I learned early on to cut the screen off and throw it away.unless you’re worried about starting a forest fire throw that screen away.another thing is break those black caps off the carb adjustment screws so you can get them to run right.best known method?throw the screen away
Can also use a blow torch inorder to clean out the carbon build up on all your spark arresters doesn't matter what kind of chainsaw you have or any kind of small engine works every time on all spark arrestors. 😎👍🏼
I have two huskvarna chainsaws , a Stihl cut off saw , a couple of weed wackers and a gas powered core drill but Ive never seen that style of spark arrester. Just typical flat screens. California specific ???
Brand specific. Australia too, have just discovered this... this discovery changes everything!! Forget selling parts scam as per the video, includes selling replacement machines. Stihl and Stihl retailers are all in on this for you to give up and go buy a new machine when one is not educated and retailers actively advise fees to 'service' machines with the retailer are near close to buying a new one and actively steer you in that direction!!!!
Down under here too. My fs38 is ok WHEN I actually get it going but I'm a 75 year old female and from brand new it has been pathetic compared to my 26 year old Stihl. Regret buying it. Today it just about wore me out trying to start it. I will check the spark arrester tomorrow but doubt this is my problem as it has been painful from day one. Battery one maybe the answer for me now but disappointed especially with a brand like Stihl and with dozens of reviews, I'm not alone....

I learned more than just how to clean spark arrestors thanks for the heads up. I never really thought about it before.
Great info 👍
PB Blaster works to remove clean carbon out of the screen
Don’t needa clean a spark arrester if there’s not one to clean right.
That’s right cut the screen off and check it in the garbage

Hopes#9 gun cleaner works too. Most good quality gun cleaners work well too.
Thank you thank you again

Likely, Oregon and California seem to have higher DEQ requirements on many things. Not sure on the spark arrestor.
