For clarification, at 3:07, I'm referring to the parry aspect of squid roll and squid surge. Obviously the movement portion always works. The question didn't mention parrying at all so was probably irrelevant to talk about that, but it wouldn't have changed my answer either way.
Splatoon could totally have a stage builder. The stages are already pretty simple in terms of geometry, most of them can be broken down in to basic blocks and wedges. Other games have done something similar too, like Halo has had Forge mode forever. There's a huge history of player made maps in multiplayer shooters. Not sure if custom stages would be balanced at all, but it would be fun to mess around with.
Honestly, just give us the shifty station assets, placeable gamemode objectives, and some adjustable game-modifiers using a basic 3D-camera editor. Textures and backgrounds would also be nice, though it kinda makes these would all be underground or in some virtual reality system. Oh, and definitely single player gimmicks; newer ones like the soaker blocks still have so much potential!
Big fan of the cohost you had for this video. Honestly a lot more interesting to have more than just your own opinion lol (idk how to word that less bluntly)
Honnestly custom maps have way more potential than custom kits. You could do multiplayer maps, salmon run maps or even singleplayer maps. With custom kits you're still limited by the maps.
I think that one question was trying to ask if you'd rather have Splatoon 2 meta withOUT Ray/Missiles or Splatoon 3 meta without Zooka/Cooler, but they messed up a bit.
12:48 for a remake of splatoon 1, i imagine it the singleplayer only, enhanced in quality, plus a free DLC-like extended story already available on day 1. honestly a multiplayer for that would also be nice, but probably no ranks, since it's not the main focus of the game (so multiplayer is just for fun on the remake, to play with older specials, while the competitive side stays on Splatoon 3)
Chase can't understand how hype splat 1 on the switch would be bc the class he mains didn't exist back then for him to have fun or make content on. If splat 1 came back with the Nintendo entertainment system or whatever, I would dead play splat 1 instead of 3. Gotta respect the one that started it all. Good video topic btw
I’m more fond of Splatoon 2 and what it had to offer over S3, so pretty much any answer that favors Splatoon 2 id pick… except the missiles one-I’d take ray over missiles in S3 any day lol.
For the mechanics question. What if when you “attack” your teammates with your main weapon, sub, or special. It heals your teamates. Similar to Ink Storm heal in Splatoon 3. It may or may not be broken in game so it could also be a support Special. It’s just a thought.
I’d love to see something like this done for some custom tracks. Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if one the bigger names it the CT community like ZPL would be interested in straight-up making a new track for the challenge.
Since you said you followed Gus despite not liking buckets: A video where yall do some kind of race where you play buckets and Gus plays dualie would be p fun
I really am Wishing for next Splatoon to allow 6 or 8 player teams including for Salmon Run. Drop ins can be fun but at the same time can you Imagine the chaos with larger teams possible on the new hardware?
22:31 i would have sided with gus here.. but for a slightly diffrent reason, i geneually feel like that if the stages cannot work well around specific weapons, let alone have a clear enough identity to show what weapons would be likely to prevail, then the balance of the game could be hard to maintain correctly
For Gus's take on the maps over third kits I don't think he realized that its not about what weapons NEED a third kit its more so just missed opportunities and more weapons to play for fun. like with the rain buff now it makes sense for a brella to get ink storm as a special, splash with zipcaster, jet and shot with burst bomb again, maybe a third dualie kit lets it get burst bomb inkjet. So many fun kit ideas that could have happened but just didn't would splash with zip be better than the other two? hell nah. Would it be way more fun? hell yeah
I realize that too. I’ve made videos about 3rd kits & have stated it would bring more fun. I just didn’t talk about it because my argument was in favor of better stages.
about the countering question I (personally) heavily disagree with buffing stuff to be better into specific things this means that now the person who plays that weapon they like now has to deal with multiple weapons who would be annoying to them all the time like imagine if they buffed splatlings/bows to be better/even against chargers somehow. now the charger players would have way less fun playing the game because they know someone will pick the specific thing the counter them. which means the charger player would have WAY less fun if you make weapon weaker by toning down that weapons strength while still making it a big strength of the weapon, the people who play the weapons would obviously feel worse at first playing the weapon but it would be better than running into the SPECIFIC things who counter your weapon every single game, especially in a tournament settings where people know what you play. you know people are picking it specifically to make sure you can't play the video game I think stuff like nerfing eliter/charger range or nerfing bubble's hp would be way healthier for the game because now EVERYONE gets to be better but the weapons still keep their main strength, just less oppressive If you wonder what happens when you buff counters to be better, that's why a lot of people don't enjoy overwatch anymore. they power cripped every character in the game, instead of nerfing the strong characters, which made played those strong characters not fun anymore because someone on the enemy team decided to pick something to specifically make sure you don't have fun
i think that a stage builder could work like the uefn terrain alter-er in fortnite where you can go around your map and change and lower or raise the map height
24:11 I’m surprised neither of you mentioned the existential dread of Stringers and Splatanas having their one shots constantly denied due to Armor if they were in S2
Hiya Chase! I have an idea for a video. Let your viewer's share their custom kits for dualies. I'm personally a dualie guy myself, so itd be nice to see what viewers have in mind.
