Yeah Hogan took wrestling into a different universe when Hulkamania was born. I’m not saying wrestling was boring before then but when Hulk won his first he became the standard bearer for thousands of guys and girls who then wanted to get into wrestling and you could say the majority of the guys coming through from the late 80s and 90s onwards got into the business because of Hulk bringing the wrestling world and entertainment to a global audience. He is mostly likely one of the most recognised names of all time and if you don’t know who Hulk Hogan is then it will be the case of. “Whatcha gonna do” When The Hulkster and the 24inch pythons run wild on you! 40 years already but as we know Hulkamania will live forever.
I seriously ponder how different things would've been if Vince landed his first choice of Kerry Von Erich. I've also read people pondering if Austin Idol had been recruited instead and I believe that would've been interesting.
Kerry would have been interesting. He had the look Vince coveted but his personality was completely opposite Hogan. He had a quiet charisma as opposed to Hogan’s bombastic style. His mic skills would have needed to improve big time but the WWF machine could help with that. Would Vince been able to keep Kerry away from the drugs? Part of me thinks him getting out of Texas might have been helpful in cleaning him up. Very interesting “What If?” 🤔
