Great vid! As a relative novice of wrestling, I appreciate that with each belt, you give a snipit of its history. For the exception of 2 or 3, I was totally on board with your picks.👍
Fun video, me personally i would have used the later version of mid Atlantic title which i think looks a lot better than the earlier version that you used and i was surprised that you didn’t include certain belts like the USWA unified world championship , NWA junior championship , the American championship and the NWA national title , but like I said earlier this was still a fun video
That NWA television Title is what a Title should look on a wrestler! It would look good on Cody Rhodes today with him having that old skool NWA 80s style look. My fav though is the Intercontinental Title around the time Randy Savage had it during that era when Titles didn’t exchange hands a lot and they meant something when you won them.
100% agree! Something about those mid card titles in the 80’s…they were masterpieces! I think a lot of it has to do with Hogan and Flair dominates World Title scene you had so many legends hold the IC, US, TV, etc that it elevated them. The 86 IC was my favourite growing up as well 👍
I apologize for that! lol After recording it and rewatching it, if I did it over again I’d bump the IC and US titles to GOAT and move UWF TV to Legendary. When I started I was worried I’d end up putting everything in either GOAT, legendary or great so I was being cautious at first 🤣🤣
Not a fan of the UWF HW title but boy the Mid-South one was horrid so it was an upgrade. I love the NWA TV one, and to me, it had higher prestige than the U.S. one since it had the stipulation of a time limit and was, of course, defended on TV quite often. I never noticed the Mid-Atlantic has Georgia on it...they must have added that around 1984 Also these world belts love Australia but ehhh, Japan, who? That is weird especially since more wrestlers went to Japan for tours than Australia lol
The Big Green looked good on crappy TV sets and from a distance at the arenas, but up close or in HD it looks like garbage - same with the IC belt that went between the original and the Tito Santana version.
@@WrestlingWithThe80s I almost wonder if Saturday Night’s Main Event had something to do with it. That was the first time WWF really had high quality production elements (courtesy of NBC).
@@aaronsugar7228 many people don't realize the massive effect Dick Ebersol had on the WWF (and by proxy the wrestling industry as a whole) in teaching Vince McMahon how to truly present a high quality production. If he's not already in the WWE HOF he should be inducted eventually.
Gotta say I disagree with you on the ranking of the NWA World's heavyweight title and the WWF World tag team belts. Reason being, during the time of it's heyday, the NWA belt was unlike anything else ion the business. And while the design could be said to be SiMiLAR to the designs of the GCW TV, National and U.S. Heavyweight (Georgia), everythign else about it was orginal and unique. Including the most iconic thing about it being the raised globe in the middle plate. It was totally different than what Hogan wore in WWF and was markedly different than the AWA title of Rick Martel, Stan Hanson, and Nick Bockwinkle. It is for this reason I think the belt belongs in the legendary catagory. On the flip side, I could see the WWF Tag titles lowered. Why? Well, even with their clean design, and even their size, they definately stand out. However, aside from the front plate, the side plates let them down considerably. And while I understand the nostalgia of the titles, as they were held by great teams such as: The U.S.A. Express, Valentine and Beefcake, the British Bulldogs, and the Hart Founddation. But that's just it...they were nostalgic. More importantly, they came from a time when the tag team belts didn't change hands every month to two months. And were defended by two mid card guys that creative didn't know anything else to do with them. But as for the belts themselves, design wise, they were also different, but not so much as to just "jump out" at you. Again, I think the prestige of these belts was in their longevity and prestige of not being won that often. so while I do consider them "classic" from the time I first began to really get into wrestling, the 80's version of the WWF tag team titles, just aren't that memorable.

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it and that my picks weren’t out to lunch 😂👍
Great video BC! Awesome job as always!
Thank you Brother! Glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏻

You have such a soothing voice BC
Yeah, like Disco Inferno’s and Kermit the Frog’s love child! 🤣🤣
I agree, it's quite professional too, like he's been doing this for a very long time.

Great tiers
The 10lb of Gold not greatest design but its status proves old saying wrestler makes makes title not vice versa
Very true! That version was elevated by the holders for sure 👍
Strange that the AWA tag team title says American Wrestling Alliance instead of Association.
The WWF IC belt not in the GOAT category, my heart just shattered.
I apologize for that! lol

@WrestlingWithThe80s good assessments...I think you could arrange the belts 100 different ways and still break hearts

Hard to believe the quantum leap in quality those title took over the years!
