Welcome to this cozy, laid back writing vlog! This vlog is probably a little less polished than my other writing vlogs; I wanted to have a candid chat about imposter syndrome, writing and rejection, and some of the difficulties of writing. I hope you like this format! It was a good, cozy, productive day at home and I managed to get a lot of writing done despite the issues I've been having with concentration and getting distracted ~
Take care everyone and enormous love 😊

As much as I love writing, it can be a very lonely process. That’s why I enjoy watching other people’s writing progress and routines. It makes me feel like we’re all in this together, and it keeps me motivated when I’m stuck on something I’m dreading to write. I always love your writing vlogs, so don’t worry about us not reading your finished projects. There’s something really magical about the journey. Thank you for these vlogs!! ❤️

I just realised that you are writing for the love of writing and not publishing, and you are saying out loud! Thanks for this Christy, i have been procrastinating and overthinking that I am not "there" yet to write.. Thank you thank you for being honest and thoroughly open, it gives me a breakthrough that, I dont have to be a published writer to write a book... ! Im gonna start digging into writing.

Always love listening to you talk about writing. These cosy vlogs are always relaxing. Imposter syndrome is real and it feels as if it becomes more prevalent with the more we achieve. Anxiety definitely doesn't help those feelings. We're all here to support you and be a sounding board if you need. You know we are always on the Christy train!

I actually quite enjoy the vlogs where you're not out and about, where you just either read or write at home. It's quite cosy to just be in your own bubble sometimes and hunker down on a project, or just disappear into another world. So, more of both kinds of vlogs!

Thank you for your writing vlogs, they are very inspiring! I love the pretty cinematic pictures, but I do find this format more relatable and, hence, more inspiring. As someone, who cannot go to a coffee shop to get some writing done, I appreciate seeing other people carving out some room in their busy schedules and homes to write. I also love listening to you talking about your writing experience! It demystifies the act of writing and makes it more approachable.

This was a really delightful, calming and eye opening vlog about your writing process. Also, I think it’s cool that you love writing imagery. As a reader, I belong to the possibly smaller percentage who genuinely enjoys reading imagery - I’m actually less into the plot itself. As a reader, I like believable character development, an interesting writing style and beautiful imagery.

I love how soothing your writing vlogs are. I'm reading the House on the Cerulean Sea now on your recommendation. I love that your vlogs are about writing because you love writing, even if you know that the end results might not be shared with the viewers. I used to love writing and stopped after graduating because I felt like there was no point if I wasn't going to pursue it as a career. We never look at people playing instruments or drawing or painting that way- you can enjoy the process and create without expectations. Anyway this was just a really long winded way of saying thank you for sharing this vlog

This is then mindset I need to get into about my writing. I keep thinking I want to leave something behind so that when I'm gone I'm not forgotten, but the truth is no one has control over that. I want to enjoy writing and enjoy my life while I'm alive. If I get to publish a book (even through self publishing), that's just an added bonus.
I need to stop letting my thought of, "My writing is cliché and no one will ever read it, so why bother?" keep me from doing what I love. Thank you for posting this video, it's definitely given me something to think about.

I loved this format! Both kinds of writing vlogs work for me tbh, I´m jus inspired no matter what.
Also, as someone who likes writng but doesnt have the chance to write in aesthetic coffee shops very often (more like ever), its very nice to see you thriving and overcoming obstacles in your pjs at your house. It reinforces the idea that sometimes you can make things work no matter where you are (although having a space that works for you is very important!).

It is so interesting to see how you plot and organise your ideas. I started a project with various characters with an important back story and I decided to try a new way of building the characters and let them all tell their own life story. I‘m creating a lot of writing that I won‘t use (i guess I will write about 5000 words for each of them) but it is interesting to see what details come up when you don‘t yet restrict yourself.

Dear Christy, finally I managed it to watch your video in time and comment on it!
As a fellow writer I can relate so much - I love imagery to pieces as well! Whereas dialogue or proper world building are a bit harder for me. I prefer short stories, because you can use them to present one certain atmosphere, one certain situation. Big stories on the other hand are so scary! I started writing my first novel during the NaNoWriMo in 2020, but I didn't continue until around a month ago. The thought of all the chapters I've written before and the amount that need to follow scare and motivate me at the same time. But once I managed to start again, I felt all the love and admiration I have for my characters and the plot coming back.
From one amateur writer with imposter syndrome to the other - we do our best and discover our works and characters step by step and that's it. Rejection fxcking hurts at first, but we continue traveling with our words. We should be proud of ourselves! ❤
Thank you for the vlog, it helped me unwind after work! And I might write a little bit later tonight as well! 😊

I second this! I’d love to read your writing and I’m sure there are many others of us here that follow you who would as well, look at Texan in Tokyo she self published 2/3 books. Of course, the disadvantage of self-publishing is that you take on all of the financial burden yourself, whereas traditional publishers do everything for you and pay, too.

I've been *published* through zines, and little books made from my old tafe's publishing house, and in a magazine's off-shoot book that was edited and created by the post-graduate students who are some of my friends from when I did uni with. So like, /technically/ I'm a published writer, but I can't say "you can buy it from here" so it's really tough.

Hi, as someone who uses gluten free flour, it can be drier than regular flour and may need extra liquid. Cocoa also is quite dry so you may have created a perfect storm of dryness. I know scones take more liquid to turn out right. And something's just never work right. Making biscuits that use Almond flour, like macaroons is a really good gluten free alternative. Shortbread also works very well, because there is no gluten to activate and so they stay really 'short'. Good luck with your baking.
