Bridles and bits.. there is no “one size fits all” answer , a bitless set up can cause every bit ( 😉) as much damage and pain to a horse when used incorrectly , anyone saying “bits are abuse “ in every circumstance or that bitless suits every pony , is basically showing their lack of experience and knowledge on this complex subject . Just because an equestrian you like uses a hackamore, doesn’t mean it’ll be right for your pony or your riding style , it also doesn’t mean you get to go off at others who tack up differently to your riding hero ( or heroine ....) try to get a balanced understanding of the subject rather than spouting half truths and misinformation

I used to have a pony just like him called Jenny and know how hard it is to get them out of bad behaviour (I had back and tack checked). What ever your doing keep up all the hard work!!

"BITS ARE ABUSE!!!" Hackamores can cause just as much if not more damage than a bit becuase you have to pull much harder for the horse to actually feel anything. Especially if the horse gets spooked. Both of these tools work just fine for certain horses if used properly, but they don't work for all horses.
Yeah, I always say for bits, you can only make bits abusive, they aren’t babies I’ve right away, if you pulll super hard yes, they are abusive but if your using them the right way then it’s fine

Btw if anyone is wondering, there is a type of bridle (i forget the name) that is bitless, which i think encourages you to use your leg aids + body position more to ride your horse. I am not entirely sure about how effective it is/how good it is for your horse (as it may pull on the thin part of your horses nose). I am not sure about it I haven’t done research on it yet. But just for anyone wondering it is out there if you want to ride your horse bitless. You could probs just use a halter but once again not sure if it would damage the horses nose/face bones. (Also you can ride bareback?? not a critiscm just saying you can, I even find it easier and comfier than riding with a saddle. But beware horses backs can be quite sensitive so you should definitely still use a saddle pad so as not to injure your horses spines/nerves, if you ride bareback often or for a long time) Hope this helps anyone who was curious :)