15:14 That's not really a Splatoon 1 remake, that's just Splatoon 4 (in my opinion). 🧐🥱 Edit: For the last one,'s stage builder idea, i would think that you would have pieced of previous maps that have existed in the game and you could change the size and colour. In stage builder I also think that you would make one half of the stage and it would just be mirrored in a "demo" for you to experience. For the stage builder to work think they should only be used in private battles though. I also think that they could make a Splatoon Stage Builder a separate game/expansion you buy to make private battles more enjoyable.
I main Chargers in Splatoon (Particularly Splat and Squiffer), so for the "Would you rather nerf long range or buff it's counterplay," I would actually prefer Splat and E-Liter be nerfed, assuming we go about it well. I think what Chara suggested in his Chargers video would be good because it gives more agressive options in return. I say that because the counterplay to these on its own isn't fun for either side of it. Nobody likes not being able to play the game because you're getting bombed every second, and nobody likes having to sit there and throw bombs and specials at that one spot or that one guy because you just can't play the game otherwise. Buffing the counterplay doesn't really address the issue, it just makes it go by a bit faster. Just as long as these weapons don't get the VALVe TF2 Treatment (Just making them completely unplayable like the Caber), I think nerfs/slight reworks to the long range chargers is a much better idea.
Alright so 1:Easy choice. New hairstyle. I LOVE personalization so I will go with that 2:Splatoon 4 I have nothing against the idea of a Splatoon 3 which receives even more content but I think it would be better to have Splatoon 4 3:Another super easy choice. New DLC And I'm going to explain more 4:A remake of Splatoon 1 is a bad idea. Splatoon is not at all the type of game that can get a remake. because literally it will always be a portage. They can't add absolutely anything because literally it won't be Splatoon 1 anymore. It will be Splatoon 4 but without a new hub. because literally at this point you might as well just do a DLC that adds Inkopolis and put the specials from Splatoon 1 into the single player campaign. We can't remake Splatoon. because in fact it has already been done. with Splatoon 2 and 3 and it's really much more interesting to make Splatoon 4 and create original things, fresh new concept and improve what was wrong in Splatoon 3 to make Splatoon 4 super cool 5:Another easy. I will choose 3rd kits I never really hated the Splatoon 3 stages and I always had a lot of fun with each one. 3rd kit are funny and cool so I want them 6:What ? I do not even get what they mean. My best guest is that he is talking about the special and for that I think I take ummmmm... Splatoon... 1 ? 7:I think the best solution is to buff them against them without making them TOO powerful against these weapons so as not to make them useless. simply ensure that if the players are both professionals there is always 50/50 so that both have the same chance of winning thanks to their ability. and for more average players they experience less hell against these weapons 8:Clearly S3 meta without Cooler and Zooka (Even though I never mind those) But S2 meta, obviously being less worst than Splatoon 1 meta, is still not that good 9:HOLY CUTTLEFISH! WHAT!? UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMH..... Tacticooler... Buff...? 10:Costum kit. Clearly. It's far more practical and easy to do. Especially since now that we got Side Order Alright that's all I have to say idk if Chase will see this or if anyone will but that's done
@AliceSkyeJohnson I didn't saybanything rude wether it's aimed at me(probably not) But yeah I have autism and adhd so I know yet some people just comment things rudely, I don't know why but if they have nothing nice to say, Why say it? Also YOU have a lovely rest of your week and next week!:)

I am heavily with the nerfs on that question. While its fun to always think "just buff more things" when a problem is easy to see nerfs targeting that problem is almost always better than buffing more things to problem status. Lets start with the only thing to actually get significantly nerfed in this game, machine. Machines existance made at least half the weapons in the game unplayable because it was so good. While i think they went too far with everything the fire rate nerf actually fixed the weapon putting it in a state where its not even bad still but other mid and short range weapons weren't all in the catagory "pick machine instead". Remember the only thing that could compete with it was an overtuned shooter with a burst bomb and a strong special it just spammed. Another thing I want to look at is 52. Its entire thing is that its just strong in every way and its only real counterplay is to just play better than it. How do you buff something else to be as strong as it without also removing all its weaknesses and making it annoying? Buffs in favor of counterplay are almost always also given to thing that dont need them and not to things that do. Remember in this game that zap and shot have had rng buffs and for some reason people did not have an issue with that. Yes it helped them fight splash better but if you look at the current state it overall just made them more of a problem than their overtuned selves already were. The only buff solution to most of the games problems I can think of is to bring back the full force of missiles again. Yes missiles cause a problem on their own but they also solve many other issues of weapons only focusing on playing their own game by forcing them to play another game too. Always fun to think more and more buffs but problems are nornally actually solved with nerfs not buffs.
For clarification, at 3:07, I'm referring to the parry aspect of squid roll and squid surge. Obviously the movement portion always works. The question didn't mention parrying at all so was probably irrelevant to talk about that, but it wouldn't have changed my answer either way.
