propane to nat gas burner conversion part 1

  • This shows the burner conversion from propane over to natural gas use and demonstrates the simplicity of how to do it. in the video I said to use a petcock valve but this was a mistake. I was using a petcock valve that you see in the video but I switched it to a ball type valve instead, because the hole is not as restricted on that type of valve and allows better gas to flow and you get a "little" hotter flame. the camp chef burner is the only one I found with a big enough round flame guard to fit the ring jet burner into and you need the shroud to protect it from the wind. also I should note that I tried one of those spark burner lighters and those do not work, there just isn't enough gas pressure to get it to light until you have a cloud of gas there for a big "poof" plus the ring gets too hot for something made of plastic to be screwed directly onto it so just stick to using a regular stick type lighter for lighting it. also use a heavy duty rubber hose for your gas line, they are cheap and household gas lines only have 2-4 lbs of pressure so its more then safe enough to handle that, plus the rubber gasket connector makes a quick an easy sure sealing leak free connection to your gas line.
i found the best prices for the camp chef SHPRL burner and ring jet can be found on ebay

Great video! I'm trying to build a setup for outdoor wok cooking and this is the only video I found that describes how to secure the burner without welding. U bolts, so simple. haha!

One of the best videos for explanation I have seen 👍🏻

Hey just curious how many quarts or gallons is the pot in your video?? Thanks for sharing it

put a "Y" at the input, a propane orifice and a natural gas orifice, a valve and quick connect on each. 1 burner, dual gas.

I like it. Can you tell me what to outside diameter of the 23 jet burner ring? I, too, have a boiler I want to convert to Nat Gas. Thanks

Good video! Would that be safe to use indoors? Im looking for a natural gas burner I can use indoors for homebrewing

As long as you vent like crazy. It’s ok.

What size is that burner 8 or 10”?

can you control the temperature by partially closing the ball valve?

yes you can but with natural gas its only coming out with somewhere between 2-4 lbs of pressure so its like a gas stove top, you go from full on to very little flame pretty quickly. also when doing it in daylight its an almost invisible flame so its very hard to see the flame unless you are cooking in a shaded area

I said to use a petcock valve in the video. this was a mistake. I was using a petcock valve that you see in the video but I meant to say to try using a ball valve instead because the hole is not restricted on that type of valve and "should" allow more gas flow and a "little" hotter flame.

Thanks for the great video! Question: how is it holding up? My only concern was how close the new jet flames are to the side of the windshield. It looks like it's pretty white on the top half of the shield, so just wanted to check as I'm thinking of building. THANKS!

the white is the powder coating that burnt off, it will flake off to bare metal eventually but its working great with no issues at all. the only thing is if its a windy day it helps to block the wind with a board or set it up where the flame doesn't get blown out to one side all the time. also be sure to use a heavy duty rubber hose so it doesn't pinch on you, I used a cheap one and its starting to kink at the connection after a while from wrapping the hose around it for storage

What a waste of time why not show the fire?

You don’t need to show fire. It’s a build video. Not a for sale show off video.
