisay just move to Carcar to sell lechon because it has a bigger market place and people going to tourist destinations at the south can just pass by. That doesn't make it "CarCar" lechon.
@@Alouette_EXE Well I'm from the town before CarCar. South Bound. The flavor and how the pig is roast> Talisay. 😮💨 Heck, nowadays people just roast their own during pista or holidays.
@@EckRD again that's simply your opinion i didnt ask. BTW its just like saying im selling Chicharon from carcar in Talisay and call it Talisay Chicharon then call it better

Lol, why are you thinking him for loving something? Lol, that isnt something needed to do, he cant help it if he loves Philippines' food lol, just because the narrative is saying bad stuff about it doesnt mean its some thing that a person is "being nice" if they actually like it, which outside of the loud vocal minority, most do.
Thank you, Mark!!! been here in Canada for 5 years but I will never forget my home-grown country. Videos like this makes a world of difference for us. Thank you so much
Mark Wiens adventure in Cebu Philippines Lechon pork is famous in Cebu Roasted Pork so perfect aroma everyone enjoys loves to eat enjoyable vlog mouthwatering
all of the 80ies and most of the 90ies my Father would roast a whole pig usually around 25 kilos he would make a sausage rice stuffing and sew it well so nothing could fall out we had a 300-meter journey up the driveway to my Aunt's house to eat it .. he would open a rotating 5-gallon bottle of well-crafted strawberry mead (always had to ferment and had waiting till they were just perfect) to go along with it .. the process took from around 6 am all the way to around 4:30ish and about 80 couples and children would come making the turnout to be close to 200 other dishes such as roast chicken and or ham and lots of fresh corn on the cob and boiled new potatoes.. the list was as long as my arm .. those were the days... this was done around the end of July every year...
Well done Mr. Wiens for supporting new youtubers with something to share. Even more relevant for me as I used to live in Cebu. Hope all is well and Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays. From your Chef/Fan in Southend on Sea, UK.

Lol, that isnt something needed to do, he cant help it if he loves Philippines' food lol, just because the narrative is saying bad stuff about it doesnt mean its some thing that a person is "being nice" if they actually like it, which outside of the loud vocal minority, most do.
This is what I love about Mark Weins. He always do his best to immerse himself into every place he goes.
Thank you, Mark!!! been here in Canada for 5 years but I will never forget my home-grown country. Videos like this makes a world of difference for us. Thank you so much

Stanley is the most joyful, positive, energetic, entertaining and enthusiastic person that you have in your show for Philippines. Great job💯
I have no words for how amazing this was! Lechon is truly legendary!
