Thank you so much for putting out these review and transformation videos of these future release figures. You got a great start. Wish you the best in your figure review journey.
keep at it, Springer my boy, helps at hand. cant wait to get my springer, purposefully waited on him hoping we would eventually get this exact one, so excited
Springer, and Starscream from the Siege line kick started my fourth time collecting following a decade after a divorce, and losing my own comic store/online toy store.. I found him at an outlet store where I live in Florida, about three years ago. After getting them, Kingdom was slated to come out and Studio Series was showing the upcoming 86 assortment so I was so excited! I kept my finger's crossed each time I read an update.. Now I'm on the hunt for him in the wild! I wish Takara had a version with a windowless box, however. I'd most likely keep him packaged if that was the case. Sorry I'm really excited as well! I was only about 5 years old when they re-released the movie at the $1 theatre a year or two after it first came out. And I thought Springer was so awesome! That scene made me excited but also extremely upset seeing that Wheeljack was among the offline Autobots.. LoL! Such a roller coaster of emotion even 35 years after!
The Siege Springer figure was so close to perfection. The new leader figure pretty much addresses everything I wanted in a revised version to make it perfect. I love it
You had the shoulder in robot mode missed transformed as the supposed to be on the sides to make him more animation accurate and to give more articulation.
I really do think that Triple changers should get their own price point tbh. $40 or $45, something to where the figure itself justifies the price without having to add copious accessories.
@@ToysareRuss my guess is they can't sell toys cheap anymore due to the dollar being weak which is caused by monetary inflation. Thus we are seeing many Voyager-sized toys sold at leader class prices with a few exceptions. The Commander class is roughly the size of older leader class toys now. The trick is they just add a few accesories to voyagers to justify a leader class toy. I think a great way for them to save money in future is just re-release all the transformers toys in plain carboard boxes with no boxart and just give them superior paint apps. This will help the toys get more quality at the expense of the fancy boxes with cool boxart. You yourself mentioned you don't care for the diorama stuff. I would rather have better paint apps and accessories than cool boxart. I would rather have plain cardboard box (which is reusable for storage of my figures) than the fancy boxes. This way they save money and collectors can get more quality on the toys itself. The recent MP-44S was done this way. If you know what you are getting you don't really care about the fancy box. The box is just a good way to store a toy. The retailers obviously have to have the display look nice so people can see what the figures look like, however a re-issue with better paint apps doesn't need the boxart.
Price points are decided by retailers unfortunately. Takara sets prices for individual figures when they need to so there's a lot more flexibility. For example, Leaders at the time of Titans Return were about $80. So when they put out Super Ginrai, which is a great example to compare here he cost $95. He was a retool of TR PM Prime (who himself was also a retool of CW Magnus and cost $80 in Japan), but had not only new parts but a bunch of "extra" parts engineered into the figure, just like Springer here. Both were upgraded out of their former price points.
Hey bud! So I found SS 86 Springer at a local GameStop for $30-something on clearance! I was asking if you thought he was definitely worth the normal retail or pre-order price. But I found him today marked down to such a low price! I did not have all the cash on hand but just found a second SS 86 Ratchet and Junkheap. I already have both figures opened and my friend offered me the amount. I don't at all mean to sound like a braggart but I am so OCD and I was the one who handled him straight from the shipment box. He's truly "case Fresh" and I am scratching my head as to why they marked him down?! I missed out on the reissue of Shattered Glass Optimus and Ratchet that was also marked down to $30-something. It's very odd. Idk if you have an opportunity to hit up GameStop or might be looking for anything in particular but I'd be more than happy to keep my eyes open for you! Thank you again for your replies. I truly appreciate your feedback Oh! Do you know about the SS 86 Optimus Prime having the manufacturing issues with his feet? They're upside down! So it makes standing difficult, and the lights are on the wrong side (which if it was just the running light and breaklight in the wrong spots big whoop but it alters his standing ability which is a total bummer!) thought I'd let you know! Cheers bud!
