    Dylan, i have been a fan of yours for years… my biggest dream being to be able to play you and I did… and funny enough it was in a game where i didnt know it was you. It was an honor and a privilege. You were the reason I first ever started playing catan. I was black in this game, and yes I am an odd player at times. I will never forget tonight where i come home after a long day of work… i see ME playing in a dylighted video. Bro you are special, never change.

    Hey Dylan, I was red this game 😄 Honored to finally be featured on the channel, especially in a win.
    I was a few beers in by this game, so it was a trip watching and not remembering what happened 😂
    GG man. I think if you ported before my mono things might have turned out differently.
    Edit: Also, the reason I was giving black those 1 for 1s was because i felt bad for the dirty mono on them earlier 😅 you were spot on calling me out for being an emotional player

      Emotional players are Dylan's worst enemies, as he became the dirtiest of Catan players. I wonder if people who know who he is still make deal with him in games, given how he made himself the spokesperson for scamming.

      Solution: install the Stylus extension in your browser, and add this CSS rule for all pages in the colonist domain:
      div#game-chat-text, div#game-log-text { font-size:1.2rem; width:400px!important; }
      It will make the letters bigger, and the box wider.

    I am a very amateur player, but it always shocks me how little interest there is in an early second city. I understand you become more of target, but you knew you where being blocked anyway, might as well get the extra production.

    • @JohnSmithEx
      @JohnSmithEx ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The consensus among strong players is that 2 devs outvalue one city. Especially if you already have a city. The second city might give you too much production. In this particular case the value of the second city was lower than usual, because it would be on a 2-hex spot, and would increase the production of a resource that is already plentiful (sheep).

    Great game design when you can just buy Devs for a win.

    • @JohnSmithEx
      @JohnSmithEx ปีที่แล้ว

      Klaus Teuber is rolling in his grave. Buying devs is a strong strategy, provided that you know how to use them. And even if you do, your opponents can buy devs too.

  • @edisonenthusiast
    @edisonenthusiast ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The way you so openly are OK with lying to win and renege on trades is sad. Sure winning is great, but lying is cheating no matter how you put it. You make a deal with an opponent to get something you need and when time comes to pay it back you don't do it. If you couldn't create new accounts and hide behind the anonymity you would quickly be embargoed and find it hard to ever trade again because of your character.

    • @maff_
      @maff_ ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do agree that reneging deals is likely counterproductive to the human element; if you never fulfill your agreements or promises people will no longer trust you.
      However lying isn’t cheating. The extortion trades and non-card agreements are classified as “non-binding” by the official tournament rules. So failing to uphold a deal is very much allowed. In high level tournament play the non-binding deal negation happens more often
      It’s a similar concept in poker. If I ask you “do you have pocket Aces?”, there is no obligation to tell the truth. It’s just culturally expected in that game.

    • @edisonenthusiast
      @edisonenthusiast ปีที่แล้ว

      Except in high level tournaments as is my point, if you continually do this, no-one will ever trust you. As for poker, it's actually against the rules to disclose your hand so you are only allowed to lie (unless there is no more betting to take place in the hand).@@maff_

    • @Funglutton
      @Funglutton ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not, it's bluffing. I tend not to do it myself but if I were playing at a higher level I would consider it in certain situations. Choosing when to break your deal is the key aspect, because it will turn other players against you most likely so you need to time it so the payoff is greater than the ongoing stigma. Also the way you break the deal is important. If you explain why nothing else makes sense and maybe give the other player another option where you don't have to break the deal, you can extort and 'honour' the deal, or at least make them feel like you're not a total dick.

    • @JohnSmithEx
      @JohnSmithEx ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is only one way to put it: by the rules. Cheating is breaking a rule. There is no rule "thou shalt be honest" in the official rulebook of Catan, so lying is not cheating.

    • @Funglutton
      @Funglutton ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JohnSmithEx it specifically says all deals are non-binding. So specifically says that breaking your agreement is within the rules.
