I'm Nigerian but I must say that waakye with all the sides; (spaghetti, garri, leaves, plantain, and waakye stew with boiled eggs, and shitto) is hands down my favourite Ghanaian street food. The deliciousness is out of this world. This recipe is 👌👌👌.
It is waakye Wednesday and what better day to share with you my simple but very very on point waakye recipe! Do look out for the recipe of the amazing stew that went with it. Have a blessed day my dear friends💕
Sometime ago you made an ad a shop and recommended them for online shopping… I think they had mailed you shito and other stuff… can you please share their link?

I tried this recipe in addition to the stew and it turned out perfectly! It was my first time making waakye and my husband enjoyed it so much. The baking soda trick with the stew really works, I can’t believe I’ve never known of it till I heard you mention it in one of the videos. You’re really changing lives here 😂. Thank you soo much sis. God bless you. Wish I could send you a picture for you to see.
I am Nigerian and I must say this is by a mile my favourite Ghanaian dish. Alongside all my beautiful Nigerian dishes, this is one of the regular meal in my house. Sitting in my freezer as I type. Love, love, love it
My darlings do use a clean tea towel or cotton napkin to cover the pot rather than tin foil...its healthier but the waakye looks so delicious, will definitely try it...well done👍😍😘😘
The type of pot you cook the waakye in makes a big difference. Daadesan pot is the best. Again soak the leaves for at least 6 hours with half the quantity of baking soda. Do not not soak the beans, it loses taste. Watching you I am salivating. Well done.
Baking soda shortens the cooking time of the beans. It has been known to cause an upset stomach for some. You can absolutely omit it from your cooking.
I made this Waakye this afternoon. It was delicious. My mum was shocked paaa. She asked whether I bought it in town 😂😂😂. Thank you so much for sharing your skills with us. I'm so happy to have found your chanel. God bless you abundantly. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙌🏾🙌🏾. Love from London, UK!
Thanks dear. I hope to get better with my sound. With a 4 year old and 1 year old, constantly in the background it is hard to have time to work on my voiceover.
"Some fried fish and waakye di3, wo boa kraa"!!!😃. On that note, I'm hitting the shops for the leaves cuz I've got everything else in house. I've always thought it was rather intimidating to cook this stuff but 'Imma gon' try like hell! (In my best Texan accent)😜

I really love waakye. do the leaves add any flavour or is it just for colour. what would be a substitute for the leaves if i cant find them?
Manka Kariuki the leaves gives flavour but u can use backing soda if you can’t get them.
It give it that colour to.
I’m trying this tomorrow, will let you know how it goes. Which shrimp powder did you use, the salted or not salted one?

Love the recipe! Was just wondering what baking soda does for the food... Can it be omitted?
Baking soda shortens the cooking time of the beans. It has been known to cause an upset stomach for some. You can absolutely omit it from your cooking.

Sister, so the sole purpose of sorghum leaves is to add flavour or just colour? Sorghum in our country has green leaves not this kind.
Sis mostly adds colour. These are the dried leaves. They are green when fresh.
@@KwankyewaasKitchen Oh yea I remember now. Sorghum is our staple food in Botswana.
Exactly how I make my waakye 👌🏾👌🏾
