- If you’re new in town or just new to this whole podcast thing, you’re tuning into ‘Lore by Night’, the podcast that discusses all things vampiric, with no fear of breaching The Masquerade. In this episode, we shall be discussing ghouls, mortals who are bestowed vampiric blood. We will learn how to best portray them as a player, or as a storyteller, by dissecting their lore, biology and motives.

My personal theory is that the narrator is the neonate's sire and is only acting as a shadowy mentor to avoid exposing themselves.
Wouldn’t we be just as hideous as a Nosferatu then? And if we are and he just doesn’t mention it, why?
@@TheCorrodedMan not all nosferatu are hideous in the same way. Perhaps the neonates hideousness is a unsetling feeling others get,tricking there eyes.
An interesting development! The neonate came without invitation or question! Plus we have a female prince, this narrows down the possible cities we may be in even further!

I like ghouls, they're an interesting addition to the vampire hierarchy. Poor Christian, though -- he really got a raw deal! His old would-be domitor shouldn't have tried to screw over an ancient Nossie. . .
Maybe being a ghoul who’s had many masters is how the caitiff prince learned sooooo many disciplines.... maybe he got passed around a couple times before diablorising a more powerful vampire or was finally made one but retained his disciplines through intense training and practice.
Why does this topic not get much coverage? This seems like one of the most useful tools in the Kindreds' toolkit.

I was wondering that, too. After all, sending him back (in one piece) hold's the risk of him revealing information about your haven. Of course, our dear host would've made sure Christian doesn't know it's location, but he may have seen something through the haven's windows that allows corresponding conclusions

@@LoreByNightVtM Now it makes me wonder: if you develop a discipline when you're a ghoul do you lose it after you ran out of blood? And if so, do they 'come back' when you get some vamp blood again? Does it have any impact if you're embraced by other clan after developing a discipline from another clan? And probably most important, is there such a thing as 'too much' vamp blood? Like, can you get embraced like that or do you have to be drained by the vampire first? Sorry if you answered any of those in the video. It's been a few days and I just got those ideas and I don't want to risk forgetting them
You would only lose a discipline as a ghoul if you stopped feeding, regardless of Clan. A ghoul can drink too much blood, which can have nasty side effects, and embracing a ghoul is the same for mortals. Whether they lose the discipline or not, I cannot remember at this time.
@@LoreByNightVtM you loose dots if their no blood in you for a month, but you don't loose the knowledge (you can't used them, but your still "trained" in them) until after 6 months (1 dot at time from all).
You keep all disciplines you know upon embrace (though the first/untrained dot of potence is arguable)

Ghouls can be magnificent bastards in their own right. But I often sympathize with characters like Christian who are scorned and treated as "disposable assets" or "collateral damage". I don't listen to the episodes in chronological order so this is the first time I learn about the narrator's "business policy" towards ghouls (which, coming from a powerful kindred, is quite in-character). No need to say that, as a ghoul sympathizer, if I were the listener, I would have started to plot the mentor's demise... But not before he finishes his lore presentations, which, unfortunately won't happen before long (that wicked mongrel!) >:)
Much love for such a wonderful video on ghouls. They're so underrated, and a joy to play if you have someone you really comfortable with to play your domitor.

I do have a lore question: if my male ghoul have... some breeding time with a normal, dominated female, she can get pregnant? Why search for servants when you can breed, grow and train them from beginning?
I used to have a character with a number of Pit Bulls he had ghouled. Needless to say, that was the most well protected motherfucker in the city, and not just because he was over 280 and capable of crushing a car
Since I am beginning my first plot in VtM, I like to imagine that the narrator is tutoring my character. This is especially helpful since my sire abandoned me and my domitor is hunting me.

Questions I have recently pondered upon this topic is can you ghoul a werewolf? Could you poison a meal with vampire blood and in the case of werewolf cover the scent of said blood so a werewolf won't smell it? Now thinking about it could I just inject my blood to ghoul them or do the have to drink it?

@@LoreByNightVtM your voice acting and narration etc are great, only thing I can talk about now when it comes to it improvement, is if you plan to remake these or continue these videos, I suggest you add some pictures etc, put a face to the voice and so on, it adds to the storytelling, allows listeners to better imagine more, kinda like Geestsly when it comes to star wars.

this makes me wonder, what if 2 vampires were to embrace you at once? as in what if they drained you and you got blood from both of them?
I would say. Whichever is the lowest generation would be the sire.
