    Have one. Waited 6 months to get it the way I wanted it. Pricey, but well made with good action and carries nicely. I’m happy with mine even when considering the cost. (No probs with my example re. finish issues in lock bar area or the point. I’d be sending that one back to Greg.)

      I don't think this example is indicative of the entire line, but those misses are disappointing. It's no secret I'm a pretty enthusiastic Medford supporter

      To be fair, it's a good knife. But the price is 😬 for what to to get. And I am a big fan of Medford.

      Yeah, I get what Medford's doing - they have a pricing model. But imo this one should be somewhere between smooth criminal and pratorian swift.

    Good looking knife but when you compared it to the CR, that kind of changes things because I paid this price for my Umnumzaan and it's a perfect EDC for me. Great review

    Sent mine back to have it cleaned and blade centered. The gunk in the lock is unacceptable. It also had a mark in the Ti next to the overtravel stop. The aluminum side does not consistently close on the Ti side (different size light gaps peeking through where the sides meet). All in all, worst quality I have ever seen for a $500 knife with S35VN. A CRK Umnumzaan is $450 (S45VN), a Hinderer Eklipse $425 (20CV). My first and last Medford. Ridiculous

    I believe your review was fair and impartial, overall.
    Although I am not familiar with this brand ; I have heard of Chris Reeve and similar high end & expensive folders.
    I tend to think for the average / everyday user a much cheaper knife would do the same work. A delica 4 by Sypderco is a super popular well known EDC that tops charts.
    But to a certain knife Collector who wants something different; something fairly unique and trend setting; then this is an option to consider. It is lightweight firstly and pretty well designed for most standard edc tasks.

      @chucknunface  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anyone looking at medfords or even something in the price range of this or crk, hinderer, olamic etc. is probably not the casual user.

      @michaelburr8780 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chucknunface I checked the Medfords website to confirm the pricing and it is listed at $USA 460 and modified versions slightly more. An investment?
      .... Website is a fun read though and a tank was the inspiration for the design of the knife originally as creator is a Soldier.
      Certainly ; he makes some stunningly wonderful pieces of blade art. Even if we can only look !

      My rainmaker appears to be better made. Also a fair bit longer. And has a full finger choil. All at a cost of $150-200 more though. But it is smooth.
      Another good review, keep them coming.

    • @dickelstephen
      @dickelstephen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Olamic Rainmaker is so much better! I really think that the Rainmaker it under-hyped considering how excellent the ergonomics are, how well it is designed, and outstanding quality. The M-48 does not even compare, and is actually my biggest regret purchase of 2021. not worth it

  • @jonathancupp3686

    I agree, its definitely not being knit picky. At $550, it better be perfect going out the door. If you want a knife with imperfections, you buy a Gerber, or Mtech, or something along those lines.

    • @chucknunface

      I agree. Nothing is perfect, but the finishing needs to be better on this one. If if flawless, the model is priced too high.

    And I going to add I think it is simply stunningly beautiful knife to look it terms of fit / finish terms. Slick .... yet macho ?
    Blackened out alloy with that graphic is to my taste -- eye watering tasty design . ....
    When they designed that knife they really thought about the practical way to flip it open smoothly; and then executed the impressively designed beautifully immoo.
    I agree --- a little more attention to finishing off the details with polishing may have improved it some ( by made in USA implies extra costs in labour ?? ).
    Would make a great little Xmas present -- for me so long as some else's bought it for me !
    .... I would be quite glad to accept it ! LOL.
