This is the very best diary I have ever seen of an Everest ascent. Now I can really visualise the Icefall. Many thanks Ryan and all the luck in the world!
This is the best “real” Everest footage I have seen for that length of time (seen everything possible online). Well done Ryan - amazing work and be safe.
I have watched many documentaries on Everest. You offer such a fresh perspective that is honest and compelling. You’re a great storyteller and I really appreciate all the footage of the Khumbu Icefall. Looking forward to the next episode!
It's very interesting watching you progress as a climber. In the beginning, you weren't so aware of how your climbing affects the climber behind you. The sherpa would hold the ropes taught for you on the other side of the ladder, but I didn't see you reciprocate the favor for the climber behind you at first. And sometimes you were holding the rope from an angle, causing the climber behind you to only have the option of leaning forward while going over the ladder but not able to lean back and pull the ropes taught because you had one rope in your hand and were farther from the ladder, pulling the rope at an angle. But towards the end of the video, you were holding the ropes for them as well! Excellent job!! It's important in all aspects of life to always remember to be considerate of others. With a lack of oxygen and in brand new surroundings, it's easy to forget to help the folks behind you. You're doing well, progressing in a positive manner. Pace yourself, be extra aware of your immediate surroundings, and always be considerate of others. If the weather is agreeable, I think you'll summit (half-way done), and make it back down (done). Thanks for the videos. I'm thoroughly enjoying them and look forward to each upcoming episode of your Everest chapter of life.
Echoing other commenters, I have seen countless Everest videos, but yours captures the step by step journey thru the icefall, better than any I've seen, truly amazing. Loved seeing the view of Everest from camp one.
Awesome video Ryan. Appreciate you taking us on your journey. This is the most "behind the scenes" footage I think I've ever seen of the Khumbu ice fall.
I first became interested in Everest whilst watching the IMAX film in the Science Museum in Boston in 1998 whilst visiting USA. I’ve since watched many documentaries and read books. Ryan your videos are amazing. Thank you for taking this armchair enthusiast on your journey to the summit. Stay safe and well, looking forward to your next upload x
Thank you so much for sharing this view. I have been reading about Everest for many many years and this trek through the icefall is so much scarier when seen from your perspective. You are amazing!
This is awesome Ryan! What an adventure. I am so glad You are sharing this with us, i really enjoy Your videos. Amazing that i can follow Your journey from my sofa in Sweden. Respect to You Ryan, and all the other climbers and Sherpas on the mountain.
How stunning. Behind you mate. Have been watching since the day 2 upload but had also watched Alans interview first. Led me to following exped dispatches, lives, weather forecasts and waiting for these updates. Thanks for the effort you put into sharing your experience with random strangers. Can't wait to see your summit vids. All the best when you begin your summit rotation.
From the very beginning, I’ve been with you. Lead us to the summit, and remember to stay safe Ryan.. Your optimism is truly inspiring.. Keep going strong.. Climbing Everest is a dream of mine too, but watching your videos feels like I’m living the experience in my own way.. It’s quite amusing.. 😊🍀
I definitely held my breath on that one. Amazing how something as small as that can be the difference between life and death. Lesson learned hopefully!
So happy to see you back filming! You sound and look well 😊 I imagine the Khumbu is a beautiful part of the climb even though dangerous. Stay safe and healthy! Continued prayers and support for you!
Thanks for taking us along with you through the Khumbu Icefall - almost feels like we’re right there with you climbing over ladders and crossing crevasses. 😰 Great to see you back in action!
Great videos. It's nice to see how it actually looks like. I admire your courage because I wouldn't go. Please, keep in mind that in this high altitude brain is not capable of making good decisions. Stay close to the sherpas and always listen to them. If there is a certain time when you need to turn around, turn around no questions asked. Take it from somebody who has been studying decision making for years and has read a lot about summit fever. You might think "I would never risk my life just to summit." But when our mind is in a hot state, we don't really know how we will decide. That's why the decision has to be made ahead. Nothing is more important than coming back safely. You will have a lot of great footage even without the summit. And if the conditions allow, summiting will be just a nice cherry on the top. Good luck and enjoy 😉!!!
"Nice!" while going over deadly crevasses....LMAO. Why not. Have fun. Stay safe. Enjoying the videos, thank you. One thing I've never seen in an Everest video is the bathroom situation above base camp. Haha, little snow toilets. Nice!
16:17min: i seem to recognize the great Hero Ngima Tashi Sherpa... The savior of last year heroic rescue! If so you are in the best hands on your climb! Safe climbing
@@nasirkhamlichi1734 AND he’s carrying his own gear! In an earlier video he said he does not have a personal Sherpa for this part (I think he said for last day?)
Still with you brother! Following you from Asheville NC Stay safe…. No disrespect, I’m a climber too, I noticed the screw gate holding your carabiner open while you filmed in the Khumbu … stay vigilant So excited for you. Great job!
I had no idea what the Khumbu looked like! You guys are crazy!! 😉 Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us!! Stay safe and keep up the positive attitude!!
Concentrating on climbing and moving through the icefall as quickly as possible while still dark, is important for many reasons ... it's much less stable once daylight hits it and one slow person puts everyone in danger, and that includes the sherpa, who has to wait around for climbers having trouble.
Yoo....yr videos are amazing. I feel like im there. It seems so real and the narration isnt boring and soporific. Sending Str8 Blessings from Newark, NJ bruh. I love it!!!
Wonderful view of Everest. I'm glad you decided to keep your own pace--there's great wisdom in that. I've been following your whole journey, and it's great to see your progress.
Wow! Tgat did look brutal. So much strength is required to just get through that. Thank you Ryan for sharing this. This is my dream as well but the health I've been given wouldn't allow me.
Rock on brotha, just keep climbing! But keep in mind, reaching the summit isn't as important as getting off the mountain. The sherpa is there for a reason, if you ever consider ignoring his advice, you will literally be putting your life in the hands of the mountain. Have fun, be safe 👍🏻
Yaaay you made to camp 1. Ryan your very brave to cross those latters.beautiful scenery and my fav sound in the whole world is crunching snow under my feet. I can tell it’s getting harder to breathe.looking forward to the next video 🇨🇦
I've always wanted to do this!! All my life. Cardiac arrest has stopped that dream from coming true!! This is the best I got now ahah :) good luck on your travels mate
aww mate! rest up! Can see in your eyes at the end there you're tired. Unwanted advice but.. Try not to lick your lips, it'll make them more chapped. Your mate that was crossing the ladders "too fast" -he's abit of a worry tbh. He needs to slow down and take it easy or you'll all have to slow down. Gnarly icefall - i'd say the trip back down will be trickier/scarier. You handled the wall and the ladders like a champ. Love from New Zealand
Ryan I wish you the best on your journey. We’re following with every video. The best video of a journey to the summit I’ve seen. Take care of yourself. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
