Interesting thought experiment: what would happen if instead of trying to keep the existence of vampires secret the SI did the opposite? Public information films, body heat scanners everywhere, systematic clearing of suspected sites, routine blood testing and incarceration of people who willingly feed vampires. Vampires would be done in a few years. Assuming some lawyer doesn’t successfully litigate that the undead have rights. The fact that that hasn’t happened suggest the authorities have stuff to gain from the continuing existence of vampires . Never bought the whole avoiding mass panic thing. There must be double agents preventing the SI’s war from turning hot. Who benefits from the current state of affairs??
Perhaps that could be a game you could run sometime for your players? 👀

@@LoreByNightVtM I think it could work really well for a ‘Day watch’ coterie of thin bloods with the day drinker merit. Tasked by the local sheriff to infiltrate the SI. Literally the expendables.
In my opinion the SI isn't doing something like that, because it would be a political nightmare. Even if you assume, that the WoD isn't more f*ck up, than the real world, you would have a lot of issues. For simplification, I will mostly focus on western democracies.
- First of all as an involved government, you need to admit to your people, that you have lied about that for a long time.
- Your suggested anti-vampire measures are more restrictive, than the restrictions against COVID, so you would possibly have even more resistance against them.
- In my opinion it would be very hard to argue against vampires having human rights, because they were humans before and are still conscious. This might lead to the problem, that you cannot kill a vampire just for being a vampire.
- You cannot go back.
I think that there would be a very big propaganda war. Vampires could present them self as victims of a fanatical Catholic church and stuff like that.
Depending what direction it would go, you could see stuff like:
- Vampire support groups
- Wild conspiracy theories like:
- Vampires are invented by the government to make laws to control people.
- Vampires are a secrete government project gone wrong and its now a cover up.
- Vampires are aliens.
- Vampires are the "good guys" in a fight against corrupt governments.
- Some people might even want to become vampires them self.
In large I think, it would be a big cluster f*ck and a fun scenario to play. It might have some similarities to mutants in X-Men comics with a forced vampire registration act or stuff like that.
So over all, I would assume the SI isn't going hot to avoid this kind of chaos with unpredictable outcome, because at the moment they can kill vampires without questions ask.
An additional topic could be government plans to weaponize vampires and/or their powers for regular and irregular warfare.
I'm no expert, but I would think a complete Masquerade breach would change the power balance of mages as well.
I mean Vienna was the capital for Clan Tremere and since they have their hands in all the pies in the Camarilla it was basically the capital for the kindred. Since taking them out weakened every magister in every sect and took away Thaumaturgy as their most versatile weapon.
I played an SI operative once. An MI5 agent who got ghouled by a Tremere. Would love to run a full SI game some day 🤩
I find it amusing that the Tremere think they are the strongest of mages, well the 2nd inquistion cured them of that.

@@KaRmaTheSchemer paradox only comes up if there are mortal witnesses battles between vampires and mages are mostly not direct , they play chess with other means mortal and supernatural pawns. or int he case of the technology, they probaby send in the world intel services, 2nd inquisition, if that fails, then the Hit marks. and cyborgs and space ships armed with particle beam weaponry and spirit nukes.

Great video as always! I'll be sharing this video with our GM as inspiration for hard enemies in the next campaign that we'll be playing since we never had any inquisition in our campaigns

In my Dark Ages V20 game, the Malk in my coterie decided to make a religious cult where in it he made kine believe that the weak inherit the earth. It made the Inquisition worse. UGH! Stuff happened that I will not go into right now, but it made for a few good RP sessions. xD

I agree with you totally on that.
Honestly the only aspect of the Lore I despise is the Society of Leopold’s departure from the Church proper. I find the move ridiculous for not only are these guys Catholic Zealots, so cutting off ties would very much be heretical as it breaks the Apostolic Line of Succession, but also because it would cripple the Society financially as they would no longer be granted the tithes from the International Faithful and would no longer be able to utilize Catholic holdings around the world. This diminishes the Society’s threat to the Supernatural forces of WoD, which in of itself isn’t a bad thing but it came about through laughable contrivances.
As ST I rework the lore a little on this one justifying that the Society is in a Religious grey zone within the Church, and while officially a Canonical Order within the Roman Catholic Church many members within the wider Church would view them as borderline heretical much like SSPX or The Personal Apostolic Administration of Saint John Mary Vianney that way they are still able to access Catholic resources whilst still being viewed as outsiders.
I wish we got more info on the entity and the red gas and what there relationship to the society is

I am a caitiff in La I have recently found a tomb at Whitestone underwater there was a body in the a white coffin one of my teammates touch a barrier around the body in the coffin I used scry the soul on it and it was not human was not kindred was not lupin was not spirit from what I could tell it was supernatural in some way but it's had a beating heart and its toll was black with no jaw from her neck below was emanating black mist as the creature came towards me and looked at me strange it touched my chest and I fell to the ground and I could Breathe Air air my heart was beaten and and my skin had turned back to normal flesh colour and once I got to the surface it was the lights and I did not burst into Ashes I was wondering with that of your knowledge would you be able to give me a idea to what it might be
