"If only they knew!" Really resonates with me. Great video!

Been struggling with this bad lately, I’m mortified by past mistakes but they’re mostly a secret, the truth would really hurt someone I care deeply for. They’re no longer in my life as much now, and as much as I feel the need to confess and get this off my chest, it would only cause them harm. I’d rather I suffer than them :(

"The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him."
    Daniel 9:9
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
    Ephesians 4:32
We should forgive each other , but also ourselves.

I sometimes forget about unconditional self acceptance… it’s hard, I try to remember that the mistakes I made were 20+ years ago.. but something has told me to hold onto that regret and shame all this time… some days are OK, and some days are unbearable.. I feel like it has morphed into my identity.. and when it’s bad, it sucks the color out of my days… thanks for this reminder. Keep it up

For me it is 100% just guilt. Idc about jail or being an outcast or whatever. There's no fear of anything happening because of the event. Which was almost 2 decades ago. I just hate everything about it and the guilt is KILLING ME!
So there really isnt a worst case scenario here. Nothing will ever happen as a result of my event, it cant. So what the hell do i make peace with?
I had real event ocd over other things which did have potential fears coming true and I did manage to mostly make peace with those fears but this new one is worse.

Perhaps it's only a fear of experiencing guilt and that feeling being there. Momin recently did a video on fear of self-rejection too. You might find that helpful as well.

What if the real event was actually bad ? That’s why I just can’t move on, it’s just so grey

Hi sam! I have a quesion about real event ocd.
I have real event ocd but now it seems my ocd has shifted to "what if my ocd makes me confess against my will, and everyone i care about ends up hating me?"
    Any advice for this scenario?

Stop confessing and look at the core fears at play.

This video really hit home what I’m currently going through right now. Things I deeply regret from the past is causing me deep depression and constant ruminating and questioning myself if I’m a horrible person

Can i ask, are you a trainer for OCD recovery uk. I want to deliver this kind of support for fellow sufferers once i have a grasp my own brain. Do u have to get certificates in cbt as well. Just curious about that