Really pleased you got what you wanted. Unfortunately there are no GameStops in the uk. The prime I have borrowed from Hasbro has the issue but it really isn’t an issue at all
Great review! I'm tossing around the idea of which one I truly want to display, and I just love the Siege version. however, Springer is, by FAR , one of my top 5 (even if you include Beast Wars and multiverse variants!) so I will probably keep the wrecker's version boxes, and the SS 86 will have to be displayed. I really hope his mold is not loose by now because the Siege version was so durable! I truly appreciate the comparisons. I used to have a small local store, and after a divorce then subsequent addiction problem I found myself getting rid of the very things that brought me joy. I know this comment turned dark but I'm on the straight now. People ask why I still collect, and each one represents my steps towards sobriety. @@ToysareRuss Not sure I understand what you are saying about. The small bits I am referencing are the clear green cylinder (same color as the long blades) ones where one of them serve as an handle for sword mode. I am saying the rotor might look better if you position the long blades perpendicular to the small handle bits.
Guessing by the nickname you’re referring to how people say Prime v Prime steals figures. I noticed this guy has them early too but if he’s not doing the same do you know how he gets them? Just assuming by your wording you don’t approve of what PvP does

With these triple changers, most reviewers show transforming from robot to one alt mode, then from that alt mode to the second alt mode, but rarely the transformation from robot to the second alt mode.
Despite being undersized for a Leader the retooling and additional accessories (most of which are really good) seem to be a better value than some previous Leasers. I'm not sure there's enough here for owners of the original to bother as it's still very similar but as someone who only owns the T30 at the moment feels like the best and most G1 accurate iteration readily available. While you did mention the arms folding open, I think they were meant to represent the wrist rockets he had in the movie. Really love that the figure itself has not only two swords to dual wield, but three nicely sized blasters at well.
If you don’t have either seige or wreckers this is the one. It’s very good. You are correct about the wrist rocket and I’ve put a short up showing what I missed
@@ToysareRuss one of the clips broke on mine and is barely attached so won't transform him again (wreckers version) but after going online I've seen LOTS of people have the same issue and also say that they hoped the SS86 version (if the same mould) would get sorted after the complaints on the previous 2. Glad to hear though someone had no problem with theirs as I've had a few bots where a lot of ppl had QC issues over the same thing in some bits but mine had been fine
I’m just worried about the leg tabs. I got two copies of the original siege version, and one’s leg tabs broke after a few transformations, and the other got a huge stress mark the after a similar amount of transformations.
Did they fix the lose/wobbley leg issues from the Siege version? Mine always had the hardest time standing straight up. It looks like the Studio version still has to be at a lean when standing up.
I just compared my SS86 Starscream to the Earth-Rise, and I believe he means by way of the hands and overall look. He does appear slightly larger! Even without the coronation effects. Just larger parts on the same mold. Perhaps it's mental but I'm looking at them side by side..
@@edz8872 yeah it must be the appearance. I thought "upscale" in terms of swapped out features and accessories. But yes, the body mold is the same. I'm sorry I meant in terms of features making him appear larger. Like I typed "mental" LoL! Have you seen the size of the box as compared to figures like SS Primal, and concept art Megatron? There's so much room! I know it's kinda off subject but the price increase for them is a bit much. Such a giant box for a small amount of plastic. Albeit incredibly awesome plastic! I'm still looking at them side by side like he's going to grow ha!
I was really referring to price point. So my bad for causing confusion. I basically meant they gave Starscream some hand articulation and more accessories and his price point went up from a voyager to leader. Like this guy. New hands, chest and more accessories. So price point went up
It's too bad that the price went to all the accessories rather than actually making him a larger figure. I mean, their cool, but do we need 3 guns, an extra sword, and the missle?
Completely wrong. Remove all the extra accessories and he's still made up of more parts than the Siege figure, he's got extra pieces all over the figure that the Siege figure doesn't.
@@edz8872 i understand the retooling portion, and didn't mean to minimize that. I'm simply saying that in addition to that, a bit of up-sizing rather than reusing the same guns and giving an extra sword would have been appreciated. I'm tired of paying leader prices for voyage figures just because they have extra plastic accessories.
@@iBeamer Those "Voyager" figures would not fit in the Voyager budget if they dropped all those extra accessories. Those figures are engineered at beyond the Voyager price, with the accessories to fill out the rest of the Leader budget. Aside from Shockwave, whose figure was actually Voyager quality figure, the rest are too complex for a Voyager budget. And most of the ones with the extra accessories don't need to need to be taller, they're all at the size they're supposed to be. We don't need an Astrotrain, Blitzwing, Sandstorm or Springer as large as the SS86 Dinobots which are Leaders that do have the size you're expecting from a Leader class but without the haul of accessories the other figures get to compensate.
