I like this! I am from Australia & 1st fell in love with Andean Music back in the 70s after hearing Pachacamac's Music of the Incas LP. In the 90s I finally figured out how to make some quenas & zamponas out of PVC as Songo cane is unavailable here. I did buy some imported instruments but these are often not tuned well. For a long time, it seemed to me that a zampona that plays sharp cannot be fixed. However, from experimenting towards building a Toyo, I think that constricting the bore at the top of the piped does flat the notes. So this may be a way to salvage a sharp tourist grade zampona.
However, I am not playing so well anymore since I am older & not practicing so much. Still love the music though.
My favorited from that Pachacama LP was Walaychu I kind of worked out my own version of that tune, probably not quite right though I suspect, recognisably close though.
