I had no idea they had a siege springer. Im holding on to my springer repaint of evac on my shelf. I just love that figure and also the blades repaint. I thought that particular mold does not have enough appreciation. Thank you for your very detailed reviews!

Great review, Chefatron! Springer looks fantastic. I was never satisfied with the look of the generations figure. I just don't enjoy that IDW aesthetic as much as the classic G1 styling. This guy is a thing of beauty though.
Generations Roadbuster was pretty much a Siege figure with its so many port holes and weapons, only thing missing is the improved articulations. Generations Whirl is also fine, and comes with many weapons.

Transforming this one is a nightmare. The wheels don't roll in car mode no matter how many times I try to align everything to make some clearance and in helicopter mode there is no way to completely tab the canopy into the feet/main body. There is no fun in transforming this one, only frustration and fear to break something, so after several tries I gave up and I'll keep it in robot mode.
i hear you, man. it's really that waist transformation that's sucking out all the fun in this one. i was only able to transform this one properly after a few time doing it after i already reviewed the figure
I have this one. I didn't get the Generations one. While I like this one, I do like the looks of the Generations one. He has shoulder flares, he's got good colors, and he has less accessories to keep track of.
I love this figure I really do but the transformation sucks and the green panels that hold the chest in place always pops off during transformation and for the price point Hasbro should start putting pins into these figures and this one by far is the toughest I have ever dealt with that I have purchased.
I apologize for bitching so much and I have transformed him three times in both modes already and really enjoy messing with him and those two green panels I gingerly flip them and they don't hardly come off anymore.
i've tried that several time, but the joints on my figure are much tighter than others. the clearance is just so small that a millimeter of error in transformation will result in him scraping the ground

Very good review. Thanks for pointing out these issues with wheels. I saw other reviewer (I think it was peaugh) complaining about too loose ankle articulation, nice to see your Springer isn't affected (I hope mine won't be too, this one is must buy for me). Siege is really going to burn the hole in my wallet, though, it's not likely I'll buy three of, ahem, Refractors (most likely I won't buy him at all, he's small for deluxe and his spaceship mode is... I have no words to describe how it makes me rotfl every time I look at it), but leader Astrotrain and voyager Apeface will be another must buys...
thanks, man. yeah, some people said it was easy for them because of the loose joints. but my copy had really tight joints that it's quite difficult to get him flush in land alt mode. i'm not complaining too much though. yeah, you said it man. my bank account is exploding and dying. i got rid of most of my Masterpiece figures to get funds for the SIEGE figures. and between those 2 lines, my money is now on the Generations line. the MP line is just so price restrictive now the the dramatic increase in prices. yeah, pretty excited for those 2 :-)
Rad, shame about the hindered rolling though. I'm sure some third party wheel set will be made to fix that. Bigger wheels or offset a bit so there's more clearance. That green looks amazing in person, I'll def be getting him if i see him.
i know. there are ways to really make him roll with just a hair width clearance from the ground, but i can't seem to get it during most transformations. the clearance is just too small. i love the colors. definitely our springer. happy hunting, man, and thanks :-)
I feel like you may have slightly mistransformed the back half of the ground vehicle mode, it looks longer and the thighs look more exposed than images I can find of it online. Could be wrong, maybe I'm jus not a fan of the mode and think it looks weird in general lol
yeah, the mid section needs to be pushed down a bit more. i've transformed him several times after filming this review, and there's really a way to compress everything, albeit, it could really suck the fun out of transforming the figure.
i'm not sure man. it'll depend on which country or area you're in. out here in Manila, getting stuff online is difficult because shipping to and from my country is an absolute nightmare. so we resort to facebook groups where collectors unload their stuff. sometimes you get lucky. other times like every other month there are toy conventions in our area. it's like bazaar/flea market of toy vendors all in one convention hall. so sometimes you get lucky there.
This is an amazing figure. I haven't seen it in stores yet, though. The smaller size and the dumb way they handled the helicopter blade swords are the only gripes I have with it, and even then, it's nitpicking. *BUT*, I still feel that the old Generations "Thrilling 30" Springer scales better - with the likes of Siege Ultra Magnus, Titans Return Hot Rod (as Hot Rod), Power of the Primes Hot Rod (as Rodimus Prime), Titans Return Kup, Titans Return Blurr, Generations Arcee, Titans Return Wheelie, and maybe some third-party stuff like the Fansproject Dinobots - for a CHUG style G1 Season 3 squad.

If they make a siege Arcee then Ill get the siege chromia. If not Ill go with the thrilling 30 chromia and arcee. If I get barricade Ill get prowl. Not a fan of the sideswipe mold but the alphastrike pack looks tempting. If they come out with Sandstorm, Ill pick up Springer.

I'm mainly a Studio Series collector and have no real interest in Siege at all (just not my thing) but i have fondness for Springer from the Marvel UK Transformers comic so i got this too. And it's alright. I dunno how I feel about it yet. Be one of those I need some more time playing and posing it. I absolutely detest that Siege battle damage paint though. I usually add silver paint myself on my bayverse figures for wear and tear and a more metallic look but i don't like how hasbro have done it here. And so I've already scrubbed most of it off (was pretty easy and didn't effect any of the painted areas underneath). For G1 style stuff i would have preferred a Transformers: Devastation deco like the new Prime and Megatron redecos have as for me that is the best that G1 ever looked. Go full toon! But yeah, I still have the 30th Springer from some years ago though i was never fond of the alt-modes on that. I dunno. I've probably killed some of the resale value of my Springer now by rubbing some of that silver paint off... unless there are other people who'd like a 'clean' one. We'll see what happens. Nice review but yeah I dunno how i feel about it but then G1 just isn't my thing anymore and it was just pure nostalgia for the comic that made be buy it (an impulse buy as it was very limited stock and i got the last one).
oh and the damn feet. i've had to fix those cos they were super loose on mine. Had to apply some clear nail polish to tighten up those joints so mine could actually stand up. :O
that’s awesome man, maybe you’ll get more siege figures in the future now that you’ve dipped into the line. i’ve been tempted myself to remove the battle damage paint apps but i’m just scared i’ll ruin my figure
@@chefatron using the rough side of a scouring sponge (used for washing dishes) the battle damage comes off quite easily without ruining any character paint that might be underneath. Some lil nooks and crannies are a bit tricky to get but yeah most of it juist wiped off and left the area looking clean. I dunno if I'd get any more Siege. As I said this was more a nostalgia buy for a character I had wanted a more accurate toy of when I was a kid (the original G1 Springer toy was ok but had some issues) and he's one of the few Siege figures who's not gained new modes but is instead based on his original version. It depends on what else they might come out with but yeah Studio is my main focus as that's just more my thing and I haven't tons of money so that gets first dibs on my cash. :D Have a good day, sir.

i've transformed him several times during practice. i could get him flat enough to really roll well but something always scrapes the ground. the first few times i did it, at least one wheel on either side would be elevated. i actually almost broke the torso are while getting him in between modes. my copy has some really tight joints, tighter than usual. and i think that could be the reason why i find it difficult to nail the land alt mode. i've seen others with looser joints than mine.
have to say mine rolls alright. it didn't look like it would but i put it on flat surface and pushed it and all four wheels rolled fine. maybe just one of those things.
It only took 30 years to make a G1 accurate Springer. I guess it's never too late.