A small part of me wants to get 86 Springer (just like how I got Coronation Starscream, Brawn, and Ratchet), but another part of me makes me glad I got Thrilling 30 Springer (one of the best Transformers figures ever made) off of Amazon for $120. So I'm sticking with the latter part.
Great video mate. One thing, have they fixed the issues with the knees and ankles which were frustratingly weak on the two previous versions of the mold I owned?
They definitely seem more stable. I’m not sure if it was Jaimie or someone else but to let them have a play with the ankles just so they could see how much more sturdy they were.
@@ToysareRuss yes I pre ordered straight away! I’m a sucker for the more screen accurate G1 cartoon/movie stuff, I just wish they could come out like that first time around!
Springer is up there in my top 5. So, I'll definitely want the studio series. I have to ask, does he have any loose joint issues? Siege is of course the first mold and very tight . I thought about just buying another Siege to keep in the package and just order the upgraded sword but I'm sure I'll end up doing both. The Wrecker version is cool too and pay homage to the comic/ original toy.. but he really is awesome, and I'm going mental waiting to find one in the wild! My ocd prevents me from ordering online. I'm always afraid to get a broken figure. Hasbro is great with replacing a figure though. I did some artwork and received figures that came in all plastic! Almost like how a mail away version would be. Assuming you are able to get certain figures to review, I'm sure you are well aware of this. Thank you for the awesome upload!
@@ToysareRuss considering you get loaners, and it's probably common knowledge regardless. However, I always like to hear or read it from you. You know how some of the boxes do not have windows? For example, S.S. Primal came in a completely enclosed box. I don't see that too often except for ones we know to be completely sealed. Do you know a way I could obtain the studio series Springer in an enclosed box without the window? I saw a Takara version across the sea that has a really cool packaging design. I am afraid to order it, and get a bootleg. I'd truly appreciate any suggestions. The more I watch your comparison, the more I realize I have to get him. I my just order a Siege to keep packaged and open the SS version. I'm very obsessive and compulsive with my collecting. When I had my toy store, my house was a museum to anything we thought was cool! I believe we chatted about that. I ended up with three of him! Hasbro treated me very well! Anyway, as always thank you, and cheers!
@@ToysareRuss I don't know the proper etiquette for exchanging info or offering certain things.. but I live in Florida, and I'm right by Target, and GameStop. I know it's a real pain in the arse to get Buzzworthy and certain figures that are plentiful here. I'd be more than happy to find certain figures you may want really bad, and I only will trade with people I know take care of their collection like I do. I'm searching for an Earthrise mold Sunstreaker in the worse way! I was so happy to get the concept art and I paired him with the Game-Verse Sideswipe. But that Earthrise mold is beautiful! Ayyy russ getting new figures direct from hasbro. Is this arrangement gonna continue into the future? 👀 would love to keep getting early reviews here. ethics of buying stollen toys aside I’m just not a fan of the other channels that usually get the first reviews out
I really hope so bud. The response from you guys, the viewers has been so positive. I also know that hasbro are happy that we got the first bumble video out too. So let’s keep our fingers crossed
It doesn't seem like PvP really does that anymore. He's never the first source for toys anymore and he pretty much does a review when it's already available on a shelf somewhere.
I really think they missed a trick by not using his feet as rear tail fins. Great figure, just still haven’t decided is it worth the upgrade. Great review as always Russ!
Definitely getting this guy. I have the Transformers Siege version and loved it. He is imo the best Triple Changer. Optimus Prime should have given Springer the Matrix of Leadership. But nooo, it went to the inexperienced emo character. LOL
I was a bit skeptical when I first saw images of him.don’t really like the price but he looks so much better than the siege version.so for me it’ll be worth picking up.thanks for the review.cheers
Your a springaholic 😂😂. Great figure but they went to far on this price point. At that price they could have had arm panels to fold those fists in easy .
I mainly collect G1 and their Masterpiece versions, but I'll see a cool looking SS figure on eBay or in stores and end up buying them. I have amassed a lot of SS figures, so i guess I'm collecting SS now 😂 My personal favorites so far have been SS103 Rhinox and SS 106 Optimus Primal. I'm a sucker for Beast Wars and motorcycle Transformers. Yes, I know most motorcycle Transformers are terrible, but motorcycles are awesome! It also makes sense for there to be smaller bots for specific missions that don't require heavy weaponry but a more covert approach.
The bomb is from his most iconic scene in the movie. The one that everyone always quotes. The hammer is because he’s a wrecker. So basically the 2 most import accessories that are relative to this character.

I’m just worried about the leg tabs. I got two copies of the original siege version, and one’s leg tabs broke after a few transformations, and the other got a huge stress mark the after a similar amount of transformations.
I can see your point. I do g transform mine loads. If it helps the ankle rock is definitely more sturdy.
@@ToysareRuss well I don think it was a good widespread issue I guess. I must’ve just gotten really unlucky.
for the helicopter sword could you flip it and use the rectangle tab to store in car mode using the same slot the bomb plugged into?
Yes you are correct. You can.
Did they fix the lose/wobbley leg issues from the Siege version? Mine always had the hardest time standing straight up. It looks like the Studio version still has to be at a lean when standing up.
This versions legs are much more stable
@@ToysareRuss great to know! Thank you!
They never upscaled Starscream, what do you mean?
I just compared my SS86 Starscream to the Earth-Rise, and I believe he means by way of the hands and overall look. He does appear slightly larger! Even without the coronation effects. Just larger parts on the same mold.
Perhaps it's mental but I'm looking at them side by side..
@@SurprisedCoyote-mj8px They're definitely the same mold, they just have alternate hands to swap between which release they wanted to use them for.
So price point went up
This is a highly anticipated figure review by a bona fide veteran Transformers collector!
🤩👍💫
Thanks very much
We already have a second ss triple changer wonder who is next also amazing review as usual
Thanks. We need a decent octane now. Broadside will be the most difficult to do
@@ToysareRuss oh yeah and definitely if they include the mass hitting
That sword/rotor really bugs me. I wanted to like it but the blades don't face the proper directions in rotor mode!
Maybe You can spin them round or turn them the other way
It's too bad that the price went to all the accessories rather than actually making him a larger figure. I mean, their cool, but do we need 3 guns, an extra sword, and the missle?
Completely wrong. Remove all the extra accessories and he's still made up of more parts than the Siege figure, he's got extra pieces all over the figure that the Siege figure doesn't.
This is true and that’s what I was showing on the underside, the parts you can’t see as they’re all in his chest etc.
Are the joints tighter, loose, the same??
They feel much tighter
A small part of me wants to get 86 Springer (just like how I got Coronation Starscream, Brawn, and Ratchet), but another part of me makes me glad I got Thrilling 30 Springer (one of the best Transformers figures ever made) off of Amazon for $120.
So I'm sticking with the latter part.
The thrilling 30 is a great figure. I’m pleased you have him
He looks like he should glow in the dark, would be awesome if he did.
That would be cool
Great video mate. One thing, have they fixed the issues with the knees and ankles which were frustratingly weak on the two previous versions of the mold I owned?
They definitely seem more stable. I’m not sure if it was Jaimie or someone else but to let them have a play with the ankles just so they could see how much more sturdy they were.
@@ToysareRuss that's good to hear. I noticed during the video you were holding him up quite a bit so I was a little concerned! 😄
It’s definitely better, especially colour wise, but I wish they’d done a brand new one
Will you still get him?
This is the superior version bud and with all of the accessories, they’re a great bonus
I had an all Transformers room. My collection started back from scratch around 2020. I found Siege Springer, and Starscream and now I have a decent collection. These guys always make me happy, and I truly appreciate your channel.
Oh! I forget if I offered.. but I have a bunch of boxes, and backdrop displays. I'm not too keen on them but I know they can come in handy.. reply if you could use them, I'd be more than happy to contribute to the channel.
Cheers!
@@Cliff_Jumped_0ff83 that’s very kind of you and I’m sure they would be a great addition for me to use. I’m in the uk though so postage could be a stumbling block. I also have channel memberships which gives you access to the private discord if you wanted to contribute that way too.
Ok you would need the takara version to get the sealed box. So use Amazon Japan as it’ll be an original figure
@@ToysareRuss that's a great suggestion! Yeah I imagine the postage would be mental.. I considered selling them as a lot online but it's been so long since I even sold anything on eBay. I'll look into how much it all weighs.
Okay, so I'm going to search online for the Takara version.. thank you, again, so very much! Oh! And I sorted out the mess with Cliffjumper from the four pack?
Hopefully the pricing will lower. He was over $100 US dollars!
Anyway, I thought I'd offer. Hopefully soon I'm going to visit my friend who lives near Manchester. I can't wait!
Russ, you seem to be beating the criminal thief, PvP to the punch AND with Hasbo’s endorsement. Well done, man. 👍🏻
Looks like he's doing it with the help of hasbro 😂
It doesn't seem like PvP really does that anymore. He's never the first source for toys anymore and he pretty much does a review when it's already available on a shelf somewhere.
@@ethanclark100 Nah he's still got his little cabal of South East Asian factory lifters.
Thanks so much.
I just wish I had more time to get them all done. I’m fitting them in around my real job and family life.
Hasbro really getting tired with the theive reviewers, so they turn to reliable russ with trying to beat the theives to the reviews😂 great review bro!
Very true, thanks for your support bud.
I really think they missed a trick by not using his feet as rear tail fins. Great figure, just still haven’t decided is it worth the upgrade.
Great review as always Russ!
Good point! That’s a great idea
@@ToysareRuss thanks i did it with my siege on looks much better but sadly missing a bit of tidying round crotch area 😂
Prefer the Studio Series 86 for sure, fantastic figure.
It’s a great upgrade
Definitely getting this guy. I have the Transformers Siege version and loved it. He is imo the best Triple Changer. Optimus Prime should have given Springer the Matrix of Leadership. But nooo, it went to the inexperienced emo character. LOL
He’s so cool and a great uograde
Ok... Now I believe you!
LOOL
Thanks
I'm disappointed tbh. They should have made him bigger and taller especially for that 55 dollar price point.
Good point but he had to scale with the others so can’t be much bigger.
I was a bit skeptical when I first saw images of him.don’t really like the price but he looks so much better than the siege version.so for me it’ll be worth picking up.thanks for the review.cheers
Thanks for your honest opinion and comment. You won’t be disappointed when you get him
it's over for crime vs crime
He will always have a huge following. I’ll do my best to get the others done quickly too.
They really couldn’t be bothered to make gap fillers for the legs
I can’t imagine how it would work with how intricate and often you have to fold them out and in etc during transformation
His shoulder pads are SUPPOSED to be tilted.
Fair enough.
Your a springaholic 😂😂. Great figure but they went to far on this price point. At that price they could have had arm panels to fold those fists in easy .
It’s because of the gold out cannon gimmick I missed. It’s in the short video of him on here though.
Pro tip - don't shoot in HDR
Thanks, I only use my mobile phone. What setting should I use?
@@ToysareRuss the turn HDR off setting
@@OptimusMonk01 thanks. I’ll look for that. Unfortunately the next 3 I upload were already recorded the old way. But after that it’ll be the new way.
@@OptimusMonk01 just worked out how to do it. Thanks for the advice
I don't like Springer enough to buy multiple versions of him. Siege is more than adequate.
Seige is still great and if you’re not fussed about the addition weapons, you are absolutely correct
All those accessories and none of them can make the tail wings 🥀
This is true
The sige version in my opinion is way better and a better representation of 1986
I still love the seige version. It’s more than adequate for displaying.
I mainly collect G1 and their Masterpiece versions, but I'll see a cool looking SS figure on eBay or in stores and end up buying them. I have amassed a lot of SS figures, so i guess I'm collecting SS now 😂
My personal favorites so far have been SS103 Rhinox and SS 106 Optimus Primal. I'm a sucker for Beast Wars and motorcycle Transformers. Yes, I know most motorcycle Transformers are terrible, but motorcycles are awesome! It also makes sense for there to be smaller bots for specific missions that don't require heavy weaponry but a more covert approach.
It’s funny how we end up collecting things at first we don’t intend too. Thanks for sharing
Why in the world did they give him a bomb those accessories are daft especially the hammer
He used the mortar in the movie.
The bomb is from his most iconic scene in the movie. The one that everyone always quotes. The hammer is because he’s a wrecker. So basically the 2 most import accessories that are relative to this character.
wth the front wheels are different from the back, its fkn ugly
I need to see if they’re different colours in the animation
